As many of our customers know, Lakeside Cafe has been our family's baby for the past five years.
We have worked 24/7 and made lots of family sacrifices to make Lakeside Cafe as successful as it has been.
It has brought us many opportunities, the best memories, and most importantly we have met some amazing people, loyal customers and gained so many friends along the way.
... It is with heavy hearts that as a family we have taken the decision to close after this coming weekend, Sunday September 2nd. This due to an 18 month legal despute and as a small family business we can no longer sustain the financial loss that the business has incurred as a result
We would like to apologise to our loyal customers who have supported us from day one. We cannot thank you enough for your support and love.
We would also like to thank the staff over the five years, who have made Lakeside what it was, with their hard work and dedication.
We will all be forever grateful for what you have helped us achieve and hope we will have your continued support going forward.
Lots of love, the Coxon family xxx

We had a fabulous experience for breakfast this morning. Unfortunately I don’t know the name of the girl who served us but she was so attentive, bringing our little boys food first and separating mushrooms due to my husbands allergy nothing was too much trouble! Thank you again x

User

Visited today for my mums birthday . Not been before . We both had steak sandwiches which were amazing.

All of the girls were lovely, very welcoming , smiley , couldn’t have asked for any better service.

Will definitely be back!

Thankyou so much x

User

The food is lovely!. The inside seating and outside bit is great. Staff are nice, OH.... the milkshakes are to die for! .

User

Recently visited with my Mum after a spa experience at the Best Western hotel (which was fab!) Food was really good! I also had the 'lakeside detox' juice which was delicious. Nice atmosphere and good service. It was very busy I would recommend to book a table!

User

Incredible afternoon tea at a baby shower today, unusual addition of warm finger food as well as deliciously different sandwiches & to die for deserts. Only downside would have enjoyed a second cup if tea but will definitely be visiting again

User

Had afternoon tea here yesterday with my mum and the power went out in the area as we arrived but the staff were brilliant about it. They didn’t allow it to alter the service we received. It was by far the best afternoon tea I’ve ever had and the amount you get for your money was amazing! Eating by candle light was also a nice experience !! Would highly recommend.x

User

Came yesterday for an anniversary meal with my husband. The food was amazing - as were the drinks and service

Thank you

User

As always five star food and five star staff ! Amazing night celebrating 40th birthdays ! Thank you to everyone at lakeside

User

Waited an hour for food, we order a simple meal that should taken 10 mins tops. Need to invest in a better kitchen. Service is terrible........been back today when they less busy and can’t fault them. I take back my bad review.

User

I came here last Sunday, was disappointed there was no Sunday roast on the menu. I ordered fish and chips but the chips were actually skinny fries. The fish batter was lovely but the portions were small for the price. I remember the food being really good last time so was disappointed.

User

Had afternoon tea, 5 of us for my 40th birthday. Food is lovely but the service not so good. Shame really as it could be amazing. Been twice now and it’s always the service that lets it down. Don’t be put off though just don’t expect much attention. X

User

Came for drinks on Saturday night & service not up to scratch.

Took a while for us to be greeted even though you weren’t busy, the waitress wasn’t sure of the Happy Hour deal & charged us incorrectly twice. The cocktails we ordered were the same but came in two different glasses and the shot of prosecco was forgotten twice.

Although the setting, decor, food is delicious, the waitress seemed generally confused.

User

Came for afternoon tea this afternoon to celebrate a friends baby shower. 14 of us were cramped into what can only be described as a corner after being told we would most likely have the conservatory to ourselves. Staff were abrupt when I tried to speak to them about some confusion over numbers and I had to ask for tea and coffee to be brought to the table. Overall I wasn’t impressed.

User

Unfortunately I’ve been to lakeside today for brunch with my family ,to celebrate my birthday ,we’ve been many times before and loved it ,today not so ,service very slow ,my sons food not even ordered ,when it came wasn’t edible ,and wasn’t what the menu had described.,very very disappointed ,won’t return ,

User

Todays breakfast was not up to par. Not usual standard. Bacon was over cooked, not crispy burnt to a frazzle wasted it, sausage burnt at one end. Poached egg was lovely. The breakfast did take a while to arrive longer than normal.

User

Music was so loud couldn’t hear what was said. Our sandwich was a small bap which was barely toasted with bacon and cheese. My desert ordered was apple and blackberry, sent only apple. Undercooked crumble was a pasty white. Toilet area was in need of modernisation as was the entire upper floor. Waitress’ were less than sympathetic to our complaints, argued saying they liked the music. Evening meals and Sunday lunch have always been excellent , very very disappointed!

User

I had a dissapointing visit today.

Was told we were not allowed to order alcohol without food. Ordered nibbles but half was dry and not nice, drinks wernt that cracking either.... not much change from 20 quid to just to pop in for a drink ! Staff also were quite unprofessional too and no-one had a clue what was happening in the cafe and outside. May be my final visit here for a while unless some things improve.

I booked a table mid week for 4 people, two having afternoon tea and the other two sampling the rest of the menu for the first time. Even though I booked we had to wait for our table, things seemed a little fraught. We were not sat in the main restaurant but in the conservatory ish area on a table that could seat 8, far too big for our party. The room was cold, my niece had to keep her coat on to stay warm, I asked the waitress if there were any more heaters but she never came back to me. The waitress took the order of a table who was seated after us before she took our order. We waited over 30mins for our food to arrive, the afternoon tea came out first and as they served us our hot drinks 30mins before we had drunk them before our food arrived! My nieces food arrived afterwards and the waitress said enjoyed your meals and was just about to walk off when I had to point out we were one meal short. She went to check and the original lady who took our order came over and said she was so sorry she completely missed it & she wouldnt charge us for it. Another 10mins later the final meal turned up, it wasn't what we expected, I don't know how you called what my brother received a toasted sandwich, it was a slightly toasted/burnt bread cake with ham and cheese in it. My brother was struggling to eat it as it was so dry so used the sauces that came with the afternoon tea to help, it just wasn't what anyone would call a toasted sandwich at all. The afternoon tea was nice although it would have been nice to have been asked what bread we wanted or at least have got a variety. It would have also been nice to have more variety of sandwiches instead of just the two. We took all our cakes home as to be honest we were too cold to stay any longer. The lady didn't get the bill right as we left either but by then we just wanted to leave. I'm sorry but this was out first visit and it will be our last. I think I was expecting a little more luxury after what I'd heard and read but after noting the decor and experiencing the food my conclusion is it's definitely just a cafe!

User

I had the most disappointing breakfast here the other day, after having to find the waiter to order our food, we had quite a long wait, the breakfast was £9.00 each and consisted of 1 small greasy sausage, 1 dirty greasy piece of bacon, a burnt greasy block of black pudding and half a tomato, we got told as the waiter put our plates down that there were no beans as they’d not got any, no offer of anything extra on the plate either.

The radiator was dusty and tables unclean, very very disappointing.
