It is cliché to perhaps say that January is a difficult month as let’s face it, with mental health and the world around us every month can be difficult depending on our individual circumstances. However, even within our own office, there does seem to be a dip in general mood and energy levels now that the Christmas and New Year break has ended (though the dreaded Christmas virus may have something to do with this!). Therefore, we would like to share some advice from Dr Phil H...ammond who publicly encourages us all to ensure we introduce and encourage in others the following tips each day. In ensuring we all do our daily CLANGERS we can encourage positive mental health in ourselves and others.
Connect – with people face to face where possible. Learn – keeping our minds active be Active – physical exercise each day can help all aspects of health Notice – being aware of our surroundings, environment and others. Give back – acts of kindness and volunteering our time to others not only help the recipients but can help ourselves too. Eat well – the benefits of a balanced diet have been shown time and time again for our mental health Relax – can be easier said than done, but doing things that can help you to relax and switch off each day can help Sleep – good sleep hygiene can again be a challenge for many of us, but establishing a routine that works for you and allows you to get as good a sleep as you can is important for wellbeing.
So, if you are needing a boost this month, or indeed any other time and you fancy trying out Dr Hammonds Daily CLANGERS and they help, who knows, they may just last all year.

Following on from announcing that we won Partner of the Year at the recent City Development Awards, we are proud to say that we were awarded overall winners at the Leeds City Council Corporate Awards this week. This is a great achievement and whilst it was awarded for a specific project, it highlights the great and positive partner work that all at WorkPlace Leeds carry out throughout the year. A massive congratulations to the whole WorkPlace Leeds Team!

This week we were named as a Partner of The Year by Leeds City Council for the work some of our team (Kay, Ben, Julia & Sandie), in collaboration with the Leeds Mind Training Team, carried out capacity building & training with council staff & supported job-shop clients to find employment.
The nomination stated "WorkPlace Leeds which is part of Leeds Mind are a professional and considerate team and deserve to be recognised for the fundamental difference they have made to many... people's lives. Leeds Mind staff also created and delivered Mental Health training courses for different levels of understanding, techniques and skills for Council Job Shop staff and managers. As a summary of the entire contract it is clear that all of that clients found the specialists to be very supportive and found their help valuable. The range of courses to improve skills and prepare clients for a return to work were all highly praised". #mentalhealth #Employment

World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to reflect on how we interpret and interact with mental health, our own and that of others.
Mental health can be experienced by anyone at anytime and can be enduring. It’s important to have a national day acknowledging the topic to generate discussion and reduce the stigma.
At WorkPlace Leeds we believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to understand their mental health, for others to regard and respect any challenges that... may be encountered by offering support and understanding, and we believe that everyone has the capacity to reach their goals, whatever they may be.
We are proud to work with the people of Leeds in providing specialist employment related mental health support, we are also proud to work alongside other organisations and charities to ensure that everyone’s journey through mental health is as supportive and progressive as possible.
Here’s to reducing the stigma and to everyone feeling empowered to talk about mental health.
The link below details services available in Leeds if you need to reach out for or know someone who would benefit from support.
Best wishes to all on #worldmentalhealthday

Today we were at the Job Centre in Morley taking part in an information session for their employees, and letting them know about the services which Leeds Mind offer to support the people of Leeds with their mental health and in a variety of contexts.
Thank you for having us we had some great conversations about how to support clients who are experiencing adverse mental health and where to signpost them for more help 😊

Volunteering can be an incredibly rewarding way to learn new skills and expand your CV. It can also contribute significantly to the way you feel, giving a sense of purpose and connectedness with others. These things are important for the recovery of people who are or have been mentally unwell.
If you are thinking about taking steps back into employment and would like to explore what opportunities are out there before applying for a job, volunteering may be a good idea.
Conver...sely, if you are currently in employment and want to diversify, volunteering may give you the ability to sample other roles and get a feel for what you may want to do next.
