Went to the cafe on Saturday the food was lovely

User

Went for lunch today for the first time. I was expecting a glorified cafe, how wrong I was. The menu has been cleverly designed from a sandwich to a home cooked meal with fresh farm produce. The food was fantastic and was served in gourmet style, my burger was served on a wooden paddle with a bowl of home made cooked twice chips, my friend had the liver and onions in a red wine sauce, I had a little taste and the sauce was to die for and the liver melted in your mouth. The staff were extremely pleasant and the service exceptional. What a great view over the fields from the open beamed room. To top it all, I bought my mothers favourite in the shop, home made potted beef and dripping. I will be going back soon to sample a full plate of the liver and onions. Oh and they apparently do a great breakfast.

User

Went for lunch on Thursday, so great to see it so busy. The food was absolutely fabulous (giant Yorkshire, pork sandwich & pie and peas) it’s fresh home cooked, lots of choice and great value for money, it’s the perfect spot.

User

Visited on the opening day for the new cafe. Absolutely gorgeous food. Can really recommend the ploughman's lunch! People on the neighbouring table even got up to come across and admire it. Super !!

User

Top quality pies and meat get all my Xmas meat there just love it looking forward to going to the new cafe for breakfast

User

Merry Christmas everyone,

I have just finished lunch and had the rib of beef, simply put it was stunning. The best beef I have ever had? More than likely.

Fantastic food and (I think) bargain prices, thank you all for your hard work and I look forward to seeing you next year.

Edit: just had the 3 bird roast for New Years Day lunch, and it is a thing of beauty and an absolute bargain at £30!

User

Lovely farm shop with everything you need and the new cafe is great. The food is absolutely delicious with a wide range of choices from the breakfast and lunch menu. Cannot fault it in anyway! A must visit for anyone wanting a tasty lunch or breakfast!

User

I had tea and cake with a friend this week and really enjoyed it. The staff were very welcoming, the slice of cake was large and delicious (easily enough for 2 to share), and the tasty tea was made with tea leaves not teabags. The service was timely but relaxed and the bathroom was everything I could have asked for. I will certainly be going again. We also checked out the merchandise in the adjacent shop - the meat looked lean, and the pies looked home made, so I will definitely be trying them 😊. My only little niggle was that the prices were a little more than I had expected from a farm shop - but this is definitely an upmarket farm shop! The optional carbon-free eating charge was clearly explained in a sign on each table. Car parking is on the road, which is a slight hill, so not ideal for someone with walking difficulties at busy times. However, we arrived at 3.30, half an hour before closing, and a lovely lady let me leave the car in the 'drop of zone' right outside the door. Definitely a place I will use again.

User

Hot pork sandwich for lunch ... delicious - great work guys ... delighted this place is on my doorstep. Friendly and speedy service.

User

Gorgeous food both in the shop and in the cafe. A must try and then you’ll go back time and time again

User

Came for the opening of the cafe, great food really friendly service. Will be back soon to try the breakfast!

User

Awesome World Cup meat package purchased yesterday, the burgers were delicious :D

User

Absolutely lovely potted meat sandwiches and the woman who served me was nice

User

Best free range Turkey I've had in years. Stand pie a bit of a let down though. Pastry was a little too thick and not enough jelly.

User

The new cafe is very nice. Hopefully the staff develop some teamwork and the wait to be served will decrease. An iPad is not needed for a waitress to take an order for two coffees. I disagree with the automatic charge for Carbon free dining, when it was queried the waitress asked if we wanted it removed. It is a customer's choice if they want to contribute. It was not overly busy at the time with five staff members available.

User

No big family pies, asked for half of tray pie, but he cut into pieces for me, not what I wanted, for a meat and potato pie very expensive, will stick to bolster moor or brosters as you can't beat them, steak or steak and ale to die for, best farm shops in our area and Well worth the drive. Disappointed with our local farm shop

User

Worse customer service I have ever experienced. We went for lunch today and although the cafe was quiet we waited ages for someone to come and take our order. When we finally summoned a member of staff, we were told the kitchen wasn’t taking any food orders due to a large group (they say large, there was only approx 9 people so not huge) and we had to wait 5 mins. We were baffled why we couldn’t just place our order and we could’ve just been advised there may be a wait for our food due to the group. But to not be able to order food at all for 5 mins, what?!

10 mins passed with our 3 year old turning increasingly grumpy and still no one came to take our order. Then they proceeded to take the order of another table so we asked why we were still not being addressed. The female waiter was quite abrupt when she explained the kitchen couldn’t take any more orders as it was only small so I questioned how they would cope when the cafe was full (there must’ve been only 4 tables of customers and around 10 tables empty). Then I saw the waitress give me the foulest look from across the cafe which I found infuriating. We told them we’ll pay for our drink and forget about the food so she then rudely began to argue with us from afar. She couldn’t even be bothered to walk over to our table to settle our disagreement so everyone in the cafe had to listen to our argument. She was extremely rude, very unprofessional and very defensive. I strongly suggest a change of career as she clearly can’t handle a complaint professionally. All the while another 5 members of staff (I’m assuming one must of been in a more senior position) just watched on whilst she embarrassed herself in such an unprofessional manner. I was disgusted by the way we were spoken to and by the terrible slow service, so needless to say we will not be back. Such a shame as we had high hopes for a nice local farm shop.

User

I would not use this place again after the service I received I called in Sunday with my partner & the service i received was disgusting first off all I went to the meat counter purchased a joint of lamb and he made me put it on the counter till I had finished my shopping which wasn’t a problem but then as I walked round the shop I found myself & my partner getting looked at suspiciously I would then pick items up and put them in my basket and then the member of staff would be following me around the store then as he became busy he pulled his colleague and said something to her then she was at the other side of the shop looking at us I would not dream of stealing anything in my life I work very hard for what I have in life and don’t Steal as that must of been what they thought my intentions was but if that was the case I wouldn’t have spent nearly £70 even after all the issue that was caused to me in the shop I will be writing my compliant in writing and sending it directly to the manager of this store was very rude & made to very extremely uncomfortable I have posted my story in a few local groups and will continue to post it in more groups until I am given a formal apology
