It’s not all rugby on tour! Our squad spent a day at Goedgedacht Trust, which works to improve the lives and future prospects of rural children living in poverty in South Africa. The rugby players learned about the Trust’s work, especially the flagship programme Path Out of Poverty, and tackled some dance routines and new challenges! https://www.goedgedacht.org/

Two weeks into the summer holiday you might be looking for some exciting summer reading to keep your children occupied! We think there are some great ideas in this display of favourite books from the last ten years in Junior School. #HappyBirthdayGSAL #gsaljnr

Connecting hospitals with a high speed hyperloop and making cars with spherical wheels (much easier to park by the way!) were two of the big ideas on show at the Big Bang Fair Yorkshire and Humber. Presented by GSAL Y12 students, these innovative projects won prizes for ‚Äėextraordinary idea‚Äô and ‚Äėcreativity‚Äô respectively.
Congratulations to Matthew Giles, Laura Memmott, Gurprit Assi and Luke Waddington for their hospital hyperloop, and James Edmundson, Saurav Prakeerth, Tayyab Haq, Frank Price and Arun Tekchandani for their manoeuvrable motor. http://www.gsal.org.uk/big-bang-fair-priz es-for-student-st…/ #gsalyear12

Last week 12 L6 students presented the results of a month long research project they have been working on at Arla Foods UK Head Office. The ‚ÄėSay Cheese‚Äô project involved a presentation from Arla‚Äôs category controller into the key challenges facing the sales of cheese at Asda (Arla‚Äôs largest dairy customer). Students were then asked to formulate realistic marketing strategies which could help Asda achieve their ambitious vision for their cheese category. This includes stemmin...g the switch customers have been making towards discount retailers such as Aldi and Lidl. Some notable suggestions included collectable recipe cards, free cheesy snacks for children, increasing the range of speciality Indian cheese as well as pick‚Äôn‚Äômix cheese board services in store. The students were commended for their in-depth research into competitor offerings, social and demographic changes as well as the looming threat that Brexit poses. The winning team Briexit comprised of Michael Oldfield, Natalie Green and Avneet Bhabra.
