Yes it needs a revamp but these things are costly and running a rink is costly. My daughter takes lessons and adores this place and it provides that for her at an affordable price whereas newer rinks cost a lot more and have less access. The more people who support this rink the more updating they will afford. Let's face it the next nearest is Sheffield hull or Doncaster.

User

Only visited twice so far but have to say we love it! Myself husband and our 4 children the youngest only 3 years old have been met with kindness and help both on and off the ice. The staff cant help you enough and other customers have given pointers to our daughters on how to get going its been brilliant looking forward to retunring next weekend as this is now our family weekend time ⛸⛸ xx

User

I can't believe I went for the first time in years last night and it's all still the same, definitely needs a modern touch, but apart from that my son did really well on his ice skating course the teachers and staff was so friendly, I really enjoyed watching them have fun on the ice. Me and my son are definitely coming back so I can have a play on the ice

User

Helpful staff, friendly. Friendly customers. Josh is great. Helpful, polite, knows how to skate so helped my 5 and 3 year old daughters and myself.

Show me how else to make kids smile and so excited for about 15 quid including penguins. Great place. Great fun.

User

We went as a family for the first time, yesterday. As soon as a we walked in we were all a little apprehensive at the state of the place. It’s very very old skool! We had a laugh about that but carried on. The staff were all really polite and helpful, and even the other visitors were friendly. There was a really nice atmosphere. None of us can skate, so the youngest had snowmen to help them along and the rest of us had two hours to get the swing of it by ourselves, which provided an entertaining couple of hours for all of us! Didn’t try anything from the cafe so can’t comment on that. But as other reviewers have said, the place is in much need of some updating and a rail around the rink for newbies! Otherwise, it was a fantastic day out and we definitely intend on coming again!

User

Just like it was back in the 70's, but the queues are longer. A second window open for people to pay (bloke sitting there ignoring the customers was irritating) and a second person on skate rentals would have made it an experience I would be more likely to repeat. Good fun when you finally get on after 45 minutes waiting. HOWEVER I didn't realise when I was there getting annoyed in the queue that the place is run as a charity and not for profit. Maybe some signs to that effect would be good.

User

serious updating needed looks exactly same (tired and dated) since I went there as a child! the kids weren't put off of course and we all enjoyed our time. just seems a lot of money for a place well overdue of serious updating - the skate hire needs new skates or at the very least sharpening. my partner slipped & someone skated over his fingers (luckily he's not squemish) the staff were good and quickly had em wrapped up & he was back on the ice. overall we had a good afternoon kids will be nattering to return no doubt.

User

Well only 1 staff member on queue so had to wait 40 minutes and seriously overcrowded way too many people on the rink. I got my legs swept from behind and i crashed into to 2 people because they where all grouped together and no way round, apologies. Rink staff friendly and good music. So for these reasons only 3 star.

User

We visited with my 2 young girls 3 and 6 and it was their first time.

Firstly I read about rude staff but I must say the lady at the counter was lovely, we were 15 minutes early but she let us pay and wait inside as we had little kids.

The place looks exactly the same as it did when I used to go as a child! Don't think it's been updated since, I bet they are the same toilet seats 😂

The kids loved it! I found that we went on a family session so our girls were not scared of lots of fast tall skaters, and we hired the pequins in which a member of staff told us off for leaving a penguin unattended about a foot away from us.... like nobody would see a black penguin as they skate.... at least it stays still 😂

All in all only 3 stars due to the condition of the place and the strange health and safety rules for our first time girls (it was left unattended as my child decided to try without and we were busy watching her rather than looking away to grab a penguin to ensure it was by our side)

User

I used to visit here 3 times a week as a teenager 20 years ago and since then nothing has changed with this place, not even a lick of paint. To say it's the only rink in the area it needs some serious updating, maybe apply for a lottery grant? Furthermore the hire skates really really need to be sharpened, but it's pretty apparent they never do even though they used to have a machine to do it. Pretty sure it wouldn't take that long for one of the staff to do this once a month.

User

I had been as a youngster and had fun... took my Grandson this time and a youth was stabbing the ice at us. .. I suppose that's life now Sooo expensive?

User

The place needs updating as it looks tired and dirty. Ice skates are really uncomfortable as their is hardly any cushion/padding in them (maybe just me and my feet). Hired penguins for the kids but wasn't told rules about helping my kids get round the rink by pushing them (not aloud to do it) so waste of money trying to teach them how to skate. Bit of a let down of a day.

User

Run down and desperate for modernisation. Parking is an issue at peak times, however Sunday parking is only £1 for your visit. 3 kids with skate hire is £25+, the cafe area needs a re-build and would be handy taking card payments where you don't have to queue back at the single staff member ticket office. Kids had fun but it needs serious money pumping into it, I couldn't believe they ran an Ice Hockey team from the site.

User

I went to Bradford ice areana with my son who plays ice hockey for Coventry Blaze under 11's, as they were playing Bradford Bulldogs under 11's so travel to a number of different ice rinks around the country and this one has to be one of the worst facilities I have been to. From lack of parking to arrogant staff the experience was one that will live in the memory for a number of reasons, thankfully it didn't matter to the Coventry lads who won and enjoyed their game. Not only does the poor experience have an effect on the representation of the rink itself but as all the parents had; had such a poor experience we all left Bradford very quickly and meet up in Sheffield for a meal, so a local business that could have done very well out the visitors to the city have lost out, and as ice hockey is a 15 a side sport that's a lot of parents and children looking for refreshments

User

Arrived and realised the lift wasn't working . Had out 2 month old baby with us and 4yr old . Had to carry the pram and baby up to the top floor where the ice rink was , same again when leaving . The queue was half way down the staircase as there was only 1 member of staff on the till , so took us nearly 30 min queuing . Eventually got sorted and my wife and daughter plus friends enjoyed the skating . The place could really do with been modernised but not essential as your there for the ice rink not the Decor . Think twice if taking a pram !

User

no health and saftey the ice in poor condition far to many people on the ice poor cafe queing for ages staff no help at all would not go again we will go to blackburn next time

User

Whilst leaving the ice rink a group of about 20 15-17 years old started harrassing me while one of your staff members stood there doing nothing... walking back to the car the group followed me threatening me the same staff member followed them and did nothing but stand and watch me get verbally abused by the group who also obstructed the car i was in from leaving the car park because they wanted to "cave my head in"

User

We was supposed to start skating at 12, we was the first in the que and it got too 12:10 I asked the reception when she was going to start letting us in and her reply was 'when we say'! So god dam rude! I felt like walking out there and then! We eventually got let in at about 12:15/12:20... she was then very miserable and rude while taking our money! We got into where you skate and the whole place is run down and scruffy! Needs a good clean and needs updating specially if they want to be charging the prices they do! The staff on the ice skating ring just mess about with the regulars I'm guessing and don't help anyone! Overall it was a shit 2 hours and I won't be back again🤗 The rude bitch behind counter needs to sort her attitude out!! Don't recommend to anyone waste off time and money!

User

Was having a good time with my daughters as it was their first time on the ice

That was until vending machine ate my money so I told a member of staff and she gave my money back very reluctantly and was very rude and unkind to me in front of my children and basically trying to belittle me. They are 4 & 5 and even they asked me why the lady was being mean. Tried to make a complaint and got told to email them instead.
