Visited yesterday with my other half.. had a sharing platter & the huge pornstar martini with the bottle of prosecco. Staff very helpful..beautiful drink and great food! We will be back! �

I went to the bar on the 13th November. Party of 9. We enjoyed both food and drinks. Waitress (Jess) was friendly and served good cocktails and drinks. The food servers were also friendly, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff.

Had a cocktail class here yesterday with 7 other girls and everyone enjoyed it. Great class from Jonny with a good mix of education and humour to suit the group perfectly. Cocktails were lovely and the buffet to follow was just as nice. Will definitely be returning, thank you jonny!!�

We had a lovely afternoon, my daughter and I had cocktails and then food. Service was good, food was good and we didn't wait long. All in all excellent value for money.

Was in the Slug and lettuce Monday night, the waitress Sarah was very helpful and the food tasted good, we would return.

Stopped off ,while shopping, for lunch with my daughter. Good value meal and delicious cocktails. We were enjoying spending time together but the wait for food was ridiculous. Both waitresses serving us were polite and friendly , taking time to ask if we were all right and apologising for delays.

Had a great evening. The waitress was lovely and pleasant and the service was really good.

We had a selection of the small plates and the food was excellent. Would definitely visit again.

We went for lunch on a busy Saturday. The food was lovely and the cocktails were great but our waitress was quite rude and very unhelpful. Our party's full order didn't go through their till so one of us was delayed getting their food. The waitress dealt with this by ignoring us pretty much the whole time we were there. My friends food took that long she actually cancelled her order as the rest of us were already finished. We spent plenty of money and expected better service. Probably won't visit again and will try somewhere else next time.

Place was very disorganised! Only two people working, one guy rushing around doing everything while the girl just took orders! Food came very quickly but we had almost finished by the time we chased drinks up! These were deducted from the bill but still not great service. Food was good and value for money!

Ordered 2 Aperol spritz and they were both spoilt by way to much tonic to the point were you couldn't taste anything but tonic

£4:40 for a non alcoholic bottle of Becks Blue, how does that encourage people not to drink and drive. It was cheaper to have a full pint of Guinness at £4:20. Outrageous ���

What a shame � we waited 20 minuets to be served found a table ( which we cleared our self ) went back to the bar and the que was even bigger 30 minuets later we left without getting our second drink and didn’t even get trimmings in our drink not enough staff total let down �

Went to slug and lettuce yesterday for my sons birthday ..service was shocking ...waited 30 mins at bar ..staff were rude we were asked to move from a table as soneone else needed it to eat but they were ok that we sat at it to drink!!!! Appalling ..would not call that customer service will not go again

Went in on Friday evening for the 2-4-1 cocktails. Ordered the cosmopolitans as usually ok. I have never seen or tasted anything so watery in my life. Very poor. Won't be ordering them again. Come on get your act together. You have a lot of bad reviews on here, so maybe about time you get something done.

Visited Friday afternoon for lunch with friends.

Great service from the waiting staff, but food really poor, cold and extremely poor quality. Shame - as out waitress was excellent and the pub was not busy at all, so not even any excuse for serving such a poor lunch....;(

Terrible slow service took our hen party of 14 at least 20 minutes to all get served our drinks some people had got their meals before others had been served at the bar. Need more staff or at the very least staff that know how to work on a bar and serve people as they are waiting not just as they see them.

Sent steak back and refused to pay as it was such poor quality. Won't return to eat. 2 stars is more than generous.

Rapidly going down hill since the last visit. Overcooked food and only half the tables available. Waitress blamed a new starter on a mix up around reserved tables, poor girl looked like she wanted to cry. No kids options shown. The one in Harrogate is so much better.

As a hen party of 17 we were greeted by the most rude waitress who ordered us away from her table area.

When we sat down we asked for the tables to be cleared & cleaned...bearing in mind we were gonna spend alot of money in there...more rudeness from a bartender saying he hasn't got the time or staff to do it. I told another barman no toilet tissue...this is a basic hygiene necessity, he almost was shouting at me telling me he hasn't enough staff to do anything about it...I suggest you either close on Saturdays or get your act together & get more staff...ideally some with some basic hygiene standards & manners!

We always went on a Friday for fizzy Friday.. prosecco £12 a bottle.... won't be anymore now it's £19 a bottle!! Even the slice of strawberry won't entice us back!!! Banyan is only £15!!! We would have at least 3 bottles as well!!

Waited nearly 40 minutes for breakfast, when served it was cold and had clearly been standing in the kitchen.



Even other people sat around us had the same problem and also complained.

Visited today with my husband, two friends and my 10 month old son. Service was really bad we have been before and it was good previously but today was terrible. We ordered 4 diet cokes which took ages to arrive and were flat as a pancake. Sent them back and the next round were exactly the same. Expect coke on tap to be watered down but that was ridiculous. Sent back again and asked for bottled drinks which the bar staff didn't understand and said did we want coke zero.. .no we want diet coke from a bottle so it's fizzy which we then got. Food took over forty minutes to arrive and was mostly lukewarm even though the place was quiet. The waitress plonked the plate down with a grump as we had complained about the drinks twice. When leaving stood next to till to ask for the bill but server didn't seem interested and started clearing plates and glasses instead of getting the bill so ended up going back to the till on the way out to pay as fed up of waiting. Won't be going back.

They take your money (£100’s) and then chuck you out because you have party poppers and confetti (at a hen do you which they know). The security tell you that you have to leave because someone has been aggressive yet the barman admits no one has. Then the security staff grab you unlawfully. Disgusting. You’ll never get a penny from any of us again. Plus Liam the “cocktail master” never told us not to use confetti even though he spent an hour with us while we were using confetti and party poppers.

Terrible service and rude staff... today we went with our two young children.... sat by the windows to have lunch like we have in the past... food menus on the table... 10 minute wait at the bar... told we can't eat there... there's no sign, which was acknowledged... but still told we can't eat there. No apologies, rude staff member telling us.

This isn't the first time we've had rude staff... keep giving them chances but not again. Wouldn't advise you to go there if you want competent and polite staff serving you.

Stood at the bar for 20 mins before being served, people behind us left. The bar staff were more bothered about making rude actions with a cocktail shaker to a bunch of girls than they were to serve our drinks. It took 10 mins for the lad to serve 6 drinks when the glasses were half full. Then when we asked why the glasses were only half full. He had the audacity to say that’s how it is as we run out of normal glasses and it’s tough and that his service is first class!!! Rude and not good service!

Stone cold food. Had to wait ages for meal. Perhaps someone should tell the chef to warm the plates before serving meals to customers. It's not rocket science is it. Wont be eating there again.

Stay away...As a chef I know what our meals should turn up at table looking like.50 minutes wait .Large table of 8 served 10mins before us ,even though they came in after us.Staff unorganised. Manager clearing tables .Smothered pigeon oops I mean chicken was shocking .Never

Poor service, waitresses were rude. Waited over half an hour for drinks and payment at the end, food was great don’t get me wrong..but you expect good service too!

I went to the Slug and Lettuce with a group of family and friends for our evening meal on Friday 23rd. After ordering our food we waited for an hour to get it. One of our group had to speak to the manager in order to get his food and when it did come it was burnt. The manager had to take all the food back because it wasn’t edible and give them a full refund. The excuse for the quality of the food and poor service was that they were “busy”. Appalling!!!

Foreigners beware. Me and my friend were denied a glass of wine because of my Canadian ID. I can buy an entire bottle of wine at Tesco or Sainbury's with my Canadian Drivers license, so for us to be turned away (especially as 21 year old women) is laughable. I've been to so many different drinking establishments and clubs. Never once have I had a problem over my ID. As a full time UofY student, what do you expect me to do? Walk around everyday with my passport in case I want a drink at one of your establishments? Nice to be treated as the foreign scum you seem to think I am.

Cold food which arrived burnt so returned! Incorrect order arrived for kids meal had to wait a further 15 minutes! Despite asking Si salt, pepper etc nothing provided! Had to go search for our own! Service diabolical when I queried where salt and pepper was, served simply rolled his eyes! Not the best experience, would have had fresher food at McDonald’s and a better service!

Came here today walked out after 40/50 minutes of waiting, staff didn't seem interested in serving and was rude and never even brought over our drinks in this time, I wouldn't mind if it was busy but it wasn't even busy. I won't be visiting again.

Arrived at 11.50, really empty, ordered 3 drinks and 2 main meals and a child meal, 1hr 10 mins later we was still waiting for food. Called waitress over to see what was going on, she hadnt even ordered ours. When it finally arrived, it was cold, and no drink for our 2yr old.

Try telling a 2yr old that it wont be long, whilst waiting so long.

Will not be going back.

Always go to slug when in York but yesterday was a bad idea. Went with my 12 year old daughter & her 2 friends on break from shopping. Had to wait an hour for food. The portions have substantially shrunk, tho prices are still the same. Our table had about 20 men on a Xmas drinking day overlooking us followed by a group of 8 women who's language was colourful to say the least. We couldn't wait to leave and unfortunately it spoilt the day. I think both slug & lettuce in York have obviously profited more from alcohol sales and are gearing more for this. I definitely don't think I'll be going in there for food again which is a shame as the menu choice was once good

Absolutely furious with the service. At the bar 30 minutes before someone served me even though I was at the front the whole time. Bar staff, both male and female, served the blonde customers and male customers before myself (brunette) people next to me, who came in at the same time, left. In the end I had to stop the bar staff serving the male who’d been stood next to me less than 3 minutes so she could serve me. Absolutely disgusting service, I am by no means a ‘feminist’ but I didn’t realise at this day in age my gender and hair colour prioritised my importance to be served a drink!!
