PCSO's Bleasby and Riley, assisted with an input with Safer Leeds Community Project at the Marjorie And Arnold Ziff Community Centre, Moortown.
The input covered scams that the residents might be targetted for. Information was given on being aware, avoiding being a victim, and how to report it if they are targetted.

Spring Summer 2019 - Anti Sneak-in Burglary Campaign
Officers from Leeds North East NPT went ‘live’ yesterday 4th of April, 2019 with their Anti Sneak- in Burglary Operation and targeted some residential streets on the Lakes estate in Wetherby. 3 houses were insecure, one open garage, and one insecure car. Crime prevention advice where given to all concerned.
Throughout Spring and Summer West Yorkshire Police is urging homeowners to protect their homes and not to be caught o...ut by opportunistic thieves. Thirty per cent of burglaries happen when opportunistic thieves walk in through an unlocked front door and 26 per cent through unlocked or open windows. This Operation highlights the tactics that burglars use and reminds people of the simple steps we can all take to improve our home security and deter burglars from targeting our homes. • Don’t let a thief catch you out! • Keep doors and windows locked at all times – even when you’re inside. • Don’t forget to lock the door behind you and remove the key from the lock. • Keep keys, cash and valuables out of sight and in a safe place. • Door chimes might deter a burglar from entering your property – but remember to always lock your door. • If you’re outside gardening or hanging out washing, make sure doors and windows are locked. • Put packaging for expensive items in the bin or take it to be recycled. Don’t advertise what’s in your house. • Make sure door and window locks are fitted to the appropriate standards. Cheap locks or deteriorating fittings all make your home an easy target for burglars. • Check that existing security, such as alarms and external lights are working and use them to protect your home. • Consider downloading free tracking software for items such as laptops and mobile phones. • Join or start a Neighbourhood Watch Group and look out for your neighbours. • If you have a garage use it to store your vehicle out of sight.

PCSO Cannon and Thompson attended Roundhay St Johns primary school, to judge the speed awareness poster competition. Children who attend the after school club were asked to design posters, with these two being the winners for each Keystage. Fantastic effort by all that took part

Over the last few days as well as officers from the team arresting and subsequently charging a male with burglary and theft from motor vehicle offences in the Oakwood and Roundhay area 🕵️‍♀️, we have also had officers deployed with speed detection devices at hotspots in Wetherby and North Leeds. 4 driver’s were issued with tickets and multiple others warned 🚓
