wonderful day lots to see and do,spotless toilets good food and lovely staff, its free to enter but a fiver in their collection bucket will not hurt,we really enjoyed our day and finished it off with a trip on their Mini Train to York Minister

User

We took my parents, we visited at the end of our trip to York, the Railway museum provide wheel chairs which we reserved to make sure we had one. This was so helpful thanks.

The cafes provide amazing food. A lovely place to visit.

User

The National Railway Museum is a wonderful place to visit. Entry to the museum is free but I was happy to make a ┬Ż5 donation. The locomotives on display take you back to a different era, locomotives like the Mallard and The Duchess of Hamilton.

They had Royal carriages from the time of Queen Victoria.

All in all, I had a good time.

User

The National Railway Museum at York is arguably the most famous Museum in the whole of the United Kingdom and the world, I have little memories when I first came here when I was about 3 years old with my family one early memory was when Mallard was on the Great Hall's turntable. After that day my Nana takes me there year after year after year and since then my interests in the world of Steam railways and modern kept growing.

User

One of my favourite museums I've been to. A lot of fantastic trains. Just filled with nostalgia. Came with a group of friends. One of my friends declined to come because she's not interested in trains, but I think she would've enjoyed it regardless.

The museum is well-laid out with some great trains. I had a marvellous time, and I would definitely go again.

User

My brother and I visited yesterday, ( the last time we went it was the old museum) and thoroughly enjoyed all of the exhibits. Our Father was a Railwayman for over 35 years. He started as a Cleaner in 1942 and became a Fireman, then Driver and he retired as an Inspector.

User

If you are in York and want somewhere to go then this is the place to go. A great Museum with lot's to see. We really enjoyed looking around and it is free to get in.

User

I've never been before went yesterday lovely way to spend my last afternoon in York an amazing city so much to see . Id definitely return here the museum was brilliant got so much out of it the exhibits were brilliant quality products in the shop so much to see could have done with more time I came before closing time .

User

Had a fantastic day out at the museum and could have spent a few hours more just walking around. If there's any fault I could find its that the building could be even bigger to show off all of the exhibits.

User

Had a brilliant day out yesterday with my son in York railway museum is a must if you visit York with your family you can sit on the bullet ’┐Į see the mallard and all the great different types of trains from times gone by

User

Great museum, loads to look at. Our son loved the road train to get to the museum. Made it all the more special. Our son loved how you could touch most trains and get in some

Only down side was the heat. It was so hot in all the sheds. Needs some sort of air con or fans.

User

Fantastic day out. Loads to see. I love the diesel engines most but plenty of steam too plus Royal coaches and very interesting exhibits about British Rail, Flying Scotsman etc. Well worth a ┬Ż5 donation. Good shop too. One of the best museums in the country. York is stunning to visit too.

User

Fabulous from start to finish! Although I would have liked to see some uniforms and overalls from the 50's and 60 's. But that didn't spoil my visit at all. Thank you!

User

Amazing, loved the little things too, not just the trains. The model trains, statues, signs and so on. Looking up the catalogue numbers in the ledgers is a plus. Spent about four hours inside the museum, happy to have donated a few pounds.

User

A fabulous day out. The exhibits were great, the shop was lovely and above all the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Just keep it as it is - don't change it!! Would definitely recommend.

User

We had a lovely time at the museum today. My little one loved the turntable demonstration and being able to go in and out of the trains. The gift shop is great with lots of choice and variety. It would have been even better if there was a play park.

User

The exhibitions are amazing. The food and drink is very expensive (in my opinion), but with no entrance fee you can understand them needing to make money somehow. Well worth a visit.

User

An excellent visit for both of us oldies. The only disappointment was the catering . Overpriced and odd selection of dishes offered in the dining car.The choice in the cafe was restricted and expensive too. Next time we visit we will bring our own packed liunch. A varied and interesting display of exhibits, and was happy to pay the suggested donation. The lack of quality catering is the only reason for the four stars.

User

I paid the entrance fee for me and my kids, but staff not very helpful, clearly they could see I was on my own - locker needed ┬Ż2 & ┬Ż1, no change given to help. Cafe over priced - could buy one and a half pizzas for the price of 1 slice. Went outside all tables & chairs wet, trying to seat my kids had to get tissues to wipe chairs - staff quite slow in helping, did it myself. Engines very good.
