Day 1 at the SOMNEX - The Sleep Show done and now on our way for well earned food :D Look forward to seeing those of you who are able to join us tomorrow or Sunday here in London for support and to listen to our trustee and sleep nurse Samantha Backway. 20% discount tickets still available https://www.hope2sleep.co.uk/blog/somnex- sleep-show.html

User

Well, we've arrived in London ready for SOMNEX - The Sleep Show and left the charity in the capable hands of Dee Atkin and other kind volunteers Andrea Coupland and Kirsty Coupland. Thanks girls <3 As if that wasn't enough, Dee is taking on a 5K challenge for our charity on Sunday with her daughter Sarah East and husband Kevin Atkin. Good luck guys and we'd be grateful if you could support them with a small donation. #GoTeamHope2Sleep (y) https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sa rah-east7

We're currently getting ready to head to London to the SOMNEX - The Sleep Show and looking forward to seeing those who have already said they will see us there on the 13th and 14th October (Saturday and Sunday).
This is a different type of support and awareness event, as every aspect of sleep will be covered - in fact 120 exhibitors, along with the chance to try free yoga and mindfulness classes etc, private consultations, expert talks and workshops etc. Samantha Backway, one of our sleep and ventilation nurses will be giving a talk and offering advice and support on our stand and in the walk-in sleep clinic.
Visit our website for a 20% off discount code https://www.hope2sleep.co.uk/blog/somnex- sleep-show.html

#FridayFun - Came across this video showing Marge trying to help Homer with his CPAP. Pity they're not in our support group or we'd be able to tell her that the problem is Homer has his mouth open :D He could really do with one of the Dr Dakota Neck Cushions lol.

Just 2 months after their last warning, the Daily Express have issued another warning about the risks of heart attacks with sleep apnoea. As the article states, and we fully agree with, please don't ignore the signs and symptoms of sleep apnoea, and ask your GP to refer you for a sleep study, especially if you snore!

User

#FridayFun.....and this is why we don't meddle with our own CPAP pressures 😂🤣

User

A huge Thank You to everyone who supports us with their online shopping via Give as you Live <3 You've helped us now raise £500, so when sometimes we may only raise a few pence on each transaction, it really does add up (y) For anyone keen to join us (it costs nothing on top of your normal purchases, here's the link https://www.giveasyoulive.com/join/hope2s leepcharity

Tried to share this live yesterday from the Scottish Sleep Apnoea (SASA) Support Event but there was no Internet. Great day by the way 😊 Released our new product which we 'hope' will help a lot of CPAP users in encouraging nasal breathing and less mask leaks, or even snoring https://www.hope2sleep.co.uk/neck-cushion -for-chin-support-… There was a lot of interest and sales at yesterday's event too.

User

Wow! This was a year ago and our feet haven't touched the ground since, due to the fact of how common sleep apnoea is and how much support is needed.

User

We know about the link with undiagnosed sleep apnoea and strokes, and this study has found that commencing treatment for sleep apnoea as soon as possible after a stroke or a mini-stroke significantly improves speech impairment and other neurological symptoms as well as walking and other physical functioning.
National stroke guidelines recommend testing for sleep apnoea; however, past observational studies have shown that it is not being done. It is hoped that eventually testing for sleep apnoea will become part of the routine immediate tests for people who have a stroke or TIA.

Earn yourself £100 by taking part in this study, as we've been contacted by a reputable market research company about a study they’re conducting.
Participants will be paid £100, and they’ll also make a donation of £50 to our Hope2Sleep Charity for each person that successfully completes the study using our unique link.
They’re recruiting respondents in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy who have been diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea or Narcolepsy for a 60-mi...nute web-assisted telephone interview to take place in the next few days.
Please click on the link below if you're interested.

2 pieces of good news from the medical advisor of our charity, and my own sleep consultant at the Lane Fox Sleep & Ventilation Unit of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust :-
1) Dr Steier has a new title......'Professor' Joerg Steier, and we offer him our congratulations, which is so well deserved for such a hard-working kind consultant. There he is in the 1st image stood outside his office overlooking the River Thames :)
2) The 2nd piece of news, comes from Professor Steier himself, as he wants to share, to those eligible, that the Home Trials are now available for the alternative non-invasive electrical stimulation for those struggling with CPAP. Please see details on the 2nd image.

User

A shout out to patients who attend the Aintree University Hospital for their sleep apnoea, CPAP or non-invasive ventilator treatment. Please will you fill in this short survey as Aintree wish to know how their patients rate their service for sleep apnoea, and sleep disordered breathing, and are also interested in how they can support you better? Thanks! https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/X0SNW/

It's a very busy time at the moment as our next stop will be on Saturday, 22nd September to SASA's Sleep Apnoea Support Event in Bonnie Scotland. This time the conference is at the Holiday Inn in East Kilbride near Glasgow and we look forward to seeing many of our Scottish friends 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😊

User

News out today of a recent study stating how people with sleep apnoea are at double the risk of developing gout. This is thought to be caused by the low oxygen levels during the apnoeas and more research is needed to prove whether CPAP therapy improves the risk, which sounds likely, bearing in mind treating sleep apnoea stabilises our oxygen levels.

User

Fantastic day raising awareness of Sleep Apnoea and talking to people already fortunate enough to be diagnosed.
Thanks for inviting us Bilton, Wyton and Ganstead Village Hall and Memorial Playing Fields and well done for putting on such a great event :)

User

It's not often you get to raise awareness of sleep apnoea with an RAF fly- past above you (y)

User

User

Went above and beyond to help me with a travel tag order. Thank you so much xxx

User

Well worth looking at if you have people in your life that snore loudly. I was diagnosed in Oct and the cpap has not always been easy to get used to, but I am sleeping so much better now. Good luck to anyone investigating this.

User

The site was invaluable to me when I was first diagnosed, and now I know there are people I can trust to give me advice and support, the shop is really useful as well and delivery is fast.

User

The most amazing charity. Very understanding and full of tips and advice plus lots of information.

User

Thank you for such competitive pricing in the online shop! I've just placed an order online and look forward to receiving it next week!

Would you ever consider offering mask fit insurance for mask purchases? I bought my mask elsewhere because I wasn't sure if it would be suitable (they offered fit insurance), otherwise I would have bought from you (the parts on my order are less than the list price at the place where I bought the mask).

Thanks again,

Kate

User

Not got my cpap machine just yet but will deff be buying and thank you Kath for all advice given so far xxx

User

My wife has just been diagnosed with Sleep Apnoea. The NHS staff were excellent but it was information overload. Hope2Sleep was recommended at the clinic. It has helped us to understand the diagnosis and associated problems. The Shop? Wow! Ordered Friday 3pm, delivered at 1pm Saturday to the remote North West Highlands and thankfully by post for a modest fee compared to carriers. Thank you so much.
