We held our daughters 3rd birthday here with 10 other 2/3 year olds. The café were wonderful and provided all of the activities, decor and food and a friendly atmosphere. All the children left happy as well as the parents. Thank you so much for the lovely afternoon and for making us all feel so welcome!

We enjoy spending our Sunday mornings drinking coffee and reading the papers whilst the children happily read books before we venture into the park for some fresh air. So happy this place is on our doorstep in the park which we call our ‘back garden’.

We absolutely love Rowntree Park Reading Cafe. Lots of yummy and indulgent choices on the menu, my son loves all the books in the children's area and the setting is so relaxing and welcoming.

It can very very busy, especially in school holidays, which is only a testament to how well loved the Reading Cafe is!

Love this place! It is like a second home to me and the little ones. We snuggle up with books on a weekend morning, enjoy fantastic breakfast food, a wonderful vibe and we love the awesome staff! Such a heart of the community.

I’m a visitor to York and it’s the first time I’ve been. What a lovely welcoming place to sit with a coffee and read a book. I wish there was somewhere like this in my neck of the woods.

I was visiting my son in York today and he suggested we have lunch here. What a lovely place! Food was delicious, friendly staff and beautiful surroundings. I have anxiety and don't often like to eat out but I felt very relaxed and peaceful here.

I stupidly added this to the other page by mistake!....Called in the other day for an early lunch, a lot of the tables were taken and it was obvious I was struggling to manoeuvre a large buggy and a lively 4 year old who was just desperate to get to the the book area! A very kind lady with dark hair came over to help me, I put the pushchair out of the way near the toilets so both children had enough room to enjoy the books. I was fortunate to enjoy a cream cheese and salmon bagel with a little bit of peace. It's the first time I've eaten in this cafe and would highly recommend it, I was grateful for somewhere child friendly, normally we are frowned upon for causing noise! I have been in a couple of times before, but just for a drink and have sat outside.

Friendly, warm, relaxed, lovely food...comfort in every sense on a freezing winter's day and a great place to enjoy good company with a friend.

Beautiful setting and a very nice cafe.

Very pleasant spot to call in while walking in the park or by the river. Good food and a pleasant atmosphere. Dog friendly balcony with a lovely view over the park.

The food and coffee was great, my only criticism is the coffee sizes are too small. Order the ham sandwich if you go, you will not be disappointed.

We went for a walk to the cafe for Coffee and Cake and we where very disappointed!! The sun was shinning, so that brought people out, when we got there at 1.30 the place looked abit of a mess, tables needed cleaning books and papers all over! We got coffee and I asked for 2 pieces of Lemon cake, it looked like a child's portion, and was told that was it! We have sold out!! Abit early in the afternoon to be selling out.Think we will try somewhere else next time! Sorry!
