This is a great place to eat and drink. The pub had great character and very friendly staff. the range of great beer is extensive and the food is tasty. The chicken pie and sweet potato chilli were particularly good. You should book to make sure you are not disappointed.

User

The food is amazing. Friendly staff.

User

Phoned to book a table on Sunday night, couldn’t get in until 8pm as was full but that was fine with us. Ordered chicken & leek pie and the Boston Beef, both delicious meals with lovely homemade chips. Pudding was fab too. Staff were very welcoming and efficient. Will return.

User

Nice pub/restaurant made welcome, great staff and the food was amazing. Would highly recommended.

My husband and I had a lovely meal for our anniversary on 22nd May '17. I would recommend the food, which was homemade, fresh and served by friendly staff. It was a very enjoyable relaxed ambience.

User

Just popped in tonight on the off chance of a table as we hadn't booked, Amanda was very accommodating and soon found us one even though they were very busy, the food was lovely and staff very friendly, we will defiantly be back. Thank you.

User

Just popped in at 3 pm on a Sunday without a booking, the staff were very accommodating and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We both had the roast special and every bit of it was beautiful (clean plates), keep up the good work as I want to call back to taste some of those many gins you have on your gin list.

User

Had our first visit today for lunch - ( fish & chips & cheese bacon burger and chips )

Lovely homemade chips & friendly staff :)

User

Great beers, lovely wine and after an amazing roast on Sunday (huge pieces of melt in the mouth beef, homemade mash, proper Yorkshires and gravy), we returned for gorgeous Mexican lamb and chicken pie tonight. Well worth a visit

User

Found this little gem when staying in lorton for a week, the local dog friendly pub hadnt impressed us and another had since decided dogs were only allowed outside, booked a table at this one after finding online and was very impressed, lovely pub, quite spacious inside, food was incredble, excellent choice and portion size! Very accomadating and lovely friendly staff! Went twice in 1 week! Great prices too! Oh and a huge gin selection! Definitely a must visit!

User

Excellent....would definitely return again. If I was back in the area......

User

Been tonight, its nice to be able to sit in a vibrant busy pub and have a decent conversation without being drowned out by music. I had spicy parsnip soup for starter and steak and ale pie with mash for main, I'm ashamed to admit that I couldn't manage pudding. The food was excellent, tasty, hot, filling and plenty of it, it really is top quality pub food. There is a great selection of beers and a lot of different Gins should you be tempted. All in all a lovely way to spend a couple of hours with friends, very comfortable and pleasant surroundings and very nice helpful staff. We will be back.

User

Back to its best.

After being disappointed with last visit tried again and glad we did. Food as always very nice and service 100% better this time.

User

Ate here twice whilst on a little break away in Cockermouth. Lovely pub with a good choice of ales, beers and gins. The food was lovely on both occasions and were good portion sizes. Will definitely be visiting again if we're ever in the area!

User

2017 New Years day, evening. We booked late in the afternoon on our return from a great walk.

The food selection was excellent. All very nice and filling, especially washed down with a good selection of beer. The staff were also very polite and I would certainly recommend a visit.

User

Nice food and staff but disappointed there was no 'light lunch'' option for a quick lunch in the middle of the day.
