Performance where you least expect it - returning Saturday 3rd June 2017!

Assemble Fest Description

Performance where you least expect it.

Assemble Fest is a one-day theatre and arts festival that takes place across Newland Avenue in Hull, a multicultural community infused with local charm and international character! Working with business owners on the avenue, specially commissioned shows are performed multiple times to create highly visual, exciting and engaging experiences in surroundings that range from hair salons to cafes.

We also present a packed programme of free activities celebrating the best home-grown culture Hull has to offer, ranging from family activities, workshops, music stages, pop-up dance performances, circus and more!

Important news from AF HQ!
Assemble Fest 2017 and Our Street Our Stage have been incredible, and we can’t thank everyone enough who was involved and participated in some way.
We're grateful for all the support we've had over the past 12 months, especially from the Newland Avenue traders and Residents Association. It’s wonderful to be part of such an amazing community.
... Over the last 4 incredible years, Assemble Fest has had 5 festivals, supported 25+ local theatre companies, seen 28 premieres of new work, staged events in 30+ spaces, held a special one-off festival on Hessle Road and employed 100+ members of the local community.
Now, we have decided to review what the future of Assemble Fest looks like and so we will be taking a year off, returning fresher and bolder in 2019.
We want to invite a new generation of artists, makers and community ambassadors to lead the festival to new heights. We will be appointing a new team in the oncoming few months for the next phase of Assemble Fest’s life. More details will be coming soon, but in the meantime if you have any questions feel free to get in touch at info@assemblefest.co.uk.

It's cold and wintry outside but if you wander down Newland Avenue you'll find something very special. Thank you to the Heritage Lottery Fund, Newland Residents Association and everyone involved in Assemble Fest 2017 and Our Street Our Stage for making this possible!

We were lucky enough to be invited to welcome the Queen to Hull this morning! Thank you Louise, Mark and Lydia for representing Newland Ave and Our Street Our Stage!

User

These look great! Get yourself down to Lydia's, we recon these won't be around for long! 😍

User

Let's hear it for the volunteers! 🙌🎉
We think the volunteers are easily one of the best things about Hull 2017 - we certainly couldn't have made AF17 and Our Street Our Stage happen without them 💙

User

It really is never dull in Hull thanks to places like The New Adelphi Club, Thieving Harry's and Humber Street Gallery.

Local art at it's finest. Everything from musicians performing in shop windows to pop-up science in a community garden. A superb reflection of Newland Ave's cosmopolitan, bohemian spirit. Most stuff free, a few events ticketed but cheap. Culture, we've got it by the bucketful.

User

An absolutely fantastic day. It really brought the community together. I look forward the the next one.
