The Hipperholme Private Day Nursery

About The Hipperholme Private Day Nursery

We are an independent, family run, Scandinavian inspired Nursery and Pre-School, located on Denholme Gate Road, near the centre of Hipperholme, near Halifax. We operate as a Forest School. We also provide Before and After School Clubs and Holiday Clubs.

The Hipperholme Private Day Nursery Description

Our normal opening hours are from 7: 30 to 18: 00 Monday to Friday, fifty-two weeks of the year (except Bank Holidays).

The Nursery is covered by a series of webcams, to which parents are also given access. We believe that providing parents with the ability to watch their child at play in Nursery, whilst sat at their office computer or at home, is the ultimate quality assurance system.

We are not part of any chain of nurseries or larger company. The Nursery is located near the centre of Hipperholme on Denholme Gate Road, Hipperholme, Halifax. The building was specifically designed and built for its purpose. The Nursery has an extensive, private, exciting and totally secure, out-door play area located to the rear of the property. This cannot be observed by anyone walking or driving past the Nursery. Also, to the rear of the building is a large secure covered balcony area which provides a large additional space for children to play all year round. All the rooms on the ground floor (Baby and Toddler Unit and the Over Twos Unit) open directly on to this area.

Great emphasis has been given to safety and security. Access to the building can only be achieved via an intercom system. Parents gain access to the building and the downstairs Units is via a series of biometric finger print recognition system.

Parents thinking of using our services are welcome to visit and look around the Nursery whenever they wish and without prior appointment. We always recommend parents to visit a number of Nurseries before finally deciding which one is right for themselves and their child.

Our Under 2s enjoyed creating their own giant Easter bunny rabbit today!

The blossom and flowers in the nursery garden are blooming! The children have learned about watering plants, and to only dig where nothing is growing. They are all enjoying looking for wildlife which will be attracted by the flowers.

Today our Pre-School children talked and learned about nests after finding a bird's egg in our out door learning area. They decided to make a nest for our two owls. The children all looked round the garden for materials to use in the nests. Then they added the owls for them to test their new cozy homes.

Freddie will be at work every day next week, after spending a few days getting to know his new home (and becoming much more cheeky). Children will be able to check on the notice board in the Nursery entrance every morning from now on to see if Freddie is going to be at work that day.

Our Under Twos have been role playing their own café. Now they even make their own food for it. Today we witnessed some fantastic pizza making by some super chefs. They loved adding their own ingredients and independently created their own culinary pizza master pieces.
Only the best chefs taste the food as they cook!

The Under 2's made their own obstacle course! They worked as a team to put all the materials together. After making the obstacle course they moved in a variety of ways to complete it!

The Under 2's used magnifying glasses and bug catchers to find some bugs in the garden. Then they observed what they had found, and quickly discovered they had found worms and spiders. The Under 2's then decided to collect natural resources as a team and make a bug hotel!

The Under 2's cafe is open for business!

Here is one of our big sisters spending time with her baby sister in the garden. They had lots of fun singing and looking at books ☺️ It's so lovely to see all age groups playing together and learning from each other!

User

The under 2's were developing their language by looking through books and discussing what they could see on each page. Reading books is an excellent way to develop children's language.

Today we acquired a completely new member of staff, Alfred. Carrying on from a project we undertook with Calderdale Early Years Service to promote the health and wellbeing of both our staff and children, which resulted in Gretl the empathy doll, becoming a permanent resident at Nursery. We have today acquired the services of Alfred, who will be permanently employed at Nursery as our empathy dog. Alfred will spend most of his time during the day at Nursery keeping our staff and children company (Gretl has got her own empathy dog). So far Alfred has been a real hit with both children and staff. He may only be ten weeks old but we are really sure that he is up to the job! We will be acquiring more, and different, animals as we develop as a forest school.

The Over 2s enjoyed the sunny weather by having a picnic in the garden whilst some of the Preschool children went out to the woods and spotted even more signs of spring arriving. They are getting very good at naming the spring flowers!

Today our pre-school children tried some child led baking. The ingredients to make a banana bun were left on our child sized worktops with a picture showing how many spoons were needed of each ingredient. The children learned through trial and error how to make the perfect bun. When it was time to put the buns in the oven they asked a grown up for help and watched safely as their bun cooked.

Our Under Twos song this week is "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". They have really enjoyed making their own star pictures using different resources and making star fish in the sand!

User

On Friday, using our overhead projector, some of our Pre-School children enjoyed completing a new yoga story based on the Hungry Caterpillar. The children all followed the actions and then enjoyed a good relaxing cool-down at the end of the session.

It's carrot day! The under 2's have been busy making carrot cake this morning, exploring the textures of the ingredients and tasting the grated carrots. We have also been painting using carrots. The Pre-school children also made some yummy carrot cupcakes.

The squirrels and owls had fun in the woods today, climbing tress and jumping in muddle puddles!

Today Preschool have been interested in treasure and maps. We made our own maps using tea bags to make them look old. Afterwards some children made treasure for our very own treasure hunt in the garden. They did a good job using the scissors to cut out different shapes. When it was time to go in to the garden, Taqdees hid the treasure around the garden, then the children used their maps to find the treasure.

My little boy has just finished his last day with nursery after going for over 3 years, he started off being very shy but has left such confident child ready for school, cannot recommend the nursery enough they get out and about on trips and spend a lot of time outdoors which our son loves! He always had stories to tell of his day and got very excited each morning pulling into the car park seeing his friends in the window. We are really sad that this the end of his time with you but really want to thank the staff and Bob and mona for creating such a great atmosphere and teaching our son new and exciting things. We will hopefully see you when we need childcare for our daughter as I couldn't imagine going elsewhere

My girls are so happy and cared for at this nursery. My daughter leaves today after 4 happy years and I have another daughter there for 2 more years. The staff are kind and they understand the needs of each child. The nursery is dynamic and constantly striving to improve. They take the children out of nursery for lots of adventures and keep them entertained all day. All of the staff know all of the children in each room which creates a friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend HPDN
