Bridlington Sea Cadets

Bridlington Sea Cadets is a part of the Sea Cadet Corps; a nationwide voluntary uniformed youth organisation.

Bridlington Sea Cadets is a recently formed division of Filey Sea Cadets; which is part of the Sea Cadet Corps. A nationwide voluntary uniformed organisation.

We are located in the seaside town of Bridlington which allows us to offer fantastic facilities for cadets aged 12-18 years.

Bridlington Sea Cadet Division is led by Officer in Charge A /Lt (SCC) M Jackson and her extremely enthusiastic team.

The division is 'parented' by Filey Sea Cadets which is led by PO (SCC) L Woods and his knowledgeable and skilled team boasting various disciplnes to enable the cadets to learn new skills and partake in exciting fun activities, which will provide the knowhow and memories for many years to come.

We have a rank structure modelled on that of the Royal Navy, giving Cadets an opportunity to progress and take up positions of responsibility as they acquire skills and seniority. On reaching 18, many Cadets choose to stay on as adult instructors, when their training and talents become invaluable.

The remit of the Sea Cadets is to provide fun, friendship, adventure and learning new skills based on waterborne and land based activities which we at Filey Sea Cadets - Bridlington Division find is the most valuable of all.

We have an enviable fleet of boats which we regularly take down to Filey Bay, Wykeham Lakes and Wilsthorpe as well as hold various courses in our unit onshore and offshore to allow the cadets to gain new specialisations /proficiencies including; First Aid, Marine Engineering, Seamanship, Chartwork, Cooks Stewards, Piping, CVQO BTEC, Communications Information Systems, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Rowing, Sailing and Power Boating.

We work hard to secure funding and bursaries to heavily reduce the cost of area /national courses and voyages for the cadets.
