Did you know you can currently get a FREE 7 day swimming pass?
Whether you are wanting to burn calories, tone up or lose weight, swimming gives you a full body workout as it uses more of your body's major muscle groups than other forms of cardio exercise. A gentle swim can burn over 200 calories in just half an hour, more than double that of walking!
Many swimmers say it eases aches and pains and helps them sleep.

Part-closure of Leeds Inner Ring Road on Wednesday night for bridge inspection
Part of the Leeds Inner Ring Road will be closed tonight (Wednesday) for an urgent inspection of a city centre bridge.
The work will be carried out on the Calverley Street bridge, with the Inner Ring Road (A58M) being closed in both directions from Wellington Street to Marsh Lane from 9pm until 5am on Thursday.
... The inspection is needed to check for damage following an overweight vehicle crossing the bridge over the weekend. Initial inspections have been carried out on the bridge but a more thorough assessment is now needed to see if any structural damage has been caused.
The closure will be fully signed with diversions in place. All efforts will be made to minimise disruption while the work is carried out, which is required on safety grounds. Leeds City Council is looking into the cause of the issue.

Do you want to be rewarded for being a good egg? Then get yourself down to a recycle reward machine at Beckett University or Kirkgate Market!
Recycle reward machines are common around parts of Europe and can help improve the quality of our recycling. Now they're coming to Leeds to give you a chance to get money off at participating retailers when you recycle a can, bottle or coffee cup! They’re starting at Beckett University and Kirkgate Market and will be testing different r...ewards to see what's needed to incentivise recycling. More locations will be announced soon.
Check out this video: http://socsi.in/4X69d

Launching today! #LeedsByExample is the most ambitious collaboration to-date and addresses a growing challenge. We’re consuming more food and drink on the go, but lots of packaging isn’t recycled. Every year in the UK we get through 13 billion plastic bottles, 9 billion drinks cans and 2.5 billion coffee cups.
You can now recycle your empty plastic, cans, and coffee cups throughout Leeds city centre. You're never more than 5 minutes away from a recycling point - find your nea...rest point here: http://socsi.in/bdrdw
Also keep an eye out on Briggate for some new 'recycle reward machines' - which will give out money-off vouchers for participating market retailers in return for your empty bottles.
