Christmas baubles (even more) continued ...
Christmas baubles continued....
Our Christmas baubles all ready to send to our French pen pals! On the back everyone chose one French Christmas song, one English Christmas song and then wrote a little Christmas message in French in the middle!
Look at the lovely pencil cases KS2 made last half term:
After chatting with the Head of MFL at Ryburn, this evening, I was interested to learn that every child that goes there now will learn French in years 7 and 8 when they can then choose to continue with it to GCSE and can also choose to add Spanish from Y9 🇫🇷🎉👍
I filmed a small group of children today singing a song we have learnt as part of our ‘people who help us’ topic. Sorry about the shaky filming - I was trying to multitask! 👩🚒👨🏻🚒🎤🎬
First lesson back today went super well! Well done guys 👍🇫🇷. Unsurprisingly I have been thinking about food again today 💭😜 and my mind drifted back, yet again, to my childhood meals in France. My mouth is now watering for a ‘petit suisse’ which I often ate as dessert. It is a very soft French cheese which comes in a yoghurt pot. You ‘plop’ the cheese onto your plate from the pot, remove the paper wrapper and then you can eat it - but at this stage we would normally roll it in sugar before eating it!!! Mmmmm!
I have been thinking back fondly to the days when I spent a full 6 weeks every summer with my family in France. I’m sure my family cooked me many weird and wonderful things (I do remember tomates farcies were delicious - merci Charles). However, a typical meal in my memory cooked by my aunties normally consisted of one of the following: Starter : melon 🍈 / soup 🥣 / pâté/ artichoke/ tomato salad 🍅 Main: steak haché/ roast beef/ chicken 🍗 Followed by: green beans/ green salad.../ flagolets beans Followed by: pommes noissettes/pasta/ potatoes 🥔 / chips Followed by: Emmental 🧀 or petit Suisse Dessert: chocolate mousse/ crème caramel/ chocolate éclair/ ice cream 🍨 Mealtimes were always very important and took up most of the evening. None of the courses were ever missed out and bread 🥖 (which we collected fresh from the bakery every morning) had its own important role to play at each meal. The on going argument between my dad and my French relatives was when the cheese course should be eaten!!! Wine and water were always present on the table and the adults had a much wider selection of cheeses for the cheese course.

If you are looking for something to do this holiday why not create some language stones - maybe you could use the vocabulary sheets as inspiration - draw a picture on one side and write the French word on the other 🇫🇷: https://m.facebook.com/Language-Stones-26 6761760561448/
I hope you are all enjoying your holidays ☀️🇫🇷
Thank you so much!
Allez les Bleus ⚽️.
Great job guys. Enjoy your summer 🇫🇷🍦☀️
Topical ⚽️ 🇫🇷:
My son has thoroughly enjoyed his French lessons that he has been doing at nursery. It has been wonderful listening to him practising his french words. He has learnt his numbers, colours, how to say his name, transport, holidays and much more. Thank you for providing such a wonderful opportunity.
