Ipsum Vinoteca is a wine bar and a wine shop with the biggest selection of boutique Italian wines and craft beers in the UK. Ipsum Vinoteca is a 20 seat restaurant with a menu changing daily only using local, fresh and seasonal ingredients and a coffee house for times when it is definitely too early for a glass of wine.

In my fight vs Goliath, I have created a gofundme page, please help if you can and just share the post with as many people as you can. If you read the page you will see that 1) each donation will be matched by a voucher for you to spend at the bar and 2) if my claim against the landlord is successful I will donate all money raised to a charity and you would have helped two good causes. Thanks for helping and sharing

Unfortunately today we could not open the bar and we don’t know when we will, we found this notice at the door and the lock have been changed. 2 weeks ago we were flooded for 4 days in a row due to broken and blocked drains, the first time was on Thursday the 26th of July then the following Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the whole basement flooded kitchen equipment damaged and sewage problem in the bathrooms, see photographs. I immediately written to the agent and they neve...r responded until the following Wednesday I said I would not have paid the rent until the issue had been sorted, still they havent arranged for someone to come and check the drains. At the first drop of rain the basement get flooded and every night the toilette water overflow and over the last 2 weekend due to weather uncertainty we had to cancel several bookings because of the basement situation whilst the toilets overflow every evening creating health and safety issues. This is the same landlord that put scaffolding outside our bar for 14 months without even informing us whilst getting paid for the banners. I am now seeking legal advice to see whether I can reopen the bar until then I apologise for any inconvenience. Will do our best to inform all people that have a booking with us but we don’t have the diary meanwhile if you know anyone who can help us please dm me, I really need it, it wont be easy because of the money I would need but I am not giving up yet. It all happened this morning I am still digesting it.

had a lovely evening on the wine and chocolate tasting would recommend it.

User

Well popped in for a glass, ok maybe a bit more... and an absolutely fantastic Italian cheese board with breads... what a great way to spend a relaxing Sunday... cheers!!

We were introduced and recommended to try this place via an Italian friend and so glad they did! Food is authentic Italian, totally delicious there wasn't nothing I didn't like about the place. Yes you need to be patient and dishes take a little longer but they're all done from scratch not prepared or even part prepared. It's annoying when you see reviewers saying it's slow, if you want speed go to mass produce chains like Jamies etc. I'll most definitely be returning and highly recommend! Wine selection too is also fantastic!

User

We had a brilliant evening yesterday at Ipsum Vinoteca, the best wine bar and Italian restaurant in Leeds. Andrea, the owner and Italian wine enthusiast, was a great host and treated us to a bottle of outstanding quality chianti. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys lush wine & delicious food!

User

There's not a huge choice of food but what they have is excellent AND the choice of wines and beers is enormous.

The Ipsum is my preferred place to grab a drink in Leeds. I often go after work or on a special occasion, birthdays and dates etc. The staff are friendly and helpful, with a knowledge of their products beyond anything else you will find in Leeds. With a range of Italian craft beers and wine they can advise you something nice to drink if you are unsure of what to have. They have introduced me to some beers which are now my favourite beverage of choice and and unavailable anywhere else. If you are a beer drinker i would recommend trying the Gjulia IPA or Gjulia nostrana... Very drinkable! The food is some of the highest quality in Leeds with guaranteed fresh ingredients and an exciting changing menu. The food can sometimes take a while to be cooked but this is it to be expected with such consistently amazing and professional cooking. Also being a regular tourist in Italy, the only place which makes an authentic Italian sandwich is Ipsum. Grabbing a sandwich and a beer for lunch is a regular treat for me which gets me through my working day! I cant recommend it enough. The relaxed atmosphere is unique to Ipsum and there is nowhere else in Leeds i could recommend more for a first date or celebration of any kind.

User

Some very interesting and tasty Italian beers in offer besides he wine - friendly & knowledgeable staff and tasty food - a great little place all in all!

User

Really nice atmosphere to appreciate quality wines from Italy. Great value food to go with beautiful wines. I had a mixed bruschette £8 and meatballs £7 with artisan bread.

User

My daughter and I called in here for lunch yesterday. We ordered bruscetta, caprese salad, arancini and callamari. Every dish tasted superb. You could tell all the ingredients were fresh and cooked to order. The waiter recommended a delicious rose wine, I could have drunk the whole bottle! Both the waiter and the owner were so friendly towards us. We even got a shot of orange liqueur after the meal as we were curious about it. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing compared to the chaos in town. I can thoroughly recommend this bar/ restaurant, I'll definitely be going back there soon.

User

Fabulous food, beautifully paired wine, perfect service. Thank you.

User

Excellent italian wine establishment run by the very knowledgeable Andreas.

...know these guys for years and they never disappoint, as every time i need to remind myself of another life which exists on sunny Costa d' Amalfitana, or the shadowy collonaded cafes of medieval Bologna I seek a recluse in Ad Ipsum, true oasis of Italian food and wine in the vibrant centre of Leeds city...

User

The wine selection here is good, but the management is completely rude. Overheard staff complaining as if all customers are idiots who can't be trusted to have good taste, and that theme seems to carry on with the responses to online reviews. Instead of sincerely apologising for any mistakes or customer dissatisfaction, the owner makes excuses, gets defensive and/or blames someone else, so I won't be returning. What a shame.

User

The service was slow, no drink offer before the meal, cold meal and very over priced!

User

Slow service, and an absolute rip off! The most pathetic sandwich, dry, bland and tiny! Couldn't work out why it's was almost £6 , and why it took 45 mins to put it together! Wouldn't recommend!

User

If I could give this place a 0 I would.

The halibut was raw.

The manager got in an argument with my dad in front of my child.

We travelled from Nottingham to watch a show and unfortunately picked this hell hole...

The only recommendation/tip I can leave is to NEVER visit here!!!
