Many of my clients block book for a month or two as we work towards a specific goal.
You don't have to block book though. A personal trainer doesn't have to be a long term commitment.

Here's another pic. This client's body composition has changed dramatically whilst her weight has stayed pretty much the same throughout. This is one of the reasons why you really need to understand your goal before you set it.
Most people say 'I want to lose some weight' when they really mean they want to get leaner and/or lose some body fat.
... The big win here for me is the attitude towards her diet. We have worked towards understanding how to be accountable, how to prep around a lifestyle and factor in hen dos and weekends out. No magic. Just hard work and application.

I take great pride in educating my clients to make the right choices that lead to a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. I don't do quick fixes, they're pointless.
I analyse my clients lifestyle, habits and metrics before prescribing a bespoke program aligned to their personal goal. No one is identical so neither are my programs. Some fundamentals stay true but everything else is based on the needs of my client.

Realised this week I am officially 10 years working in the fitness industry!

Another PT tip:
If your coach/PT/instructor spends more time texting away on their phone than paying attention to your form and safety, you need to bin them off ASAP.
See this all too often.
... Paying for PT often costs a premium (if it doesn't, then that's another subject for another post) and you are paying for that hour of your PT's undivided time (and the prep/analysis outside of your session).
If you feel you're not getting this, call them out or simply swap your PT.

"I just want to get toned."
The worst phrase anyone ever said to a personal trainer.
Are you this person or do you know this person? Do you keep going to the gym or keep dieting and not getting results? Do you try every fad diet and fluctuate?
... Don't worry if you do, it's not your fault. You are sold false ideals and quick fixes that don't work.
You need to take control and accountability for your actions. Don't eat all the chips and tell me you also want abs. You need to work hard but it's not all in the gym.
You need to manage your calorie intake and eat a prescribed deficit to 'lose weight'.
Use this example; If you are trying to save money, take home ┬Ż1500 and spend ┬Ż1800, it's just not going to work is it?
Same theory applies.
And for people who say they eat nothing but don't lose weight. They are either lying or not recording their intake correctly.
Anyone who says different is also lying, trying to sell you something or both.
Don't fall for it. Take control and own it.
Also never tell a PT that "you want to get toned."
