A fantastic evening spent here in #Hull in the company of amazing NHS nurse from the local hospital Sadly not all nurses could attend as they were saving lives & doing other brilliant things .... Our chefs Piero & Raffaele prepared a variation of pizze for the nurses on duty and along with copies of our La Gazzetta, they could put their well-deserved feet up, enjoy the pizze & even glance through our seasonal newspaper Buon appetito and happy reading xxx

Went there for the very first time yesterday for an early fathers day treat from my daughter, decor and staff were nice and the food was loverly. I've never tried sea bass before and i thought it was amazing, my daughter and I left very satisfied and I'll definitely go back... soon hopefully

We visited yesterday for my mums birthday, couldn’t fault anything. I booked online for the 15 of us, easy process and was called in the morning to confirm booking. Staff were friendly and very attentive but not invasive. The majority of us had 3 courses and the food arrived quickly considering there was 15 of. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the cocktails were lovely...would definitely recommend and will be returning!

User

Visited the restaurant on the evening of Saturday 16th June had a reservation for 2.

Very friendly welcome once into the restaurant and the hospitality carried on from here on. Great friendly staff very professional and the food was absolutely gorgeous. A very nice change food wise for us.

Highly recommend it to anyone and will certainly be going again.

Great evening out had by the 2 of us

Thank you

User

Thank you for making my cousins birthday so special on Wednesday 13th June, food was amazing, the lady (sorry I have forgot her name) and Lauro really looked after us. Lauro even gave some of us a shot of his new drink he created. It was really nice it was that good i had two. Should go on the menu. Thanks again xx

Our 5th visit to this amazing restaurant, and as always everything was perfect. I always feel like I'm on holiday when I walk into the restaurant because the staff are so welcoming and always recognise us, giving that personal touch.

The food is to die for and have not had one dish here that we have not enjoyed.

I get annoyed at other reviews on here saying how expensive the restaurant is, as the menu is available to view online and the prices are on the menu when you order so why complain afterwards. I personally find the prices reflect the amazing food and service you receive.

The only negative is that we don't have time to come as often as we would like.

Lovely atmosphere and very nice staff, everyone was very polite and respectful of every individual in the building from customers to their fellow staff to children.

Ate on a Saturday afternoon, not planned just decided to try it.

I had the chicken liver pate, it was amazing to the point where I would dream about eating it again - came with something they call mustard fruits, sweet at first and then a mustard taste hits you. Not for me as I don't like mustard but definitely interesting and wanted to try them.

For main had the pea and asparagus risotto, very fresh tasted like you imagine spring would, I would order again but would request extra Parmesan - just my preference.

My gust had the olives - very tasty and HUGE (not many in the serving but you don't need many) then the tomato soup, very nice. Followed by the Florentina Pizza, cooked perfectly!

Finally I had the tiramisu, very nice but too full to eat it all so sadly I had to share. My guest had a coffee which the waiter forgot to order, but a simple mistake we all make them and sorted very quickly.

Very good food, quick service, nice atmosphere and good people.

Coming back again and I have my loyalty card with the sign up offer of £20 to spend so that is me back in a few weeks ordering more chicken liver pate!

It was our first time at Ginos tonight, a rare night of freedom from the kids.

We had the bread platter to start with, delicious. Hubby ordered the lasagne and I had the carbonara, again, both delicious but rich. I tried some of his lasagne and it was the best lasagne I've ever tried! We had a side order of green beans and oh my word they were delicious...yeh I know...green beans are green beans but these were so nice! We even opted for pudding (fat gits) he had salted caramel ice cream and I couldn't resist the chocolate and Nutella fudge cake. Frack me it was good but couldn't finish it as I was fit to burst and it was quite rich.

The staff were great, our waitress Magda was lovely. She was friendly and attentive. Each member made us feel very welcome and made sure we had everything we wanted. The restaurant is lovely, it wasn't very busy so it was nice and quiet.

We would definitely go back but I might not be such a fat git next time haha

Had the most amazing night. Food and staff were all

Amazing!! We were a group of 14 for my birthday. Had to pre order but so worth it. Great atmosphere, felt like we were on holiday!! Thanks for singing happy birthday!!

User

Had the absolute best night here tonight with my boyfriend for my birthday treat. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The staff are all so helpful & friendly. An absolute credit to Gino’s team. They are all wonderful. The food was top quality. Fresh & delicious. The cocktails are amazing. I would recommend the ligurain mojito. Thank you so much for the best night. See you soon

Had our first time at Gino’s today after holding out until the novelty of a new restaurant had died down and from looking at some of the reviews, however, I’m a firm believer in trying something for yourself.

We popped in for lunch as it’s my mums birthday and we had fabulous service by the 2 gents and equally fabulous food, it really was delicious. Followed by a treat of a candlelit pudding and a sing a long from all staff and other customers too

Will definitely come again. Xx

User

First time we’ve been in ginos and absolutely loved it. Went with the hubby for our anniversary and we couldn’t fault anything. The service from walking through the door was outstanding and the food was delicious x definately will be going back again xxx

Decided to have a lunch meal to celebrate my Sister in Laws birthday.

We were impressed with the setting, for a ‘chain’ Resteraunt it is set out well and looked smart.

We were greeted on arrival at the front of house by a very pleasant representative and had a nice mid room table for 4.

The surrounding was light and everywhere looked spotless.

There were only approximately another 4/5 tables with customers but even so we were not rushed and the staff were very discrete in leaving us to choose.

Ordering was easy and with my wife being Coeliac it is good to see a very clear and full of choice separate menu.

We had a Gluten Free Pizza Fiorentina Linguini with Fresh Crab & my favourite Lasagne. We had the IL BADALISC Pinot.

The food was excellent and the wine complimented the food well.

The food arrived nice and hot served well and tasted delicious. For a lunch it was generous portions and would be good for an evening meal.

We had various delicious deserts to finish our meals. Salted Caramel ice cream, affogato & Tiramisu.

Service was excellent, the table staff & Chef friendly and knowledgable.

After seeing other reviews I have been appalled.

Me and my partner both had 3 courses and were amazed at the quality and minimal time taken for food to come out.

We each ordered different through the courses and being a lobster lover I went for the linguine . Although slightly on the more expensive side, the atmosphere and the staff fun and commitment made it all worth while.

Lovely service throughout, jokes, laughs, directions and a lovely time had.

Although I couldn't afford to over eat there weekly, it would definately be a pay day spend!

Looking forwards to the next trip, especially with loyalty cards given on arrival.

Went on Saturday, impromptu lunch with husband and little girl, spent £64 on two starters and three mains. Cokes and apple juice! To pay £3 for a small bottle of coke and £2.75 for a kids apple juice is really expensive, we didn’t know how much the cokes were as wasn’t given a drinks menu, was only offered a wine list which we declined, husband got bruschetta and Arabiatta, both nice, i got calamari, was very nice but should be for £7.50 and small portion, and carbonara, this was ‘goopy’ was so looking forward to it being made properly, without the cream but the spaghetti (which was called something else) was really thick, too thick, texture was strange, and the bacon/pancetta was on the verge of burnt so very bitter and the sauce was thick and of a goopy texture, was really disappointed, tomato bread we shared was nice, but what amazed me was the kids meal, £8 for a flattened chicken breast in bread crumbs which my 4yr old said was dry without mayonnaise on, and some chips, the menu says chips, salad or buttered peas, Gino, kids need veg with their meal, include the peas for £8 for gods sake!! Also this didn’t include the drink or dessert so ridiculously expensive for a kids meal!! The place is absolutely gorgeous, but maybe think again about your prices and how the chef is cooking stuff over how good looking your staff are, friendly enough but all stunning and don’t they know it!!! Will be thinking twice about returning

User

Awful!! Went last night (19/05) with my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were both very disappointed.

The lasagna I’ve ordered was far too salty and I had to leave half of it on my plate. My husband ordered The minestrone soup for starters which was too blend, almost tasteless. For the main he chose the slow cooked stew which looked disgusting, was very watery and blend.

Waiters come to the table too often.

The place is too loud. Not a place to sit down, relax and enjoy. It’s far too loud!!!!

Didn’t enjoy it at all. Not worth the money.

Very disappointed. Will not be going back.

We'd read mixed reviews about Gino D'Acampo and thought we'd give it a go having just returned from 2 weeks in Italy. The first problem was getting into the place. The main entrance is to the left and not the (more obvious) middle door. Once we got in we found the atmosphere stylish and modern. Although we'd booked for two our table was set for four people which seemed a little odd to me. We shared a bread board (£4.75) and olives (£4.00) as a starter which was okay. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio (£24.00) which was good, if a little overpriced and a bottle of water (£4.25). For mains we had Linguine with fresh crab (£14.50) and Linguine with seafood (£14.25). Both lacked flavour, the prawns hadn't been deveined and the Linguine with seafood was swimming in oil. We both felt our main courses were disappointing and certainly didn't live up to the hype written on the menu. For dessert we shared a Limoncello ice cream (£5.25) which was good. The overall bill came to £78.00 including a mandatory 10% service charge.

The atmosphere in the place is pleasant but the food is nothing out of the ordinary. If anything the menu is pretentious and overpriced.

Visited the restaurant with my wife and another couple for a prebooked evening meal. Staff were very friendly constantly asking if all was ok during the meal but were very surprised and taken aback when advised of our comments. As a Ceoliac I found the Gluten after menu of little help as it declared that GF meals may contain gluten! In fact although making best efforts to avoid gluten I must have been served with contaminated food as I was poorly afterwards. The soup was listed on the GF menu with ciabatta but when I enquired if the ciabatta was GF the staff advised that it was not and no GF bread or GF ciabatta was available. After being served the soup another staff member asked if all was well to which stated GF bread would have been nice. To my great surprise she stated GF bread was available and went off to arrange some with tomatoe covering. The bread took ten minutes to arrive, by which time I had eaten the soup and the mains were about to be served. My main, Chicken Ceaser Salad, appeared to be a starter but I was assured that it wasn’t. The build your own ice cream was an excellent novelty, although a little expensive. Coffee was nice. My friends had equally dissapointing experiences with one course or another either with menu ingredients omitted or small portion size for what was an expensive evening. Attempts to join the Club Individual were frustrated by the website which refused to accept the application upon form completion when ‘Join’ was pressed, reverting back to an empty application form. The staff advised that it was not possible to join online contrary to the ‘Club leaflet providing a website link to join. The staff provided a paper form, requiring less info than online, for completion. When asked the process theron staff could not agree if I would receive a confirmation email. Indeed my dining friends who joined a week earlier did not receive confirmation but were able to use their discount card. Compared to my local (Lytham) restaurants its whom I recieve a 20% Club discount off all food the Club Individual card offers poor benefits unlikely to tempt me to return. All restaurants of which I am a Club member do not include a 10% service charge unless booking a large party. I suspect the service charge is not all paid to the staff and could not be assured otherwise. A expensive disappointing meal experience in a great setting with great atmosphere.

Hi today I came to your restaurant in Hull at kings wood for the first time with my mum aunty and my cousin we also had my son who is 4 and my little cousin who is 2. We sat down the waiter came to take our drinks order and he asked us if we wanted water he didn’t say if it was tap water or bottled so he brought us bottled water which we had .We also asked for a pint off coke which we got a half pint instead. We ordered our food we got three Lasagnes one Bologna’s and two kids meals we ordered chips with them. When our food came normally if I get a lasagne I have to cut it before I start eating it to cool it down but today I just cut it normally. So that wasn’t a good to start also the lasagne was really thick and stodgy. My aunty didn’t eat her she left it. When it came to the bill it was not what we thought . We were quite disappointed because we didn’t realise we had to pay for water also no one tells you that you have to pay a service charge of £11.80 .It should be up to you as the customer to decide weather or not you leave a tip. So today in total today just for me and my little boy I spent £37.50 that was a main and chips and two glass off wine and a kids pizza and chips. So over all we all spent a fortune and didn’t really enjoy it. To say it was our first time I’m sorry but we want be coming again.

A couple of weeks ago, very dear friends who frequent your Hull Restaurant, asked us to join them.

We were delighted to accept.

For starters we had both of the sharing platters between the four of us which were both fun and nice.

For mains, being a pizza addict, I chose your Neapolitan. I could not have been more disappointed. I was served a burnt, dry, hard tasteless dough base with some insipid, over cooked friarielli, no sign of Italian sausage or chilli. The pizza was inedible. I left it. The wine waiter was very concerned and I was offered a replacement but I declined as the others had finished eating and why would I want to sit there eating on my own?

When I say “finished eating” my husband, who ordered the linguine with seafood, was not impressed with the seafood and found the linguine to be a heavy gloop when he was expecting a finer dish, so he too, didn’t eat the majority of his meal.

On a positive note, both our friends ordered the spaghetti bolognese and enjoyed it.

Overall, the atmosphere and the staff were good but the food was very disappointing.

Ps. I emailed my disappointment to head office the very next day and still await a response. I have only just found this site.
