Mill Hill Chapel Description

We are a liberal religious community offering an
approach to spirituality which is participatory and inclusive.

Unitarianism is an open theological
denomination which emphasises freedom of
conscience and affirms the inherent worth of all without regard to age, ability, race, sexuality /identity or gender.

With roots in the Judaeo-Christian tradition it
acknowledges the validity of all approaches to the
Divine and sacred.

A wonderful service, as always, from Jo James - "Listen to the silence in the space between two chimes of an 18th century clock.". The contemplation of silence and prayer was punctuated by our beautiful grandfather clock during the service.
Candles were lit for loss, gratitude, positive choices and celebration today.
Have a blessed Sunday and a blessed week everyone ❤️

Words are hard to come by to express our sorrow and condolences as the tragedy unfolds in Sri Lanka. The world shudders at the savagery of terrorism, but must bear responsibility too for the colonialism and structural violence which underpins it. We must stand together in solidarity and in truth as we pray.

Lights beaming through our chapel at the close of Good Friday vigil.

Our in-house imam has just sung a call to Friday prayers taking place in The Priestley Hall. Our sanctuary is also open for a quiet Good Friday reflection for most of the afternoon today. You’re welcome to come and share the peace with us.

We are incredibly sad to watch the tragic scenes from Paris unfold. It’s heartbreaking to witness a collapse of an icon that stood unshaken for centuries. We also think of the heartbreak of our Catholic friends who looked forward to mark the Holy Week and Easter at Notre-Dame and gather there in worship.

If you like a fizzy drink every now and again, you can thank our former minister!

Exciting times ahead! Stay tuned! 🏳️‍🌈

“In peace” badges - A new initiative for those of us not quite ready to jump straight into socialising after the service. A gentle way to let others know that you want to stay in the chapel and enjoy the peace undisturbed... for as long as you want.

Today we prayed through tears at #Fridayprayers #Jummah with #Muslims@MillHill "May we demonstrate the beauty of Islam with our response to these events" Amen

User

Thanks for today. I felt very welcomed and left with joy in my heart.

Mill Hill offers a variety of events and regular meetings that are exciting and worthwhile. The ethos here is to share the wealth of religious wisdom alongside the ever changing insights of secular and scientific knowledge, all are welcome to join a diverse group, we are keen to welcome new people to contribute to an already diverse mix of approaches to the sacred. There is no dogma or creed you would need to subscribe to, the result is a rich spiritual resource.

Mill Hill chapel is situated slap-bang in the centre of Leeds (couldn't be anymore central if it tried!). We are an openminded, welcoming bunch of non-conformists who believe in religious freedom and who are flexible and open-minded enough to accept that everybody has different views and no one view is right but that it's personal to the individual. We've just appointed a new minister, who is now on holiday, but please go and visit if you're in the area of City Square, see what we have to offer spiritually and how welcoming we are to new people.

Lovely space for our Weight Watchers meeting!

It was lovely to visit Mill Hill Unitarian Chapel in January 2016. The service was very inspiring, and we were made to feel very welcome.

I served at Mill Hill Chapel between 2011 and 2012, taking services as an assistant minister and thought it one of the most beautiful church buildings I had ever experienced. The stained glass windows were exquisite, the individually carved pew ends were a delight and the chancel a sight for sore eyes. I especially was enthralled by the sound of the organ, especially played by their organist Anthony Norcliffe, who was brilliant musician. I will never forget my days with the Mill Hill community. The building should be preserved for posterity.

Hand on heart, 5/5 every time, we made contact with Reverend Jo James over a year ago regarding our homeless project. We'd approached a few others but Jo saw the light in the project and welcomed us with a warm heart.

It turns out that the Chapel has a multi-faith congregation, some beautiful people. Yes this Chapel is the only one I know of with multifaith symbols on plaque at the main entrance, stating 'sanctuary for all'. Hence this chapel reflects many of our own beliefs and has come to feel pretty much like home.

It has some mesmerizing historical architecture inside and out. A good space for functions, our friends from palestine (PAL) came over and gave an amazing presentation, the chapel was well equipped, white screen, plenty of tables and chairs, light refreshments. Is there anything this chapel doesn't have? Considering its location, slap bang in the centre of town, city square, facing the queens Hotel, the rates are Very reasonable. It has my vote of confidence every time. 3 Cheerz to Mill Hill Chapel
