The Burnley road may be closed , the valley is in a mess , but the work goes on to restore this valley against floods. We are all tired and fed up but we keep going on. However we have a train station so I ask all our friends and customers to support the businesses in Mytholmroyd. Use the train. Enjoy the pubs , tea rooms and cafes in Mytholmroyd. Just jump on a train , drink , eat , shop etc in Mytholmroyd. Jet skies available soon along the canal for a quicker trip.

We've just been for our tea at The Shoulder of Mutton...we all thoroughly enjoyed it...I had scampi, big plateful, hot and served by friendly staff They made my fussy toddler a child's portion of sausage and chips....and she ate most of it! Thank you Lisa and Owen...will be back again soon.

We visited 'The Shoulder of Mutton' while staying on the local caravan site just up the road. The landlord Owen was very welcoming and friendly. The pub was lovely and cosy and allowed us to bring our 2 cocker spaniels in and who were made just as welcome.

We enjoyed our meal and the lovely atmosphere of the pub. Would definitely recommend popping in for a real ale!

We returned the next evening and it was lovely to greeted by our names which Owen had remembered. Another delicious meal and great hospitality.

We had a really good night celebrating St Pats day.

A warm welcome on a freezing day. A great band to sing along and dance too. Very pleasant atmosphere.

The food is brilliant here, Owen and Lisa make you feel very welcome. We were there last night and my nephew is a coeliac and there was nothing on the menu for him, asked the waitress and she asked and said Lisa could do Grilled Haddock, butter sauce, boiled new potatoes and vegetables, my nephew thoroughly enjoyed it. Another good thing is they will do smaller portions of the mains which a lot of pubs won't do. We just delight in going there.

Superb food and friendly service well worth the visit from Cyprus (4, 491 Km) and will definitely make the journey again, just to revisit this Gem. Many thanks.

Probably the best steak I have ever tasted, could do with adding a 20oz to the menu as the 2 8ounce steaks didn't quite touch the sides 😀 Highly recommended A+++

Popped in after being at Hardcastle Cragg and so glad we did, a lovely warm welcome given to me & my husband as well as our 2 dogs. The food was lovely and well presented and HOT! We will be popping in again. Thank you so much

One of the best welcomes and best value meals I've had from a pub for ages! Only had the steak ciabatta hut, the steak was succulent and it was an absolutely fantastic meal. The beers are fantastic as well

Just been to eat on opening night and loved it. Yes, it is a little more expensive than it was pre-flood, but the menu is more extensive and the portions are HUGE! The waitresses were fantastic, very professional, and Owen the landlord was as welcoming as ever. Well done to everyone in the kitchen too-the food was delicious. Nice to see it busy again. WELCOME BACK!!

I called the shoulder at half 3 to see if they could accommodate 17 people last min! Owen and Lisa and all the staff really couldn't have been more welcoming. Spot on food, spot on service! Thanks for a lovely meal and your hospitality! We really enjoyed ourselves.

Had a really great meal with my good pal Jill Jackson - the pub has lots of little snug areas where you can eat and talk intimately- small well behaved dog friendly too which to me is a bonus . Lovely log fire at front of house - charming barman - great food ! I had a perfectly cooked steak with all the trimmings - Jill Jackson went for the roast which came with separately served selection of vegetables - we shared a sticky toffee pudding - lashings of custard - with two drinks the bill was £30 - great value and such a fab pub . A real community asset too x

Great Food!! The Roast was A star, and so was the Scampi & Chips, will defiantly be going back!!

Always great food and service with a smile when we go to The Shoulder but I just want to praise today's staff, the lady behind the bar and the young waitress in their excellent customer service with me and my two 4 year olds today. They were so lovely with my kids, engaging with their questions and laughing with them. Thank you �

11 of us booked a table sunday for my brothers birthday all I can say is wow and we will be back the landlord and staff were fabulous the food was delicious and what a warm welcome from looking after our surprise cake to supplying candles and plates nothing was too much trouble a little gem hidden in mytholmroyd that everyone should take full advantage of huge thanks from us all we will be back
