Paul Reynolds is a digital champion volunteer for Hull lets get online which is run by Hull City Council and has been supporting us to deliver the group workshops.
Paul has been a great help to us during the workshops, from giving general support and advice about the great benefits of being online and how our customers can access digital channels (e.g. for job search, online banking, paying bills online), and also delivering presentations promoting Universal Credit from a first hand point of view.

Today, we’ve introduced our Rent First initiative to get the message across to Council tenants to put the payment of their rent at the top of their "to do" list.
Landlord and tenants have certain obligations to each other. The council, as landlord, provides a decent home and supports the tenant with repairs and other housing services. In return tenants pay your rent without which the Council cannot provide these services
If Council tenants are having problems paying, they should contact us as soon as possible to see how we can help and support them.

“Building Homes in Hull,” Thursday 27 November, 4 – 8 pm at the DoubleTree Hilton, Ferensway, Hull Are you a builder, plasterer, plumber, electrician, joiner or any other tradesperson supplying trades and services to the housebuilding industry? If so, you may be interested in coming along to “Building Homes in Hull.” Organised specifically for small businesses, developers and sole traders in the sector, the event will offer advice on taking advantage of the opportunities emerging in the city. The Council requires its development partners to hire a high percentage of local labour so they are looking to local businesses to help them meet their targets.

News Release
27 September 2018 For Immediate Release
... Changes to licensing for houses in multiple occupation
New Government regulations affecting some types of houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) come into force on 1 October 2018. The changes extend licensing to cover HMOs lived in by five or more people and make up two or more households and who are sharing amenities, such as a bathroom or kitchen, regardless of the number of floors. Previously, HMOs only had to have a licence from the local authority if the property had three or more floors. There is new guidance on the minimum size for bedrooms, and the licence holder will have to follow the council’s guidelines on refuse disposal to reduce problems with waste management which are often associated with HMOs. Landlords and agents whose properties fall within the new definition must apply for a licence before 1 October 2018. There is an online application form on the Council’s website. Cllr John Black, the Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing said. “These changes to licensing HMOs will go a long towards improving the living arrangements for people living in HMOs.” Full details of the new licensing proposals can be found at: http://www.hull.gov.uk/…/private…/hou ses-multiple-occupation Landlords in Hull with any queries about the new licensing regime should emailhousing.standards@hullcc.gov.uk or call (01482) 300 300.

This is what we have to look at every time we leave the house... Hull: The City of Culture 2017 what a disgrace. I wonder how the organisers and managers of the council and city of culture would like if this was dumped outside their house. This eye sore has been left like this since November last year and has become a dumping ground for people to burn piles of rubbish, household furniture and anything else...... THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. I wonder how long it would take the council to clear this mess if i stopped paying poll tax!!!

User
