Visiting this area for first time stayed at the kings chamber, ate in the pub. Staff very friendly and helpful , bed comfortable food excellent and plenty of it . I would recommend it to anyone , also child friendly with a play area inside pub for families with smaller children , but not disturbing other dinners

User

This is a hidden gem , food was really nice , good atmosphere and the staff are very helpful and have ‘smiley’ faces , will definitely be back

User

My husband, brother-in-law and I stayed at Kings Chambers for 5 nights beginning of June. The staff couldn't have been my accommodating ! I'm on crutches and had a room on 1st floor bil had ground floor , we asked if we could swap rooms but they went 1 better and offered me an easy access room. We jumped at the chance... no messing around it had a wet room rather than a bath so much easier for me thankyou Peter. David, Kelly, Deborah and everybody else who's name I have forgotten thankyou for making our stay memorable and we will be coming back later in the year

User

Delicious food staff are very polite the place itself is spotless can highly recommend .

User

User

User

I've been for lunch today for a belated mother's Day lunch, we both had pie from the 2 for £10 menu and it was beautiful and my mam makes an excellent pie herself so to impress her is an achievement. :-)

User

Just visited ordered half roast chicken at £9.25 , a dried up miniature chicken arrived, no meat on it all bone, dried up sweet potato fries, ordered piri piri sauce it was poured all over chicken not in a side dish, probably to cover up the chicken. Gammon steak was like eating a packet of salt. Offered a different meal as he couldn't guarantee the chicken would be any better if they swapped it. Not succulent as advertised on the menu then, but husband was finished before mine arrived. Had a refund. Appalling service and food!!!

User

Went for food with my partner, service seemed good until we ordered food which we waited 50 minutes for before going to the bar to enquire as to where it was in which case we ended up askin a waitress as the employee on the bar ignored my partner n served someone else who came to the bar after us. For the wait we got a free desert but that wasnt enough as for when we did get our food i received a raw egg on my gammon and the chips tasted of oil as and as if they had been triple fried. I dont think i will be coming back.

User

Have been here lots of times, no problems. Booked in for New Years Eve, there was no times on there site or did it state it would be closed until a certain time, so we walked down when we were ready which was 6.15pm for meal at 7. Arrived and Was met at the door by Liz's partner! Firmly holding the door handle as he spun round and RUDELY saying WE ARE CLOSED! And it's ticket only!!!!!

My husband was not impressed to say the least!!!!!,

At which point he said we have booked but forget it we won't bother!

Spoilt our night completely as we walked back home and did not return!!!!!

All the rude person had to say was sorry the doors do not open until 7pm!!!

He has a serious attitude problem!!!!!

Don't think we will be returning there again!!!!!!!

We went for a meal on 25/02/18 and found it very poor indeed. My Dad ordered fish and chips, when he cut into it, he could see it was still raw. He took it back, the member of staff apologised, gave us a round of free drinks and said he’d send another meal out. The second attempt at fish and chips arrived (at which point, everyone in the group had finished their meal); this was also raw. I took this back to the bar, the member of staff said sorry and said they would deal with it. Another member of staff approached the table and asked to speak to the person who ordered fish and chips, I assume they were the manager/assistant manager. They then proceeded to tell my Dad that the fish was ‘100% definitely cooked’ and it just looked uncooked ‘because of the thawing process it goes through’. My Dad was completely fed up by this point and had lost his appetite. My tolerance of nonsense (to put it politely) is extremely low, so at this point I butted in to tell the member of staff that my Dad is a chef and therefore knows when fish is cooked. The member of staff maintained it was cooked (it really wasn’t). I asked for a refund, which was given along with the offer of an alternative meal or dessert. My Dad didn’t take up the offer, two raw offerings was enough for one night. Needless to say, we won’t be back anytime soon.

We have eaten at King's chambers a number of times before and never had cause to complain but just been today wife had carvery and my son and I had hunters half roast chicken and chips the chicken was lovely My and I both said how nice it was but then the chips well if they had been cooked it wasn't for very long they were hard and my legs have more colour on them one of the girls ask if everything which I replied not really and told her about the chips she went off with the plates and few minutes later the manager came stood over us and I said that the chips were not cooked to which he very hastily yes that they were As they check with temperature gauge.

He then ask if we wanted some more chips but as we had finished I said no and we left not very happy

User

Walked in had to wait 20 minutes , when our buzzer went off ,was not for us , also had to find our own table ,nobody came to us ,my husband had to go find out why , in the end got some food , very dissapointed by the staff , very poor

User

Popped into my fave Thorne eatery to find they stopped serving at 8 so dropped in here for a quick bite. Carvery for sir and mushroom pate for me. Peas were the only edible veg on the pass and the beef was disgustingly chewy as I tried a bit while I waited for mine. The first pate served had holes in the slices of French toasted bread so I asked for full ones, these duly arrived but the pate was so incredibly salty it was vile. When the staff asked if it was ok he thought I was joking when I told him it was all vile and why. No refund was offered but he did say I should have told them before. My guy is so polite he’ll eat whatever is put in front of him and not complain he just won’t go back, well neither will I. I’ve eaten here around four times for the same reason as tonight and it’s been bloody awful every time

User

More fat than steak in my steak sandwich and making a hungry 2 year old wait half an hour between starter and main, then a further 20 minutes for jelly and icecream (where it was more cream than ice at that point) when it isn’t even busy. Poor.

User

Just walked into the kings chamber at Thorne. Orderd 2 Cokes and a lime and lemonade....I was then asked for ID!! What for a Lime and lemonade? The woman replied "I have to ask you for ID as its adults only at the bar!!!"

Gobsmacked I replied "I'm 31 years old!" She said take it as a compliment ( one of the worst things I hear is this statement, as I do it not take it as a compliment, I find it massively offensive). I said I'm bringing my kids for tea after swimming which I often do on a Friday. Other people were laughing at the bar. I did have my ID on me as unfortunately looking young I do have to take it everywhere but this is a joke, and I refused to show it...I was far too angry and embarrassed at this point, and not wanting to cause a scene, I left, pissed off...with hungry kids!!

What an absolutely ridiculous rule. I need ID to order soft drinks and food from a restaurant? Fuming does not even come close. I wont be going back, which is a shame because we enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Pity they have such ridiculous rules.

Macdonald's for tea instead tonight kids!

Called in for sunday carvery 29th april. At 3pm.Opted for the medium at 9.95. Got 2 very thin slithers of meat turkey and beef when i asked for a bit more i felt like oliver was given a dirty look and got another peice the size of my fork. At this point i gave up and got veg. To be met at the other side of the counter my a staff member with a medium size plate half full of meat. When i asked if that was a medium portion he replied its for staff. Never known staff so rude my friend who is 6ft 5 had the large carvery when he asked if he could have the end bit of meat that she had just cut and left to side she just NO..

Kingschamber managers you really need to sort out your staffs attitude . I was absolutly disgusted . As a resident of thorne that has to be my first and last visit. ......

Never known staff so rude my friend who is 6ft 5 had the large carvery when he asked if he could have the end bit of meat that she had just cut and left to side she just NO..

Kingschamber managers you really need to sort out your staffs attitude . I was absolutly disgusted . As a resident of thorne that has to be my first and last visit. ......
