#Repost @thefitnesschef_ In simple terms, consuming 1600 calories will have the same effect on an individual’s body composition, regardless of the calorie source. I’m using 1600 as a relative calorie example here, but the principle is the same for any calorie amount. - -
... The food on the left accumulates to 1600 calories. If that is your daily target for fat loss, you could repeat this meal daily and succeed - this is fact. However, the problem is that it’s just one meal. You will likely still have 2-3 addition meals in that day. Additional meals = additional calories. FYI the ingredients on the left are not particularly satiating and are probably not conducive to optimal health if eaten in heavy regularity. - -
On the right - There is a lot more food here. In fact, it’s a full day of eating. 1600 calories deriving from varied nutrients and inclusive of smartly selected treats. Therefore it will probably keep you satiated all day, reducing the need for more calories. - -
The long and short of it is, if you’re overweight or obese, you are eating too many calories for the amount you move. I would go further to estimate that consistent unaware consumption of calorie dense foods plays a pivotal role in creating a calorie surplus, simply due to the lack of value for calories consumed. - - Calorie dense foods such as takeaways/fast food are not inherently bad. But this graphic shows that it’s probably a good idea that you become aware of how many calories you consume from these sources, whilst being aware that you could consume a much higher volume of food for the same calorie amount. - - The resulting logic will probably be that consumption of meals such as Macdonald’s are done sparingly, whereas high volume, calorie smart foods you enjoy are going to be a better idea for a sustainable, balanced calorie/nutrient intake 🤓. - - #thefitnesschef #macdonalds #bigmac #fastfood #caloriedeficit #puregym #caloriecounting #fatloss #calories #losefat #flexibledieting #mealplan #mealprep #fatlosstips #fatlosscoach #nutritionfacts #nutritioncoach

Thank you so much for freezing my account FREE of cost even though I was willing to pay. I was so surprised to know your staff (Dan) knew about ramadan when I mentioned I would like to freeze my account as I would be fasting. Even though I was happy to pay the small amount of 5 or 6 quid, I was not charged a penny due to my personal beliefs that have nothing to do with Pure Gym. I am so touched by this sweet gesture and a very happy Pure Gym Canary Wharf customer. I will miss the awesome classes :( but thanks a lot <3

My Pure Gym is in Ilford. I had an arthroscopy and needed to exercise my right knee. I was welcomed by Darren who is simply amazing: he showed me all the areas and the machines and explained me all the various memberships available. The gym is very clean and there are loads of machines available so you don’t have to “queue” to do your exercises. Lots of interesting classes. I love it! Sarah

User

I'm a member of the gym at Chatham dockside and I love it! The classes are great and the personal trainers are great! For what you pay, you cannot complain and I definitely get my monies worth, with how many classes I go to! The gym is a good size and I have not had to wait for any machines etc.

I love it at Pure gym Bidston. Everyone, staff & gym goers are all really friendly & motivational. I started in Feb & have toned up, lost weight & gained lots more energy. My P/T Drew Lewis is tough but knows how to get the best out of me & Haithem has really helped me with my diet & fitness during the lifestyle course which I highly recommend. All the staff are great tho. The gym is just part of my daily routine now. Love it!

User

I have been using PureGym Leeds/South and North and its very refreshing from other gym clubs and brands. I find the staff are very friendly and helpful when it comes to giving advice.

One thing that bothers me though is PureGym Leeds North as big as it is could do with a drinking water fountain downstairs. As every time I am training and want to refill my bottle I'll have to go all the way upstairs which really disrupts my training as it takes almost 3 to 5 minutes depending on how busy the gym is.

User

I have been a member of Pure Gym York for about 3 weeks following a 6 month break since leaving 24/7 Fitness in York due to the way they decided to penalise men by opening a female only area but letting females have full unrestricted access but men not, but we all paid the same and a lot of women disagreed with it!

Oh well there loss but I must say Pure Gym is way better... for a start it is MUCH cleaner, people seem friendly and it is much busier.. Really enjoy visiting, lost almost 7 stones over the last 3-4 years, now to loose the remaining couple... Thank you Pure Gym, highly recommended :)

User

Love the Canterbury gym, excellent equipment and good facilities could do with a few signs though asking people to wipe down equipment, a few times I have been there, there has been people sweating and dripping all over the equipment and just get off and not clean it even though they have a towel!

User

Not a BAD gym, however, more equipment could help. There is only one leg press in the gym in anlaby and it’s a very popular machine. Due to this it’s hard to have the chance to use it. There are so many treadmills and cross trainers, could some not be replaced another leg press etc? Just an idea I’m currently in the gym and there’s one person using a treadmill and no one on the cross trainers

User

In regards to your Pontprennau, Cardiff branch.

Pros - 24/7, good selection of equipment, clean changing rooms with good showers, friendly staff.

Cons - MASSIVELY overcrowded A LOT of the time, TOO MANY classes going on at once (on different ends of the gym); as a person prone to sensory overloads having three sets of GOD AWFUL music (the two classes and the usual garbage coming out of the monitors in the middle) blasting at me, TWO headset wearing jocks screaming nonsensical stock phrases and not a hope in hell of a spot on the matts even for a string bean like me and ditto for a lot of machines it all gets a bit overwhelming, honestly I think it would for a lot of people.

All in all a good gym that does a lot right but the above is enough to sway me towards an alternative when it becomes available.

User

I've been a member of pure gym in Nuneaton for a few months now and I go at 530 am and I'm getting fed up of having to hunt around for dumbbells as lazy people just not putting any equipment back and the floor is constantly covered in barbell , dumbbells, and it's getting worse every time I go . I think you need to have more signs up telling them to put equipment away as this seems to work in other gyms .

Directed at Pure Gym Aldgate. This evening Thursday 4th April my 6.45pm yoga class did not happen for whatever reason.

As per usual when you go to find a staff they is none have no idea because those in the turquoise jackets don’t care about other classes except for the Pure Classes.

And we’re are the managers? Bring back front on desk staff.

I have to come from Gunnersbury every Thursday afternoon that is 22 stops in the District Line and literary rush out at 5.30pm last week there was problems on that line. I don’t have the privilege of working in the Aldgate area any other Pure Gym. My nearest one is still a tube or bus journey away.

I am sick to death of the lack of communication that you have with your members and what to be compensated for my time and effort. This is not the way to do business as it’s just all about numbers and not about wellbeing.

Something has to change!

User

the gym itself is good and the staff are helpful and friendly.

members services however and the policy for disabled access is horrendous.

WHY should a member with a disability be treated differently to an able member.

An able member does not have to have a safety induction, but a disabled member does, an able member just rings and joins, but a disabled member has to go through a long winded chat to get permission to have access through a "normal" door and fill out a form to say they have done said safety checks.

ridiculous and discrimatory.

EVERYBODY should be treated the same, i have now had my PIN suspended, just because i want to use the disable access and have to wait until someone contacts me.

A policy that is surely against the law.

User

The standards continue to slip at Pure Gym branches I've used (Hammersmith and Lambeth). In Lambeth, the aircon has been broken for the past few weeks - despite staff bringing this to your attention. Several pieces of equipment are also broken - the 'man down' sign has been there for weeks on a leg press machine. Everyone is walking around dripping in sweat due to various broken aircon units and 28-30C weather! Staff have told me to write it here as unless the gym users complain, you don't seem to care.

User

Very very disappointed . My girl had a taster session with a personal trainer here in Banbury and apart from him being 15 minutes late ,everything was just shouting 'UNPROFFESSIONAL' . Putting by his own super heavy weights like 35 kilos on bench,10 kg dumbbells for shoulder exercises ,40 kilos on leg extensions... For a female beginner ??? Ridiculous . All he was saying was ' come on come on you can do it . No corrections on form ,no telling what muscles each exercise was targeting ,no questions at all... He showed only machines apart from 1 exercise with dumbbells... No passion, just showing how he wants to get rid of her as fast as possible. If this is what we get for 30 pounds per hour ,fuck that... I can train her myself 10x better .... What i see is that its only for the money, and not for the wellbeing of the client...

User

Second session at Pure Gym Shawlands. It sucks. I cannot describe how soulless this place is. It is an endurance just attending. I need to find some other gym to attend this place can never work for me. It appears that unless you are involved with a Personal Trainer you don’t exist. It may be relatively cheap but what good is that if the place destroys your desire to train?

User

Just overheard a contractor outside your new gym on Hurst Street in Birmingham, discussing two guys standing outside Clone Zone, which is two doors down, with colleagues (one in Pure gym uniform) and saying that he’d like to ‘punch him [one of the guys from CZ] in the face’! Great advertising for a new business opening in the middle of Birmingham’s Gay Village. #homophobic

Greatest customer service disappointment of my life. My jacket was stolen at the gym, the manager wasn't helpful at all. He approached the situation as it was nothing 'serious', more like everyday thing. To this day I wonder if he does that to everyone or maybe it had something to do with me. I don't know maybe people steal at Pure Gym every single day. Then, when a manager promised me to give me a call about CCTV, he never called! I found the number and called him myself, but honestly he didn't seem to care and was kind of surprised with me doing something about theft. Thankfully we have police, who did amazing job and approached this situation seriously (well done!) and although my jacket was never found I am grateful for their work. Just when I thought things wouldn't get worse, I cancelled my membership through direct debit and still got charged. Now I paid £21.99 and lost my jacket (thanks). Waited almost 30 minutes (calling abroad, can't wait to get my bill) to talk to someone to find out that they can't do anything. Worst customer service ever. I used to love Pure Gym, but after this whole mess I would never ever come back there. I honestly don't recommend it, avoid it and just pick a different gym. I understand they're not responsible for stolen goods, but the quality of customer service, the way you approach these situations is something that cannot be ignored. Such a horrible experience that doesn't seem to end.

User

Great staff, but machines covered in old sweat that is actually eating into the paintwork. Dust everywhere, chewing gum in all the recesses on front of machines. Get a proper team of cleaners in and stop asking your staff to do it, they didn't train so they could around with a mop and bucket, just so you can save money on staff.

Gyms are ok . As for the customer service

Three of us spent over 1 1/2 hrs to get threw to customer service to be able to change are membership. Yes you will get the speel about high call volumes but this has been the case on every occasion no matter time or day .

Poor effort !!!

Something has to change!

the gym itself is good and the staff are helpful and friendly.

members services however and the policy for disabled access is horrendous.
