Dick & Lottie make their LBT main stage debut this September with Alan Ayckbourn's sharp comedy Improbable Fiction.
Six aspiring authors meet to discuss their work. The chairman, Arnold, attempts to persuade the group to collaborate, an idea hat is quickly dismissed. As Arnold is clearing up after the meeting there is a clap of thunder, a black-out – and the story that would have resulted from the collaboration takes place before his very eyes.

What an amazing cast and performers made me and my 8 year old granddaughter laugh all the way through would have watched it over and over again well worth the trip from barnsley and lovely theatre

User

Went to watch Cinderella 23 December 2016, with my family and friends. Loved every minute of it was fantastic from performance to staff and theatre. xxx

User

Went to see the matinee performance of the Alan Ayckbourn play, Roundelay.

I had never been to the LBT or saw an Alan Ayckbourn play before.

The theatre (downstairs) where the performance was played was made small with double row seats set out in a squared off formation to ensure you were "up close and personal" with the actors. The welcome in and exit out was courteous. The male toilets were clean. Overall a 5 star first time experience.

The play itself is five little acts randomly decided by an audience participation lottery in which balls with the acts on them are drawn from a bag. This gives the play 120 clever permutations which could leave you wondering wtf is going on if the balls are picked in a challenging order.

Having seen it for the first time without any preparation read ups I was indeed confused anyway until the very end. You come out the performance thinking about the different orders it could have been played as all the acts are interlinking in one way or another. Clever!

I'm still trying to figure out about the dead mother aspect in one of the acts. So I would go back and get a different view on it. One down 119 to go.- ingenious money maker. My kind of man!

Dick and Lotty who put on the performance were fantastic! Although amateurs the acting was exceptional. I now would like to see more ALan Ayckbourn plays. So in summing up the theatre setting, the play and the good lady who took me wants me to come back for more!

Well Done

We had a fabulous time watching Dick Whittington. The costumes and scenery were awesome. I have seen many professional Pantomimes over the years; it was very professional and entertaining. King Rat and Dame Sarah stole the show

User

We came to watch our first family pantomime Cinderella, which was so magical and just the best family experience. Seats were great on the first tier facing the stage.

We came yesterday for our first children's ballet and thankfully were moved to the stalls from tier 2 side view, which imo was all restricted viewing and would have been so disappointed otherwise. The theatre is beautiful and the staff really look after you, the helpful and accomodating ladies last night really made all the difference to receiving 5* feedback! Probably Huddersfield's finest asset xx

User

The show was very good, funny as well as a modern take on Cinderella, Lawrence Batley is a bit too expensive not the show, the drinks and sweets for sale, for kids but it's a nice place

User

Sitting here in the interval , I can honestly say it's amongst the best I've seen , we went to Bradford last week and the children were petrified, today they are thoroughly enjoying it and so are the adults ... well done to you all

Paid for me and my kids and my parents to go to see cinderella for a gift for my parents for Christmas. We all loved it and I could go back again to see it again I enjoyed it that much. Made a deal with my parents as they have everything they need that I will pay for us to go the pantomime every year for them for Christmas as we all could not think of a better way of spending time as a family during the festive season. Will def be back for Jack and the beanstalk next year see you then x

User

Loved watching ruby wax very entertaining but as for the steward at the door found her very rude tier 1 door 2 on 1 occasion she gripped my shoulder quite hard and spat in my ear will you stop doing that aggressively because my group had all been given a packet of Maltese and we opened them but she chose me then there were the empty drink cup we had put on the ledge so not to leave rubbish on the floor but guess what we then got nastily spoken too again so we put them on the floor I suggest Laurence batley theatre you have a good look at this member of staff because of her rudeness and arrogance I and my friend will not return shes got short grey hair and glasses and has no customer service skills in her 60 s and should know better disgusting

User

LBT is an amazing venue for the performing arts. I've had the privilege of watching both my Farther and my Daughter perform there on numerous occasions in the past.

The venue comes alive to every performance and provides the appropriate atmosphere for each.

User

Just been to see The Ugly Duckling, two adults, two 6 year olds and a 3 year old, equally enjoyed by all. Really friendly staff, a lovely experience all round.

User

I went with my wife and 3 year old daughter to see Cinderella. Fabulous. The little one was enthralled and I never stopped laughing. It was wonderful. This is the first professional pantomime staged at LBT and you would never have guessed ! Well done !

User

I went on New Years Eve to watch Cinderella with my son and nephew. Our seats were row C right at the front, brilliant view absolutely fantastic pantomime very well performed (far better than last year in Halifax booked through Unison on both occasions). Will definitely return to LBT again as yesterday was my first visit but certainly not my last.

User

Fantastic evening at the Cinderella Pantomine tonight. The best panto we have ever been to. It was funny, touching and felt like we were watching family. Will definitely be coming back to Jack and the Beanstalk next year :)

User

Attended lots of performances at LBT from kids workshops to the annual panto. Friendly yet professional staff. Lovely well kept building. Fair priced tickets. NEVER disappointed.

User

Always a good performance at the Lawrence Batley Theatre. This time we eatched Dick Wittington and it was great family atmosphere. All the actors, dancers, back stage and everyone who works hard to make this performance. It was very enjoyable and gets all the audience take take part. Well done everyone for all their hard work that has been put in to it. xx

We went to this venue for the first time this weekend with our guide dogs as we attended the Grand Northern Ukulele Festival. The place was extremely accessible with disabled toilets on both floors that I went to and extremely helpful front of house staff who helped us find seats and ensure that we were comfortable when watching Ukulele acts perform. In fact, on the Sunday, the lady who had been helping us in the main theatre made a point of coming over to ask if we were going there again and said she would ensure that we got seated. If I have one piece of feedback it would be that if possible, make chairs available for the outside courtyard. On the Saturday, my friend really struggled as she currently has an issue with her feet. As a result of a lack of places to sit, she couldn't stay outside to watch the outdoor performances and was told that it wouldn't be possible to take chairs out. On the Sunday however, a fellow festival goer went to the nearby coffee shop and brought us some chairs. Over all though a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

User

Sadly we booked front row - which are impossible to sit in - really should be marked as limited viewing - asked if we could change which we did at an extra cost if £2.00 each! Apart from that a great evening!
