Yesterday we had a great time at our Open Day. Thank you very much to you all for coming and participating! The winners of the free courses and activities are:
In the raffle, Emily Bird wins a free Spanish course. Her favourite word in Spanish was "sacapuntas" (pencil sharpener). And Jutta Heinen wins a free Spanish gastronomic experiences for 2 people at Ib├®rica Restaurant with the word she likes the most in Spanish, "alb├│ndiga" (meatball).
The winner of the free Spanish cou...rse at the quiz was Holly and since we had a tie for the second place, both Leslie and Ernesto won a free gastronomic experience for 2 people.
And the winner of the free workshop is David Wilson for his interesting written comments after the short films screening.

The Spanish gastronomic experiences at Ib├®rica Restaurants are back! Learn Spanish vocabulary, geography and other interesting facts about Spanish culture whilst you get down to work preparing tapas guided by one of Ib├®rica chefs.

Translation is a way of reflecting on the art of writing; you read the story in depth and create your own version while your knowledge of the source, target language and culture improves in the process.
This workshop will give you the opportunity to experiment and think about literary translation within a group and discover the work of some masters of the short story both in English and Spanish.

Two Spanish landmarks in Leeds are the Ib├®rica restaurant and the Instituto Cervantes and they are joining forces to offer an authentic Spanish gastronomic experience mixed with an interesting Spanish language class. As well as learning vocabulary, geography and other interesting facts about Spanish culture, the participants will get down to work preparing tapas guided by one of Ib├®rica chefs. By the end of the session the participants will have had the chance to experience a... variety of flavours and taste some different Spanish wines.
We have called this first session 'Pinchos night' and on it attendants will prepare:
- Pear & spinach salad Pincho with La Peral blue cheese, pine buts & raisins.
- Twice cooked lamb Pincho with marinated cherry tomatoes & red peppers from Le├│n.
- Salmon Pincho with cream of avocado & tomato vinaigrette.
And they will try two other tapas prepared by Ib├®rica cooks.

Rafael Courtoisie, Isabel Gonz├Īlez, Eloy Tiz├│n or Quim Monz├│ are some of the writers we have decided to call "savages" for the themes that drive them, for the unusualness of their protagonists or for the use of the "I" as a narrative point of view.
In their stories the "I" narrator dialogues with himself and explores experiences, thoughts or ways of understanding reality. This point of view in the short story is as suggestive as it is intriguing.
