UoH Lecturer and artist Charlotte Goldthorpe is holding an exhibition at the Bookshop Gallery, Dean Clough, Halifax.
Her work entitled ‘Making Material Memories’ explores various crafting skills and storytelling, using the narrative of lost loves.

We have been working in partnership with the Traders at Queensgate Market and the Creative Economy Team on a new initiative in Huddersfield’s indoor market called Temporary Contemporary, a project that converts vacant stalls into contemporary art gallery spaces.
Last night the Kirklees Council Markets team scooped the award for ‘Innovation of the Year’ at this year’s annual National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) conference.

University of Brescia, in partnership with Univeristy of Huddersfield School of Art, Design Architecture have come together for the International Summer School for Advanced Studies UNIBS: Contemporary Identities. Interweaving spaces and relations in the design of living services. Our Students have been working on a living module developed and built by industry partner Marbegno.
A prototype of the module is on display in one of the historical squares in Brescia, as a form of temporary urbanism to host public events.
Seven of our students from Interior Design, Product Development and Masters of Archictecture have participated in 5 different international teams. Each team worked on the idea of developing and customizing the living module in respect to specific places (towns or rural settings) and a variety of clients.

Ryan Durrant is hosting an exhibition in Queensgate Market Gallery as part of Temporary Contemporary on 10-29 September.
Entitled 'BLACK BAG', An exhibit of painting, sculpture, print and video exploring the ubiquitous, ordinary, yet strangely aesthetic black rubbish bag.

Congratulations to Fashion Textile Practices MA student Caroline Hodgson for winning two prizes for her recent work. Caroline has won the 2018 annual Worshipful Company of Woolmen and the Company of the Merchants of the Staple of England Wool Innovation Prize as well as ‘Most promising Final Year or Postgraduate member of any University for study or research on any wool application’ from the Worshipful Company of Woolmen. • Caroline’s collection of thermoformable materials created using predominantly British wool, was praised by the judging panel for a very skilful combination of textile technology and interior design. • #winner #textiles #textiletechnology #wool #innovation #prizewinner #competition #britishwool #worshipfulcompanyofwoolmen
