The RSPB Bempton Cliffs reserve, on the spectacular Yorkshire coast, is home to one of the UK's top wildlife spectacles. Around half a million seabirds gather here to raise a family on towering chalk cliffs which overlook the North Sea. Between March and October gannets, guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes, herring gulls, fulmars and shags make their home here and, between April-July, puffins join the throng. Itās an unforgettable sight.
Yorkshire is a large county comprising beautiful countryside, dramatic moorland, lush dales, and over 45 miles of spectacular coastline & The Camping and Caravanning Club is a great place to set as your base when exploring. There was a special Welcome to Yorkshire honour for Sheffieldās Tony Foulds at our Y Conference in Leeds today. The 83-year-old won over the hearts of the not just the county but the nation when he campaigned for a flypast to honour the crew of a US airplane which crashed just feet away from him when he was a schoolboy during the war.
Tony believes the pilot saved the lives of him and his friends who were playing in Endcliffe Park by deliberately crashing the plane away from them. He has been tending to a memorial to the 10 US airmen for decades. Heās been recognised with a Pride of Yorkshire Award presented to him by Welcome to Yorkshireās Commercial Director Peter Dodd. #Y19

Hundreds of years ago this West Yorkshire manor was a thriving farming estate. Today East Riddlesden Hall makes a great day out for the whole family. With the deeds being handed over to the National Trust in 1934 by the Briggs brothers of Keighley, the house was saved from demolition and thankfully continues to be a hive of activity, albeit in a slightly different capacity. Come and contribute to the worn stone flooring and marvel at how generations before us dreamed of making a local house grand!
Welcome to Yorkshire. Open the gate & discover magnificent Godās Own County for yourself.

Crocuses on Harrogate Stray - one of our absolutely favourite sights in Spring š
šWhitby Abbey, North Yorkshire
Founded in 657 by St Hilda, Whitby Abbey has over the years been a bustling settlement, a kingsā burial place, the setting for a historic meeting between Celtic and Roman clerics, the home of saints including the poet Caedmon, and inspiration for Bram Stoker, author of Dracula. It is also the perfect centrepiece for a majestic photo š
Staithes unique charm, with its huddled cottages, towering cliffs and choppy sea, has long been a powerful draw for those interested in fine art, geology and getting back to nature. The āold village', located in a small, sheltered cove at the base of the cliff, is peppered with small B&Bs and local fishermen's cottages - the perfect place to spend a long weekend.
Uniquely situated in a dramatic clifftop position with spectacular views over Bridlington and set in 50 acres of early 19th Century parkland, Sewerby Hall and Gardens offers something for everyone, from the magnificent gardens to the deep rooted heritage of the house. It looks great all year round but when the flowers start to spring, it looks particularly lovely!
Newby Hall & Gardens near Ripon in North Yorkshire is in the running to be crowned the UKās top country house garden and they need your help. Give them a vote here so they can bring the award back to God's Own Country!

Well I've got to be carful I being a scot who has lived and worked in this great county since 1960. I have had three jobs in Yorkshire first I was in transport a Leeds firm. Second was milking cows at Nunmonkton and last but not least where I retired from was the famous Dalesend herd of pedigree Holstiens where I was for 37 years. Then helped out for about 8 years spreading slurry and leading corn of the combine. So in my time inYorks I've came across lots of lovely people it is a really great county and full o great folk What more can I say, And I'm still here
Very useful information - even though I was born, bred and still live here!

A great site for information for anywhere in Yorkshire, the photo' section shows the beauty of the dales and surrounding areas. I use the site to find new photography locations and where the best cafe's , B&B and pub's are. All in all a gem of a site.
I'm Proud Yorkshireman and love some of it's landmarks.
My family born and bred in Yorkshire ,Name of Kilmister ,from Haworth ,no where like Yorkshire ,now live on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border, but will always be a Yorkshire lass .
It's a pity that "Welcome To Yorkshire" are oblivious to the vast amount of litter that blights the so called "God's Own County". How about pressing local councils to get on top of the problem, and maybe running a campaign to get the arrogant locals to clean up their act. The place is disgusting.
