My daughter & I have just spent a 2day break in York & had the most lovely meal in your Restaurant. In fact she said it was the best meal she'd ever tasted. Also the waiter was so friendly & helpful, a real canny lad, as we Geordies would say. Many thanks.

Love this place, been here numerous times and cannot fault it. Only down side is occasionally there are large groups that ruin the atmosphere, then when they get asked to calm down cause a scene and write false reviews #fakenews

Excellent venue with superb food, staff and beers. In particular poppy and fergus need praise or promotion or something. Made a couple of drinks an experience to remember. Will be back

Food, drinks and view great but almost walked away as they said we couldn’t make a food order at the bar but then we couldn’t find anyone to take the order. I asked about food offers but not one of the bar staff could tell me ! Didn’t used to be like that !

Brilliant bar tender (long hair tied back), really nice cocktails. However, food was not as we had hoped. Salad was swimming in dressing, and the wrap was bland. Waitress and manager, although did give us discount, did not deal with complaints well, standing in silence. Nice bar. Great drinks. Today the food let us down.

Can I just say I'm totally disgusted by the member of staff the served us. She refused to serve us alcohol but would serve us food. She was told that a few members in our group if 7 had too much alcohol. We are a group if 7 professionals who got off a train at 3pm who wanted good and a couple of drinks. I for one ordered Water. The manager Fergus with all due respect was doing his job and said I cannot over rule my staff. With all due respect I was out with my manager who over rules my decisions so that is a load of rubbish. There were people in the bar that was in previous bars fighting both men and women

The manager wasn't prepared to negotiate on this. I will not be returning and will also advising my friends and family the same

We travelled from sheffield and had booked a table in advance, we was shown to out table, by a waitress showed us to our table, then another waitress came back to serve us we said can we order drinks and she said ive been told you cant order drinks coz you have had enough, which we hadnt we wasnt loud or stupid at all we just sat at our table to order drinks and food as we had pre booked for food.

We are all professionals and was out for a lovely day on a works function.

We noticed that others that had been seen at other pubs fighting that was at the bar already and had been serve alcohol, i do believe its been age discrimination and we have been treated discusting and the manager came to see us and stuck to his staff decitions but she had not seen us to come to this conclusion about us, discusting customer service as none of us we drunk or was load or owt

Total waste of time when in went to the bar to get some drinks was asked if we were having food we said yes probebly so the lad behind the bar said just pick any table and someone will come and take your order so my daughter and i picked a table sat down inside there was a few people outside but no one inside to we thought great we will get served pretty quick and then have time to do a bit shopping in york as only there for the day after sitting for nearly 20 mins and no one came to take our order a rather dirty chef came out to get himself a drink im a chef myself and i believe a dirty chef makes a dirty kitchen so decided against food and then a young girl came over and asked if we were ready to order and i said yes can i have 2 cocktails at that she said you need to go to the bar myself needless to say we got up and walked out and went to another pub had a lovely snack two very large gins and were served by very friendly staff will never go back it needs lots of staff training and a good clean

Terrible experience ! Staff attitude deplorable ! Do not go in if you want to have a laugh as your told to be quiet ! Rude obnoxious and threatening behaviour from male staff member! Clearly not bothered about customer experience or service no welcoming atmosphere we travelled on a day trip for a late xmas gathering with friends. On a plus I would highly recommend the ivy in York not 1 issue and you were able to have a laugh with friends in a much more welcoming and friendly environment without feeling like your back at school been told off just for having a little laugh amongst friends. Absolute joke

My partner and I drove nearly 3 hours for a nice day out in York as the sun was shining! Expecting to have a nice meal in the sunshine... We went into the bar to order and they told us it was table service... they then took 15 mins to come out to us. Once we ordered the food, we had sharing platters. It came out an and we started to nibble on them, the waitress then came over and took it off us as it wasn’t ours and then watched her take it to another table even though we had ate off it... Eventually we got our platter and the Camembert was stone cold ( not even cooked) at this point we have waited a hour for a Camembert and a few nibbles! I was then told it wouldn’t be long.... half a hour later It wasn’t ready ( or they forgot to put it in) so over all I waited hour and half for no food!!! So we payed for the one starter that arrived and drinks and left! Very disappointing!!!

Location is great, Riverfacing great views and large balcony area. Visited with my 20-year-old niece and my 18-year-old for a bottle of Pinot Grigio blush. Worst bottle of Pinot I've had in a long time acidic and tasteless

We came to your bar to celebrate and bring in the New Year. We arrived (after leaving another bar so we could deliberately be in your bar for 12) at about 11.40, ordered drinks and at 11.56 All of your staff ( including the guy in the process of making our drinks) headed off to the end of the bar to have a shot with the manager and bring in the New Year. Unfortunately for everyone else in you establishment there was no New Year countdown or any acknowledgment of New Year so it was missed by most! I was not the only one in the bar dissapointed as I heard many complaints. Please can you advise if this is standard practice across all of your venues or just your York branch. Please respond.

Applaud by the way we were treated this afternoon. Spoken to like absolute dirt by the very rude manager. Kicked out for dancing and having fun? Manager no where to be seen when we asked to speak to him after he aggressively spoke to one of the girls trying to resolve the issue. Wouldn’t ever go back.
