Top-class gym and credit to the staff.

I joined the gym over a year ago attending on a regular basis, pretty much doing the same routine and achieving little progress. Since the beginning of the year I signed up for PT and my progress has come on leaps and bounds, credit where it’s due Camilla Willows is a top-class PT. Our sessions are constantly varied and she pushes me to achieving my goals, for anyone considering PT she has my recommendation.

User

Nice little spa day at Nuffield in Wakefield. Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and a facial finished with a nice meal and fizz! - lovely

User

Mainly go to the classes which are reay good and the instructors are motivating. After my initial MOT it took nearly 3 month to get my programe scheduled. The PT has tried selling their Personal Training sessions to me despite me stating from the beginning that i don't have the funds. The monthly membership is expensive as it is. This gave me lost faith in the PT and i have since just stuck to the classes x5 per week instead. Other than that, a really good gym.

User

I've been a member at Nuffield Wakefield for several years and have also been a member at several other gyms in this area. In my personal experience, I feel Nuffield Wakefield is far superior to any other gym for the following reasons:

- Staff are always helpful, friendly and efficient

- The personal trainers are friendly, knowledgable and highly motivated

- The place is clean and tidy and when I have reported issues, such as faulty equipment, they appear to have been repaired quickly

- The club has a wide variety of members and feels inclusive

All in all, a fantastic club which I'm pleased to be a member of. Keep up the good work!

User

Fantastic gym and facilities, staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Just started being personal trained here would highly recommend to anyone considering it! Keep up your great work Nuffield Wakefield.

User

Everything the classes are spot on instructors are amazing the front house staff are so pleasant and help full the fitness staff are first class and Liam is great at his job.the cafe caters for all and the staff in there first Clara run by Ben?

All in all Cassey you do a great job your staff are the best

User

Been here since January. Best gym by far in Wakefield, staff and members are amazing. Great variety of classes to choose something for yourself to mix that training regimehighly recommended

User

After being a member for over 15 years,I think the time has come to cancel mymembership. I have done Pilates with many different instructors over this time, using many methods of booking classes however at 7 45am this morning I tried to book for 31 January class and find that the class is full and the waiting list is full. If this is the case maybe more classes for Pilates are needed

User

The Staff,Environment and equipment are 5/5 BUT .....

the car park is terrible to park and I go early afternoon 2pm and it’s always packed !

The male changing rooms are not very well kept there’s old grime and the toilet area is often vile!

I am yet to use the showers, I don’t have big hopes!.

User

Still probably the best gym in Wakefield but you have to pay a high price. This used to be Greens, a private gym with a personal approach. Nuffield is very corporate and it seems they are more interested in making money than individual health concerns. Everything is now done online and you have to book classes, appointments and find out about timetables on a computer. This makes it very difficult or impossible for many members. The class tutors who have been there for many years are still as good but the whole approach is very impersonal.

User

My husband and myself have been members for a couple of years now. He would like to use the pool but whenever we visit there is always a mother and child in the 1 changing room. He needs my assistance so we have had to abandon swimming. He attends wellbeing twice a week which is brilliant but for the last couple of weeks there are non blue badge holders parking in the spaces provided. We have been told by the staff that this permitted as there isn't enough space in the carpark. This has made our visits stressful. I have tried discussing this with the manager but he isn't available. We want to know what the policy for disabled parking is.

User

I have severe walking problems due to ms but feel exercise is essential to keeping me mobile . This is why I joined the gym several years ago having transferred from total fitness because I wanted more classes. I cannot use any of the machines so rely on just going to classes. I find with the new system which allows booking from midnight I can no longer go to any suitable yoga classes and others take much more effort than before i.e. I have to get up early. I get far too tired to stay up so late. This system is certainly very discriminatory for people like me and many others I expect. I also find that the disabled spaces at the front of the gym are now used by people who do not have blue badges and reception say it's ok for people to do this. I nearly had to return home today as I cannot park down the road and walk. The parking has got very busy and I can only think it is not gym members filling it up.

User

Fantastic gym and been a member here for several years. Great facilities and very well maintained. However, today I had forgotten my card twice within a 4 week period and was not allowed to enter the gym without paying a £2.50 charge, for a member that pays over £70 per month I found it very unreasonable. Was told it was a policy (that I had not agreed to, nor does it state anything of the nature in my contract or terms and conditions booklet) Felt very let down. I have now submitted my cancellation request for 2 members and will no longer be a member of Nuffield. All for £2.50, great way to do business guys.

User

This morning I was very disappointed. I only use the pool facilities and pay full membership with no discounts.

The middle hot tub is out of action and now the end tub is not working.

The steam room is not useable for the majority of the time. And today the showers were very cold.

I drive 15 miles just to use the facilities that are not working.

Communication to members could be vastly improved as could the investment in our gym.

If it weren't for Liz (housekeeping) and Russell Connell (lifeguard) no one would ever listen to member concerns and then actually do something about them.

I don't want to sound too negative as I enjoy my membership most of the time, but I feel that if this downhill slide is not halted soon then members will leave..

User

My wife Ann has been a member for around 20 years and has made many friends, all the staff are fantastic. This is to warn possible new members of the incredible difficulty in booking some of the classes, you need to be on the ball at 7am even Sundays to book some of the classes eight days in advance otherwise you are on a waiting list. just think twice before joining. User

Having been a member of Greens now Nuffield almost since it opened, I joined in Aug/Sept 2000 I feel I have to say that the standards have fallen through the floor since Nuffield took control. My comments are all pool side based as I do not use the gym facilities, I joined to swim only. The staff are wonderful particularly Russell the Lifeguard but the level of poolside maintenance is abysmal. The poolside showers were out of action for weeks if not months, the steam room has not worked properly for months and months, either dangerously hot and the door has to be left ajar or no steam at all. Everything that is reported has a waiting time of weeks , if we are lucky, and in some cases months. Apparent recently the pool temperature couldnt be taken as a battery was needed for thermometer. I know of several loyal long standing members who are leaving to take their custom elsewhere. Greens used to be without a shadow of a doubt the best fitness centre in Wakefield. That claim can no longer be made and if I didn’t live so close that I can walk then I would be leaving too. It makes me very sad to have to say these things and rate the place so poorly but I am so disillusioned with the way, what was a wonderful place, is being run.
