CHECK YOUR LOG BOOKS (V5C) AND PLATED WEIGHTS.
If there has been any alterations to your vehicle ensure your Log book reflects the maximum weight of your vehicle..... it sounds simple but we come across it regularly.
For example, yesterday, someone contacted us how to up-rate a vehicle as they ordered and received a vehicle specified to carry 120 tonnes but the log book had not been changed and still stated 40 tonne gross weight, they were running the vehicle 80 tonnes over weight!!!!!!!!
Guidance for Vocational Drivers:
1. Complete 35 Periodic Training every 5 years to gain your Driver Qualification Card (DQC) to drive professionally. 2. Always carry your DQC with you. 3. Notify the DVLA of Medical Conditions (90% of drivers that notify still keep all their entitlements)... 4. Renew your licence around 60 days before it is due to expiry in case of any issues. 5. You do NOT need to return your old Driving Licence or Tachograph Driver Card when renewing them. 6. DAILY checks of the vehicle you are using MUST be carried out and the correct paperwork be completed to prove this has been done. 7. If you have a Digital Tachograph Card but are driving an Analogue Vehicle you must still carry your Digital Card with you. 8. All motoring offences must be notified to your Employee even offences that have been committed in a personal vehicle outside of work.

A firm’s new application has been turned down due to compliance issues on existing licences. They applied for a new licence for a new Ltd company and surrender an existing Ltd operator Licence.
Due to ''ineffective'' systems including; driver defect reporting not functioning correctly, an above average MOT failure rate and no planned periodic brake performance testing of the fleet on 2 existing licences the new licence was no...t granted.
The existing licence holders were told they had to get an independent audit of maintenance and drivers’ hours systems, put drivers on a CPC training module for driver walk round checks and perform roller brake tests on vehicles at every PMI.
