I am a Personal Trainer providing 1 on 1 and small group sessions in a home gym based in Acomb.
There is always a friendly atmosphere and my gym is completely private!
Perfect for those who like to avoid a busy gym.

"Deciding I needed to do something about my fitness levels, although necessary if I do not want to end up feeling old before my time, was not a leisure/lifestyle choice I particularly embraced with much enthusiasm.
As a 55 year old arthritic overweight male going to the gym seemed like a nightmare scenari...o; all those muscled men and women flexing their biceps in front of mirrors! I could not bring myself to sign up.
These big corporate gyms are not for me. Then a friend told me about Ouch Potato. A family friendly, no nonsense gym set up in the centre of Acomb where the emphasis is on getting you fitter at a structured pace with planned agenda that fit in with your personal goals. None of your hi tech fancy machinery you cant figure out here. No treadmills with TV screens nor communal showers nor coffee shop. Just honest equipment in 2 large gym spaces and a dedicated trainer who will put you through your paces, at your pace.
My sort of gym where I feel like I can fit in, not feel intimated and know it will make a difference to my health given time and hard work. At present I am on a personal training programme for between 3 and 6 months to build up my strength and confidence before i move onto class based programmes; my choice as it suits my needs.
If I can do it, trust me, so can you. All you need is a pair of shorts and a t-shirt then take your choice of where your journey begins. Just don't forget to take a bottle, the water is free."

How much better I am feeling, everyone is great and really helpful can't wait for my 2nd visit of the week ��

Tried gyms b4 and soon got bored but this is a different place! Fun,motivating,sociable and friendly iv soon got into a more healthy and active routine

Ouch potato has just run the most awesome session for my rainbow unit, and their dads for Father’s Day. It was brilliant to see them working together as a team and against each other.

Ouch Potato. Amazing place to train laid back fun but the hardest I've ever trained. I can now see my little pecka with out standing over a mirror thank Ouch Potato. �.

My two boys love going to the kids strength and conditioning sessions !! One of my boys doesn't do sport but wanted to keep fit so is perfect for him ! It has given him lots of confidence and how to work out safely. These sessions were much needed in York. Would highly recommend !

My girls have started the kids classes, they love it. Steve is brilliant with the children. They are exercising but having lots of fun at the same time. Half an hour classes are perfect too! Highly recommended.

My 10yr old son has recently started working out at ouch potato. After struggling to find something active for him to do and keep him focused he has finally found that!! He loves going 3 times a week and the value for money is incredible. It's good to see someone preparing young kids for what it's like in a big gym and teaching them how to work out properly and safely 🏋🏽🏋🏽‍♀️

Just had my first HIIT session and it was brilliant! Very welcoming atmosphere and great advice from Steve. I haven't done much gym based exercise for a few years but I'm glad I've signed up to this place and am really looking FWD to seeing the results!! Defs recommend to others.

I recently started training with Steve at Ouch Potato and absolutely love each of my personal training sessions and also the weds evening weights class. Steve assessed my condition at the outset and put a plan in place to help me get fit again. After just a few weeks I am already noticing improvements to my fitness, posture and strength. I would highly recommend Ouch Potato to anyone that is thinking about improving their fitness no matter where they're at right now. If you've tried the usual gyms in the past and failed then Ouch Potato is the place for you, its a completely different approach, you'll actually look forward to your workouts :)

I hate the gym and have been coming here for two months and absolutely love it there’s classes to suit all and it’s the friendliest place I’ve ever been you can also take little ones they have a play area and stair gate so no excuses I feel so much better as well!!

I can't recommend Steve and the Ouch Potato gym enough...Steve is very approachable and friendly but absolutely knows his stuff! The gym is unique in that it has a very family friendly feel to it...no matter how fit or unfit you are, you are always made more than welcome, no intimidating "meat heads" making you feel uncomfortable!

With a range of classes on throughout the week, there really is something for everyone...including family funfit classes and mum&baby classes too!

Make no mistake though, Steve is a seasoned professional who will put you through your paces and make you sweat - just what you want!

Class bookings are made through a very easy to use free app - all very professional yet simple.

I have also had 1 on 1 personal training sessions for the last 3 months to help me get in shape for my wedding - highly recommended!
