About The Soap Factory - Cocktail Lounge & Kitchen
The Soap Factory has a historic connection to Leeds and the new venue and menu has taken inspiration from this. We are proud to celebrate Soapy Joe's past, both through magnificent design and an inspired menu.
The Soap Factory - Cocktail Lounge & Kitchen Description
‘The Soap Factory’ is a design-led eatery and cocktail bar located centrally on Whitehall Quay. Open from 8am until 12am daily, it’s a great place to drop in and have a coffee or lunch with colleagues, or somewhere to sip tantalising cocktails with friends on a Saturday night.
With clean lines, luxurious leather couches and wooden floors, the interior has been designed as a chic, minimalist and open environment. Stylish oversized soap bubbles can be seen against the stone coloured concrete walls. The large glass panels make way for an abundance of natural light in the daytime, whilst in the evening the glowing fire offers a warm and inviting ambience.
Sure to be a firm favourite with locals and visitors to the city alike, the heart and soul of The Soap Factory takes inspiration from legendary local entrepreneur Joseph Watson of Watson & Sons and his Whitehall Soap Works. Located at 9 Whitehall Road, just a stone’s throw from Whitehall Quay, ‘Soapy Joe's’ functioned as one of the largest soap manufacturers in England. Everything about the venue — from its interior design to its mouth-watering menu — takes inspiration from the original Soap works’ rich history.

We began with afternoon tea which was great, proceeded to cocktails in happy hour and they made us a fantastic cheese board when we had the nibbles later. Such a chilled and relaxed afternoon where nothing was too much trouble, excellent service from all staff. Will definitely be back.
Visited yesterday after winning a £100 tab .4 girls 2 courses and cocktails. Food was hot and fresh and cocktails beautifully made and even better priced at 2-4-£10 . Bar was surprisingly quiet even for a bank holiday which was surprising . Nice location with Toast and The Lazy Lounge opposite meaning you can make an afternoon of it . I've also posted some pictures on the page of our food ���
Thank you for the amazing afternoon tea/cakes, I would definitely recommend this place to anyway, who wants a chilled afternoon with family/friends. Staff and service was spot on. �
Lovely afternoon tea, lots of variety and delicious too. The service was outstanding. Only request would be to balance the savoury within the sweet!
Having booked into the hotel ...the weather was dreadful so opted to have a drink in the soap factory.... Lovely setting with good food and we sampled a couple of cocktails which were carefully made and very tasty... Great experience and we will definitely return.
Have eaten and drunk here over the last couple of days - absolutely amazing! Great food, drinks and staff - an absolute must visit!
Had many, many afternoon teas in my time but this is up there with my favourites- lovely sandwiches, scone was warm, so much choice and large portions.
Happily swapped my tea for orange juice.
Was served by a lady called Pati who gave us the best service ive ever received.
Had a really wonderful time at the Novotel Leeds!! The Soap Factory Bar was really amazing, lovely relaxed atmosphere and absolutely brilliant staff. The cocktails are really delicious and beautifully made with panache and flare. All the staff were professional, helpful and friendly throughout the hotel but Bruno from the Soap Factory Bar really did make our stay so fantastic, his personable manner and skills as a bartender were second to none, his cocktails both from the menu and bespoke requests were among the best we have ever tasted!!! Cocktails � are 2-4-1 between 5pm and 7pm !!!!

My friend and I were the only people there at lunch time on friday which was a pity as it's decor is lovely.The waiter was great at first&assured us on an evening it was lively maybe this is because the location isn't great ie not in the centre but a back street although not far from the station if you don't want to walk far??Then 2 other couples came in. But then I had to go looking for him when I wanted a glass of wine luckily I found Baz the manager who gave me a glass on the house nice touch!
The cocktails were good,starters & deserts but the main course not so good.My friend said her chicken was dry in her burger&my fish burger which I expected to be a fillet didn't taste any different from the Thai fishcake starter!
Always good to try somewhere new though!
Excellent dog and child free area. We stayed 3 nights and ate and drank in the bar. Kids meals fab with large portions and great cooked food. Good selection of food and wine and drinks. Very clean and great area for kids with soduko and other electronic table games to play
The food was delicious and the service from the lovely Russian lady (she said to people to refer to her as this as it's easier than her name �) was amazing.
However, it's yet to fulfil its potential. It doesn't know what its audience is; a mishmash of copper cutlery, fine decor then a giant widescreen tv randomly? Also, kids upon kids - I get it's a hotel restaurant but still...
The service from other waiters and waitresses was poor, slow, and forgetful.
Overall, mixed messages. Great food, great service from one person, but poor atmosphere.
