Anniversary celebration 🍾

Yesterday was the wedding of my son Jon to Emma. We had a lovely day which was made more special with the wedding meal at La Anchor in evening. We took over the whole restaurant. The venue is beautiful, intimate but with space and the ambience is sublime. I have not had such a warm welcome from a restaurant owner in a very long time as I did from Nick. In fact all the staff were amazing, absolutely nothing was too much trouble for any one. They made every request a pleasure. Now to the food! Where do I start...... it was just perfect. My only complaint was that my tummy just couldn’t eat it all. However for anyone wanting to...... a doggie bag was provided. Guess I’m finishing my rib eye steak today for dinner then. I cannot rate this restaurant enough that seems to do the whole evening justice. So Nick and your whole team....... Thank You. Jon’s mum xx

What can I say ..... wow service great food great portions massive and if you run out of belly they will box it up and you can repeat the enjoyment another time when you are hungry eventually

Went last night for our granddaughters 9 th Birthday. She chose as she has been before. My first time but won’t be my last. Sirloin steak cooked just as I wanted. Mighty portions of everything else. Not one disappointed face from a group of 9 adults and 2 kids. Highly recommend.

We live in York and are more than willing to travel to this place as it truly is a cut above the rest, we eat out quite a lot and I still state La Anchor � is my favourite place.

It's just been refurbished and is looking fantastic, such a beautiful ambient atmosphere has been achieved which is perfect to sit and enjoy a very well cooked and presented meal.

The staff and service are 2nd to none, and the head chef coming out into the restaurant to check his customers are happy is a real nice touch.

Nick the owner is so very passionate about this place, he greets all guests and immediately makes them feel welcomed and cared for - I cannot promote this restaurant enough, it truly is my favourite place to dine.

We got home from work and decided we would eat dinner out. I went on Trip Advisor and saw that it was the number 1 place to go in the area (even though we hadn't heard of it). Called up and booked a table for 8pm. The place was beautiful. The service was fab. The chef even came out to check our food was OK. Both the starters and mains were excellent. We'll be definitely be using this as our number one place to take our family and friends! Couldn't recommend it enough. :)

The food here was exceptional, visited with a group and not one person was disappointed.

Recommended starters- garlic dough balls/garlic mushrooms

Recommend mains- lasagne/steak/pizza

The Baileys and malteaser cheesecake is the best cheesecake I have ever tasted!

The service was brilliant too, booking was simple and when we arrived we were served quickly

Second time we've been and both me, my wife and our children love it. Friendly staff, laid back atmosphere and amazing food. Huge portions too, so you wont come away hungry. Definately worth the travel. Recommend booking in peak times.

Really enjoyed our meal, everything was perfect, no rush, the waitress was always on hand with replenishing our drinks, even the Chef and Manager had time for a chat, oh and the food was excellent, big portions and delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Our family called this evening as our little boy had a cricket match just round the corner. We booked a table for 8:30pm and were warmly welcomed. We ordered drinks in the bar before being shown to our table. My fiancée ordered the calamari and the others ordered bread, oil and balsamic to share. I’m glad we didn’t order any more starters as the portions were huge! Thankfully, I got to taste plenty of both starters, the calamari was so light and fresh. The mains were also impressive, the pizzas and pasta dishes almost enough to serve 2 people, just huge; amazing value for money. The lobster ravioli was really lovely. We same the homemade chips on the pass just after we had ordered and they looked good, so added a portion on. Wow, the best homemade chips ever! So good. Finally, the make your own pizza option for kids is great & our little boy really enjoyed making his own creation, before demolishing it all. The service was lovely and attentive but not intrusive. I would say this is one of the best Italian meals we have ever enjoyed as a family and look forward to returning and trying more of the menu.

Our 6th visit and am still very impressed with the food and staff, the quality the food is fantastic, we couldn't ask for a better night out. We will be definitely be booking again very shortly, fankyou to all the staff at la anchor, your service is first class.

Omg where do I start. Went last night for our wedding anniversary meal. Service was great, lovely friendly staff nothing was too much trouble. The food, oh wow the food was just simply some of the nicest iv ever eaten, good size portions (my eyes were bigger than my pregnant belly, but didn’t stop me having 3 courses) we will most definitely be back as I need to work my way through the menu, thankyou� xxx

Just had a beautiful meal at this lovely restaurant the food is first class with very generous portions (the garlic bread is out of this world) but the best thing about this place is the attention to detail and customer service is in abundance nothing is too much hassle for this team

First time here tonight and OMG what an amazing superb meal and night we have had!! The Food was fantastic, the best mussels and the lobster ravioli was amazing! First time here and absolutely loved it. Quality food and fantastic portions. It's nice to know you don't always have to go to Leeds or York for a great restaurant when there are gems like this. The staff were all friendly and helpful and I'll definitely be making the effort to go again. Highly recommended. ���

Fabulous food. Huge portions and friendly service. Very busy too so you need to book. Ambience needs some attention - better lighting, better music system and softer furnishings but these are far outweighed by the food. Please always have soya milk available in the fridge and dairy free icecream in the freezer. We will definitely visit again.

Absolutely superb, the quality of food and portion sizes are phenomenal, the waitresses are attentive, friendly delightful young ladies... couldn’t recommend this place enough!!!

Absolutely fabulous time last night. The staff are lovely, the owner explained his wine prices without trying to get more money from us. The food is great, we asked for a foccacia that wasn't on the menu and they accommodated us. I brought home a doggy bag because the portions do not skimp!!! Thank you La Anchor for a lovely night for my dads 70th, and sitting near the kitchen on a previous visit, the chefs are amazing

Absolutely fabulous food. Lobster ravioli stunning. Lasagna lovely and garlic tomato bread something else. To top it off for Mother’s Day she was given a very large box of chocolates. See you next time
