What can I say, overwhelming. The displays were amazing, and the amount of artifacts all on 4 floors will fill up your entire day and it's free. There are picnic seating areas if you wish to bring your own food, 2 cafes, if you wish to take a break there is archery, displays, and live acts outside throughout the day. A must for all ages.

User

Went to watch the jousting tournament for the first time and cannot recommend enough. Suitable for all ages and kept us entertained for the full day with a visit to the museum in the interval. Got to meet the knights and horses after the tournament. Brilliant value (museum is free, joust has a small charge). You are welcome to take your own food and drink which really helps keep the cost down.

User

Was an honour to compete at the Royal Armouries Easter Tournament for Australia. Was looked after very well and the tournament was everything you could ask for. A very special place indeed!

User

Took our grandson for a day out, what a truly exceptional experience. The museum is well presented with easy access to all displays. My grandson enjoyed the firing range where you get to fire arrows from a crossbow at targets.

8 arrows for ┬Ż3 worth every penny.

Would recommend for all ages

User

Took my Grandaughter Eve to watch the Easter Jousting Tournament on Good Friday and we loved it. The Jesters kept us thoroughly entertained while the knights were getting ready and the jousting was superb. It was a nice touch being able to meet the knights after the event, they were very friendly and it was a pleasure to meet them. The staff in the museum were really friendly and helpful and we enjoyed eating our lunch at the waterside in the sunshine. A fantastic day, we will be visiting the Royal Armouries again soon.

User

The exhibits were great and being lifelike especially the mounted ones were so realistic, for people less able to get around and needing to sit and pause there are fold down seats situated on every level. The staff were informative and helpful, if there is a criticism is that the cafe area has little choice but there is an eating area on the top floor where you can eat your own food ,the staff in the cafe were great providing hot water for my baby grandsons bottle.Overall a brilliant day out

User

Really fascinating look at the history of weapons and warfare. Some amazing pieces that were hard to believe that someone actually made.

4 floors of eye opening artifacts made it well worth the trip from Manchester.

The jousting tournament and long sword battle display added to the day.

Would definitely recommend it as a day out, we were there 6 hrs.

There were plenty of options on food but we went to a restaurant opposite the Armoury as we wanted something else.

User

It's a shame we only thought to go in close to closing time, could have spent all day in there! Very interesting and well kept displays of both sporting and military history. Fantastic building, a feat of engineering, and wonderful artifacts throughout. The staff were pleasant and there seem to be regular storytelling events and the like there too. There was a cafe and an extensive gift shop as well although we didn't go in.

User

I'm a Leeds resident, as such I have visited the museum many times in the past and no doubt will do in the future. How can anyone not enjoy or be interested in such a collection of artifacts, exhibits on show. There's even live tallks and weapons demonstrations performed by reenactors in period dress on a regular basis. What's more it's FREE. If I had one critique, well more a request I would like to see more WW1 & WW2 exhibits. Nevertheless a real must see.

User

Had a great time at Little Hiccups summer party. Emily loved stroking the reptiles and rabbits. It's just a shame that the Armouries does not have adequate changing places e.g. hoist and changing bed

Come on Royal Armouries you need to catch up with other local museums that have managed to make appropriate reasonable adjustments.

Don't be the odd one out. Make your museum accessible for all disabled children/adults. Check the website out for advice/guidance.

User

Great place. Four floors that show all sorts of different weapons. I learnt loads of things in just a morning. Totally free to do ideal way to entertain the kids

User

Great day out for the family . We watched live sword fighting , shot a cross bow and topped off the day watching the jousting training . Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day !

User

Absolutely fantastic museum to take your kids to. I took my youngest lad, who is 7 for the very first time and he was absolutely mesmerised by everything inside the museum. It's definitely worth a visit as you have got 5 floors to look at, so it isn't exactly a small museum!!!

User

Absolutely amazing place with a great amount of things to see and do, all with no entry fee! What more could you ask for.

User

A very large space which absorbed several groups of children with no problem and still room to explore unhurried.

An interesting area having been developed quite well.

A good free day out for all ages and interests

User

Very good historical exhibition, could do with a section on ww1 & ww2 with modern weapons also, cafe and facilities were also very good and surprisingly for a museum, well priced, all in all a very good experience and day out.

User

Really enjoyed the exhibition. Lifelike displays and battlefields explained. The suits of armor both for man and horse were excellent. Weaponry through the ages was also very good, all in all a great day out.

User

I've been before and as always a great day out. There was a talk about the Terracotta Army but didn't stay and listen. 2 small benches one fold up chair, 6 people including 1 in wheelchair so left as no seating. If talks are held more seating must be provided we cant all stand for periods of time. As with other comments about cafes I agree. Not much choice and cold pasties!! Who came up with that idea

User

Friendly place . Kids loved it . Only criticism I have is u need more food option (warm) etc bang on the cold side tho
