We received a few cards, gifts and wonderful messages from some of you last Friday for our final pop up at the Friargate Quaker Meeting House, York. We have loved seeing you and your kids enjoying the space we created together, it makes the hard work worth it and validates that we’re not totally nuts in trying to do this and make it work.
We’ve been asked a lot about what’s happening in 2019 to DLFC and the answer is that we’re going to crunch the numbers in January and get o...ur business plan in good enough shape to take to landlords in York in order to do something bigger and better. We’ve loved Friargate and they’ve been a great support, but we need to keep evolving and find a bigger space to make our own.
The honest truth is that this pop up lost money.
We need to work out whether our version of a play cafe is actually viable in central York - and a lot of that depends on the flexibility and appetite for change and saving the ailing high street at the council and some of it depends on you lovely lot, supporting and spreading the word once we do have a plan!
We have been blown away by the goodwill and cheerleading from our customers all year and we want to say a huge THANKYOU to everyone who’s been involved in our adventure so far.
