My main focus is to help families whose lives are affected by a wide range of behavioural challenges associated with autism. I teach how to implement appropriate strategies which in turn encourage the development of positive behaviours. Below are typical areas of work.

Development of: -
Early Learning skills – sitting, looking, attending, listening & responding
Age Appropriate Play skills
Self Help skills – toileting, dressing, personal care & hygiene
Social & Emotional awareness
Communication & Language skills
Community Independence skills

Management of: -
Challenging Behaviours including aggression
Eating issues including pattern eating & sensory avoidance
Self Stimulatory Behaviours
Stress & Anxiety induced Behaviours

Sessions are tailored specifically to work around family life and can be carried out in a variety of settings including the home and out in the Community where appropriate. Follow up support can be provided where necessary.

My overall aim is to provide parents /families with the necessary tools to support their child’s behavioural and emotional needs, in order that they may lead a positive, meaningful & enjoyable life.

Reassurance, praise and a sense of calm go a long way... 🙏

The sensory overwhelm that we should always consider if a behaviour appears to 'come out of nowhere' 🙏

Poor interoception is so very common amongst individuals with autism. Where it does not come as a natural instinct, it is our job to implement strategies to help teach the notion and it's associations.

Festive craft ideas for our child (and parent) crafters!🎄 These activities incorporate a wealth of skill development: *communication and language expansion (asking for the things they need step by step); *independence (following a sequence of visual instructions); *concentration ....to name but a few! 😀

When a child is expressing any emotion, in order to help them understand it we can label it for them i.e. "I can see you're feeling sad" and then give them the gentle support they need in that moment. This will begin to build the pathway for emotional self-regulation later down the line 🙂

Whether your child is non-verbal or verbal, communication in whatever form is key to their independence. Let's instigate communication whenever we can.
