By the end of this short, two-day investment, delegates will have gained the following: 1. Have a good grounding in TA theory. 2. Be able to apply this theory to everyday problems encountered in the business and home setting – and move towards solving them in a fresh new way. 3. Be able to find language to describe how things go right and wrong in important relationships. 4. Get to know themselves better – “what makes me tick-and-what is important to me truly?”... 5. To understand the essential idea of Autonomy and its three vital components. 6. How to work contractually with colleagues and when should I be responsive. 7. How to spot a “rescue” and avoid them and their difficult consequences. 8. To discover why Eric Berne was so radical in his thinking – and really rocked the establishment. 9. To understand what an Ego State is and to use this new knowledge to spot communication openings and opportunities. 10. To understand better any conversations that go on between parts of me in my head. 11. To learn about psychological HUNGERS and how this will help me to understand addictions and anxiety. 12. To discover how to recognise self and other through the theory of STROKES and how this can change the working atmosphere overnight. 13. To learn – What is a psychological Game? – and why is it vital to know this as a parent, partner or in the work context. 14. To explore my own life script and discover the magic of the unconscious and how this influences me and others every day. 15. To discover that a RACKET isn’t just a noise but a way that I keep myself stuck.

Course Content
As therapists and supervisors we are aware of the importance of recognising the transference and countertransference in the therapeutic relationship. Knowing how to interpret it and work with it can be a more perplexing problem.
When we understand more about how to use it productively, the countertransference can provide us with a very rich seam of information and knowledge about the client and their process. This course is aimed at counsellors, therapists and ...supervisors who want to increase their knowledge of how to interpret and work with countertransference phenomena.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course participants will have a model for understanding the clinical relevance of countertransference phenomena and will have explored a variety of options for how to work with countertransference phenomena. The aim of the course is to develop clinical thinking and clinical skills.
About the trainer
Helen Rowland is a UKATA registered Certified Transactional Analyst, Provisional Supervising and Teaching Transactional Analyst and UKCP registered psychotherapist. She has been working in private practice for 17 years with individuals, couples and groups. It was whilst working as a social worker in the field of mental health that she first developed her interest in working with individual psychology. Twenty-five years later she remains passionate about understanding what makes us tick and how creatively we manage the vicissitudes of life.
The workshop costs £90 for the day and is at 10.00am – 5.00pm.
