The Bradford Golf Club Description
Welcome to The Bradford Golf Club - we extend a warm welcome to all our members and visitors alike. Set in peaceful and tranquil countryside near the hamlet of Hawksworth, we are only 10 miles from Leeds and 8 miles from Bradford.
Our par-71 Championship Course was designed in 1923 by W Herbert Fowler, one of the world's great golf architects who was renowned for his work on many of Britain's finest courses, the most notable being Walton Heath. He also altered or renovated several other famous courses, including Royal Lytham & St Annes and the iconic 18th hole at Pebble Beach.
Fowler created some of the finest examples of heathland golf, which so closely resemble the traditional seaside links courses. While over the years our current course has become more parkland, we have started an 8 year plan, showcasing our Fowler heritage, by removing trees and adding back original bunkers, if you have visited us before - come and see how dramatic the transformation is.
We are more than just a great golf course! Our spacious & extensively refurbished clubhouse provides a venue that is second to none with beautiful picturesque views across Rombalds Moor & the Aire Valley

Golf Course Director Summer Update August 2018
Course Works August 2018
Just a quick update with regards to the renovation work the Green’s Team will be undertaking this month.
... We had previously organised this to commence on the afternoon of Tuesday 14th next week. Our intention was to use our existing machinery to undertake a hollow tine and light scarification. However, the machine to undertake our preferred renovation of a deeper scarification has been made available to us and consequently we are rescheduling the works to commence on the afternoon of Tuesday 28th August running potentially through to the Thursday. This, in fact, causes less disruption than had it been commenced next week. The machine to be used removes substantially more thatch and inserts kiln dried sand in the rows left by the initial part of the process. The greens will then be thoroughly brushed and over seeded.
We have linked a video to this notice so that you can see the machine in action.
In view of the nature of the work being undertaken there will be no Midweek Mixed Stableford Competition on the 29th August and the September Medal will be brought forward to the 25th August and an Individual Stableford will be played on the 1st September.
Given the forecasted weather and the nature of the renovation it is anticipated that the recovery process will be shorter than originally expected. Personally I am quite excited, as the results and feedback from other clubs who have used this process already has been very good.
I am sure you will give the Green Staff your assistance in allowing them to complete their work even if it means missing the hole out on which they may be working.

Competition Result - August Medal
Back in the winning enclosure for Jeremy Tetley who won division 1 with a fine 66 beating Richard Ham by 2 shots.
It was another 66 as John Thompson won division 2 beating Adam Perring in a card play off.
... Ian Leake won division 3 beating Stephen Thompson by 1 shot.

Quite possibly the best golf club in the area. All staff are friendly and welcoming. Banter is included if you're a southerner.
The course has never been a reason to complain on any of the many occasions I've played it.
I urge any keen golfer to play this course - you will NOT be unimpressed by it.
Played in the Seniors open, well organised, excellent course and friendly staff. Looking forward to playing again next week with the Wike Ridge Golf Society. Certainly one of the best courses in the area.

Lovely surroundings and great for social events.
Last Thursday saw the launch of our Bradford group at one of Yorkshire’s finest golf courses, The Bradford Golf Club.
It was wonderful to have Flexi’s and Ambassadors come across from Leeds, Harrogate and Darlington to celebrate the launch and experience such an AMAZING golf club.
The entire team at Bradford Golf Club deserve a HUGE pat on the back. The course presentation was superb and the staff in the club house couldn’t do any more “FORE” us.
We had 14 members and VIPs in the room and yet again it was the quality in the room not the quantity that helped deliver another superb meeting experience. So many introductions promised and being specific in our 60 seconds was the winning formula...! ��

The scores were pretty close at the top half of the leaderboard 3rd place Henry Wilson from Cargo Select scoring (new member) 37 off 10, 2nd place Nigel Bowers from The Property Finance Company scoring 39 off 16 and how an earth could we forget Mr Legends score Michael Stewart our Ambassdor from our Leeds group, who runs 52Art LTD, Growth Through Marketing, coming in with a whopping 42 points off 4. I know my Southern Team were delighted to hear that Michael is away “FORE” the North v South match...!
