I am a freelance consultant clinical psychologist, applying psychological knowledge to enhance wellbeing and treat distress across a variety of situation.

For some of my working week I provide a safe and confidential space in which to attend to psychological difficulty or distress in individuals. For most people there are times in life when we may find ourselves in emotional discomfort for a variety of reasons. Sometimes our ways of living need to be explored or reconsidered with compassion.

I have 18 years experience of working psychologically as a consultant clinical psychologist and psychotherapist in NHS and private practice. I use a variety of approaches including third wave CBT(Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Schema Therapy and relational psychotherapy. I teach at the university, my special interests including personal and professional development in clinical psychologists.

My special interests have been adapting to living with serious physical health conditions and also living well whilst dying. I am interested in how our society treats mental health and the stigma and systems within which we live that worsen distress. I consider the impact of relationships; with ourselves, other people, workplaces, health services, which sometimes place the problem more firmly with the individual than necessary.
