Day 20 of #MeetYourPhotographer2019 and today is 'Stories - A Day in the Life' so I've done a typical day with a newborn shoot. Still going with the #MeetYourPhotographer2019 challenge and today's is What I'm Working On. Honestly? This weekend? Absolutely nothing! Because I am at my awesome friend's wedding so I'm going to be a bit quiet for a few days on social media. I adore my 'work', it never feels like work because I love it so much but I am guilty of being a workaholic - I spend a LOT of time on my computer marketing, editing, doing paperwork so sometimes it's good to get away from the computer and unplug a little. Day 18 of #MeetYourPhotographer2019 is 'throwback' and as cringeworthy as it is - here are my throwbacks! The first images were taken in 2013 when I first tried to move into newborn photography and quickly realised that it was not as easy as it had first seemed! I had already been photographing families and older children to practise but I wanted to specialise in newborns. I asked for a willing 'model' for some simple and safe poses, I hope you'll agree that some improvement is evident over the years through training, dedication and hard work

Day 17 of #MeetYourPhotographer2019 is ‚Äėfavourite product‚Äô and this was a new one for 2018 but definitely a firm favourite! The calendar sessions were amazing and they will be going ahead again this year in October, date to be confirmed. Day 14 of #MeetYourPhotographer2019 is ‚Äėmotivation / goals‚Äô and my motivation to start this business, to get up every morning and be the best I can be is my son, everything has been for him and I love my little business. My goals are simple too - to keep providing lovely families with wonderful memories captured forever for as long as I can and to keep photographing my son and my family as I go along too. For in the end, that‚Äôs all that really matters - family and the time you spend with them, capture it all!

Day 13 of #MeetYourPhotographer2019 already and I'm still managing to post daily on the topics set and today's topic is 'dream session to do'. I adore the newborn sessions and I love the family and child sessions but in recent years I have been on training and been practising other kinds of photography too - namely fine art and composite photography. I love creating magical works of art from different elements and using all the amazing tools Photoshop has to offer to create t...hem and I also love Fine Art style photography. My dream session to do is already in the planning and the props have been purchased to match my 'vision' and the boy has been bribed with V-bucks (hands up if that's all you hear about these days!!) to be my model. I have been on training courses in both Fine Art style posing and lighting and composite photography courses to create a series of images of my son called 'Catch a Falling Star' which has been planned to the last detail. I have 1 last prop to source then my vision can be brought to life, I hope I can do it justice because this is my dream session to do and I am excited to bring to life these images of my son for me to treasure forever. Day 12 of #MeetYourPhotographer2019 is 'Hands at Work' so I thought I would show you some of what I do during a newborn photography shoot. Some poses are safe for baby to lay in without support as they are laid on the posing beanbag or on their back in a shallow bowl but some poses where baby is upright or the head is not supported have to involve extra support and a bit of Photoshop magic. This pose is called the 'froggy pose' and it involves taking 2 or more photographs of ...baby in the same pose but fully supported in 2 or more different ways then the images are merged together in Photoshop. I always photograph the froggy pose using my own hands for support as it's a lot to ask of parents to confidently handle this pose and not all babies are comfortable in this position so it's not a pose that I try at all newborn sessions but this is the safest way to recreate it. Here are the 2 images I took and the final merged and edited image that was delivered to parents as part of their gallery, what a beautiful image to remember baby Myla's newborn stage <3

Today is International Pet Day, did you know that pets are welcome at Secret Smile HQ as part of a family session, as a top-up to your newborn session or for their standalone mini session or doggy cake smash?! Day 11 of #MeetYourPhotographer2019 is ‚Äėa fact about me‚Äô. I couldn‚Äôt really think of one that I haven‚Äôt already put on my website or in my Instagram bio but then I remembered that I had a life before I became a Mom and those 30 years had some cool stuff happen in them too ;) One of those being that I went to University (the first person in my family to do so) and I earned my 2:1 BSc Psychology and Criminology when I was 21. I was a forces child and after I graduated I moved to Leeds and never left so I guess that makes Leeds home!

Would like to thank Lisa for making my son’s newborn photography shoot a pleasurable and memorable experience. Having a stranger handle your newborn baby is a nerving thought but Lisa clearly is experienced and knowledgable at handling newborns and I was quickly reassured and relaxed throughout! Went to Secret Smile Photography when our daughter was 1 week old and we had the best time at the shoot. Lisa is not only creative and takes amazing pics, but she was so gentle and patient with our little lady and paid so much care and attention to her (and every detail of the pic). When we went to see our pics we were overwhelmed! The pictures are genuinely beautiful and we will treasure them forever. If anyone is thinking about getting pics done with Secret Smile... stop thinking and just book it as it's well worth it!

We went to Secret Smile for a photo-shoot of our newborn daughter and I have to say it was an absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment I contacted Lisa she had a warm, friendly nature and as soon as we arrived this continued. She made us feel really relaxed, not rushed and you could see she was genuinely passionate about what she does.



She held my newborn as if she was her own, photographing her and making sure that the props used were to our liking.. I also loved the fact that she photographed me and the hubby with our little one - even though the hubby was supposedly camera shy!



When we saw the pictures we were truly amazed - to the point we couldn't choose!!

Lisa photographed our little boy Teddy today and was absolutely amazing with him, she was so patient and made us feel really comfortable. She cuddled him and looked after him as if he were her own and was very gentle with him. Lisa is truly gifted and a genuinely amazing photographer. During our newborn shoot my husband and I had such a relaxing time; watching her interact with and care for our little girl. We had full confidence in Lisa’s ability to position, hold, wind and nurture her throughout. Nothing was too much hassle or a problem for her which meant we could simply enjoy every minute of the shoot.

We have three children aged 2,3 and 5 so getting them in one photo can be a challenge but she managed to get loads really easily. We are so in love with the photos she took and choosing was such a difficult decision.

I cannot recommend Lisa highly enough! We thoroughly enjoyed our son's cake chaos photo session and Lisa made us feel so welcome.
