Golfers… Do you ever warm up before you play?
The golf swing needs a strong and stable base with a flexible and mobile upper body to aid performance. Jim Mclean (1992) stated that a quicker head speed and overall distance of shot can be achieved if the difference between the degree of shoulder turn in relation to hips is greater. He called this the X-Factor.
Chris, our sports physiotherapy specialist, has collaborated with Matthew Ombler PGA (PGA Professional) to design a go...lf specific prep programme to improve quality of movement and power prior to playing golf, thus increasing your X-Factor!
This video demonstrates the ‘club pull down’ exercise which encourages upper back extension and will help with rotation of the upper back and shoulders during swing and also the ‘lats stretch’ exercise which helps loosen your muscles before you swing.
For more information on this, if injury is stopping you from playing your sport or you would like prep programmes associated to your chosen activity please book in with Chris on 01482 847705 or email us at contact@consortiumphysio.co.uk

Chris, our Sports Specialist Physiotherapist, was happy to be with Keighley Cougars Rugby League player Ryan Wright to carry out some sport specific testing as part of his sports medicine programme. The tests incorporated the physiological demands of a rugby league player with the aim of improving performance and injury prevention - The areas assessed included muscular power, agility, speed, strength and maximum aerobic capacity (Gabbett et al, 2008).
If you have a sporting injury, wish to gain advice to decrease your injury risk or would like to improve your physical performance please contact Consortium Chartered Physiotherapists where we will be more than happy to help.

Congratulations to our sports specialist physiotherapist Chris John who is out in Australia working in professional rugby with Hull FC.
Chris has been part of our set up for the last 18 months. He has expertise in managing a wide range of sports specific injuries. Fortunately Chris will continue to take appointments and see a small case load of patients at Consortium Chartered Physiotherapists alongside his role in elite rugby league.

Very relaxed and in depth sessions I had. Gave me all the necessary physio work and told me all the things I can do at home to get back n the football pitch again as quick as 10 days. Would recommend them to anyone that's unsure physio helps.

I saw Graham about an ongoing neck problem. I have had on and off acute pain for years and seen many different types of therapists, including chartered physiotherapists. Graham was a great listener and asked many questions. He then did an initial examination and was able to provide, what I truly believe, a correct diagnosis. Graham gave me some sound advise and exercise techniques to work on (nothing to make you sweat, very gentle and easy to do). I am on the journey of being pain free and relieved of the tension that has been the cause of the pain. I will continue with the exercises and look forward to doing certain activities I've avoided for years. If you are in pain or restricted to doing certain tasks because of an injury I would highly recommend Consortium Chartered Physiotherapist.

User

I have seen both Danny and Graham in the last two weeks, both of whom I can't recommend or speak highly enough of. Danny found the root cause but referred me over to Graham, both were very thorough and professional, helpful and reassuring. As I work different hours weekly they were both very adaptable to appointment schedules. I really do recommend that whatever your pains are, go and give them a visit, they are fabulous.

User

I have had the privilege of working with this wonderful team. They are a skilled bunch and I can safely say you would be is safe healing and caring hands with them.

Had my 1st ever sports massage today. I suffer with a stiff back when running but Megan seems to have worked magic. Will definitely recommend and pay another visit

User

Had a long term shoulder injury from competition and came in to see Chris and he was excellent! Chris was thorough and meticulous in his process of understanding what the underlying issues were before assessing the shoulder in depth. Chris was then able to prescribe an effective rehab program whilst reviewing it periodically, updating the program when necessary. All in all, I am extremely happy with the progress of the shoulder and would thoroughly recommend Chris and Consortium as they are very professional with their work. Thank you :)

User

Great service from Danny at Consortium, who sorted accurately diagnosed my foot injury, and had me back to running in 5 to 6 weeks. Great advice and analysis all the way. Thanks again. I would thoroughly recommend their service.

User

Graham treated a relative of mine and the service was faultless. From the 1st phone call Consortium proved to be polite and efficient, appointment made for later that week for a time that suited us. The consultation involved an in depth assessment and then a clear explanation of the diagnosis and then discussion of an exercise program that was realistic and achievable. After months of discomfort my relative was left painfree after doing the advised exercises for 1week. I cannot recommend Consortium Physiotherapy enough, strongly recommended. Thank you
