55002 Koyli

We have some bad news from the NRM.
‘They’ have decided without any consultation to the group, that D9002 ‘THE KINGS OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY’ is to become a static only exhibit, along with the rest of the diesels, with the expectation of the shunters 33116, D6700 and 41001.
... The group is extremely disappointed with this decision, and although they see Koyli as in their master plan(a key exhibit), the group see this as a massive setback after all the hard work the volunteers put into the locomotive. Along with the donations from the many of you that have contributed to the locomotive.

Nothing to report regarding work resuming on Koyli, or indeed D6700. We are still awaiting the NRM deciding what its plans are for the diesel fleet. Pictured below is the spare engine block, which is/was going to be used to repair Koyli’s defective power unit, a fractured cylinder liner (B6). Thank you to the Deltic preservation society for all the assistance they have given the NRM diesel group in trying to get Koyli back on 2 engines.

Hello. You will probably have noticed that we haven’t updated any news recently.
This is due to the NRM management at York stopping the Koyli group from volunteering. They inform us that there isn’t a safety management system in place, and no one is willing to have responsibility for the group.
We were told we would be up and running within a couple of months from January, however all is still quiet, with no prospect of the group allowed back to volunteer. Koyli engines wi...ll be quiet for the foreseeable future.
However, with this current situation the Koyli group have offered to speed up the restoration of Tulyar, the group will be at the DPS depot from September.
