Today I attended the day surgery unit of Pinderfields Hospital for arthroscopy on my right knee cartilage.

I exaggerate not one jot when I speak of my utter and profound admiration for *every* single member of staff with whom I came into contact.

From the surgeon, anaesthetist and the rest of the surgical team, to the physiotherapist, the post-surgical nurses and the domestic staff - cracking brews, ladies and gentlemen - they were all incredibly professional, while being warm, thoughtful and remarkably human, even while they were rushed off their feet.

I might have had frustrations over waiting times and layers of hoops through which to jump - with my knee! - but it's welcoming to learn that, even at a time of massive over-capacity, at its heart, the NHS is still a brilliant institution, chock-full of marvellous staff.

My mum has just had a knee replacement. All the staff were absolutely incredible . I can’t thank them enough . They even were there for me , bringing me hot drinks while I patiently waited for Mum to come back from theatre . I have heard a lot of bad things said about the hospital , but need not , thank you to everyone on g38 for everything xxx

Keeping to the theme this week I wanted to give a big shout out to the staff at Pinderfields, in particular all at Gate 28 who looked after me following my numerous ops over the last couple of months, Breast Care Services (Breast Care Nurses) for their continued support and thank you all at at Gate 28a Plastics for your continued care, shoulders to cry on, the pep talks, laughs and for just being there for me. What amazing people you all are xxxx

I was taken into hospital early on Thursday in excruciating pain. The staff were thorough, caring and genuinely lovely. When i was eventually placed on a ward ( ward 37 which was clean, tidy and very welcoming) I had an old lady with dementia opposite me. The way the staff cared for her was absolutely outstanding! Every single member of staff, from consultant to tea lady, was so genuinely lovely and attentive that it brought tears to my eyes! Well done to the staff of gate 37, you're an amazing bunch of people

I took my little boy to the children’s a&e at Pinderfields.

The staff were fantastic with him, very engaging as he loves to talk to people. They explained everything that was going to happen to him in a way he would understand. I live in Huddersfield but always go to Pinderfields. He’s not happy at having a pot on but the staff put him at ease

I had to visit a and e on Friday morning as I had a suspected broken bone in my hand after a fall. I can’t praise the staff highly enough - efficient, professional, courteous and respectful. I was in and out of the hospital in just over an hour - no broken bones- the media are always ready to criticise the NHS - it s the unseen everyday stuff that gets forgotten.

Having experienced 8 days and 7 nights on Ward 32 of Pinderfields I can honestly say I have never received better treatment. My condition is fairly specialist and 'rare'. Despite the complex nature of my disorder all staff were open, friendly, caring and selfless in their approach to their patients. I have seen staff spend their day off charging their patients' credit on their phones and bringing items into the hospital to benefit their patients. As a society we need to realise that this is not the norm, nor is it what is expected.

The nurses, sisters, doctors and HCAs all go far beyond the call of duty to put patient need above their own. Although this is a tribute to them it is also a negative against the NHS; how can people prioritise the needs of others consistently above their own. Our doctors, nurses and care staff need their rest and their strength in order to help those around them .

From entering the a&e department today I cannot fault the way team members treated my 4 year old. The receptionist (June) was amazing reassuring & friendly to my daughter. The triage team also amazing & friendly (sorry can’t remember all there names but Kim & Vickie & another 2 + a student). The x-ray department was faultless & quick making her as comfortable & feeling as safe as possible. We went to the canteen where staff there also made a fuss & special effort (they’d run out of chocolate pudding but ‘made’ 1 with a brownie & custard). And finally the doctor was very friendly & put my daughter at ease straight away. I couldn’t of asked or wanted nicer, friendlier, efficient people looking & helping my daughter. This is my daughters 1st experience of a hospital & she was petrified & I can honestly say her fear has completely gone. Well done all you are prime examples of what our NHS needs & in some departments lack.

Can’t thank the staff enough for their care of our little boy yesterday in the burns ward. Very sympathetic not only him but also us as parents after a traumatic day. They were caring and attentive!! Thank god we were sent here by HRI because the way we were dealt with there was the complete opposite. We are back again tomorrow morning for a follow up and although it’s a bit of a journey from Beverley, we are glad to be returning here because of the level of care and professionalism shown by both nurses and doctors that saw us yesterday. Thank you so much

Can't fault the Children's Ward.

My 4 year old was in for day surgery today and the staff were lovely with him, and so helpful and straight forward with us.

We had about a 4 hour wait, but there was plenty to keep him occupied (Play room + TV over his bed). Very vigilant about his allergies which was brilliant.

I was able to go make a few cups of coffee while we waited too at no cost.

Once he'd come round properly, eaten and had his pain killers we were free to go home once his cannula was out, which was great, no more waiting around.

Big thank you to the staff, he's right as rain already you wouldn't even know he'd had an op a few hours ago.

Pinderfields hospital, both old and new have provided excellent care and service to my family, friends and I over the years.

The staff I have encountered in all these years have all done an excellent job and faced with the great budgetary challenges of today still do an amazing job.

One thing that really makes my blood boil though is that although the site is supposedly a non smoking one,a few irresponsible, stupid thoughtless people who do continue to smoke do so outside the main entrance right next to the no smoking signs....both patients with smoking related illnesses and I presume their relatives just puff away at the entrance....causing non smokers to have to endure having to walk through clouds of disgusting clouds of cancer causing cigarette smoke.....surely something can be done to eliminate this problem !

My husband had a diabetic hypo which is very rare for him to have, I called ambulance out they took us to pinderfields hospital, staff there were very good with him one nurse kept us laughing which was nice to say it was early hours of the morning. Thanks to all the staff involved we was able to go home at 3.30am which we was happy about. Big thanks to you all ambulance staff too they were great also came very fast... you all do a fantastic job

I’ve had lots of bad/meh experiences here but I was brought in due to extreme pain in my stomach. They were calm when they couldn’t find a vein, they comforted me so nicely, then they squeezed me in late on a night, definitely operating later than usual and saved my life. Even though I had no temperature and morphine pretty much fixed the pain, they knew there was something wrong. My appendix had become gangrenous and probably would have burst in the night and killed me had they not operated as soon as they did. Their help in recovery was also exemplary as well as care to take home. The nurses and doctors of ward 34 are angels

Daughter was booked in for a tonsillectomy on friday 11 may 2018 (Gate 40 - admissions unit), everything was going ok till she started to bleed and they had to take her back to theatre and then stay overnight on ward 32a

All the staff (both medical and non mexical) involved with her care have been amazing : supportive, informative, polite, kind, caring and reassuring especially when she had to go back to theatre.

The only downside was the smoking at the entrance

Thanks again to everyone - apologises for not remembering names however keep up the fabulous service you provide xxx

‪Been here all week with my daughter son in law and now grandson ashamed of all the people who will not walk away from the hospital to smoke but instead stand outside the main entrance where the first floor is the maternity unit. I have spoken to security twice who promised to move people away but have not and today I counted 25 people smoking 3 in wheelchairs who were pushed there by staff all smoking. Reported it to security who told me they are too short staffed but if I want I can ask people to move. I have just done this and not one person either acknowledged me or moved @pinderfieldnhstrust you should be ashamed‬

So... After my mum being admitted to A & E on Monday via ambulance. Then being dismissed with a "Viral Infection" 2 hours later, with the instruction of take paracetamol and drink plenty of fluid .

I have eventually managed to get another doctor out to her today... She had a temperature of 40 and has been unable to move for 4 days without passing out.

The doctor this morning prescribed a basic antibiotic.

Well goodness me. Tonight it's as though she has risen from the dead. After giving her 3 antibiotic tablets.

Completely understand you are stretched to the limit. But also a little more care & attention could have prevented her from being so poorly for so long.

Dread to think if she had been any older this could have been so much worse.

Sort it out. It's disgusting.

Shocking treatment of my Mum at Pinderfields.

Taken on assessment ward Gate 12 Sunday afternoon with heart failure.

Body swelled with water retention.

Assessed by consultant told would be in overnight and referred to cardiology for Monday assessment.

At 11am Monday told she was going to be s3nt home.

Been told there was water on her lungs asked to come back at a later date for a heart scan and given high dosage of water tablets.

Her general conditions meant walking to the toilet and back merely 6 yards she was gasping for breath.

At 1400 we were told her drugs had been ordered - 3 hours after advise of discharge and at 1600 they turned up.

Then had to wait until 1630 for a porter to get her to the exit.

Pinderfields your treatment of my Mum was atrocious.

You will be reported to PALS.

Disgusting.

No referral for onward help through Social Care at all.

I’ve had severe abdominal pain for 2 days around my appendix. Rang 111 who wanted to send an ambulance straight away but couldn’t guarantee it would come quickly enough so advise to make my own way as I needed to be seen within the hour. First time of going to Pinderfields and it will be my last. Arrived and told reception who signed us in and sent us to the waiting room. 2 hours later still hadn’t been seen so asked told I was next. An hour later went and asked and was told there was 2 people ahead of me. 4.5 hours later was told there was 3 people ahead of me and was looking at another hour of waiting. I’ve given up and gone home. Every time we went through to ask it seemed like the staff were avoiding us and didn’t want to talk and the fact we got different answers every time makes me think they haven’t got a clue. I’m never getting those 4.5 hours of my life back and uf I get worse I’m off to LGI.
