The journey began in 1989 when two German brothers Armin and Nils Diederich moved to England to study at University. Whilst here they made a promise to each other that one day they would create and share a vision of something that had always been close to their hearts; to follow in the footsteps of their ‘Opa’ and run their own Bier Keller.
Exactly 25 years later the brothers Diederich after months of touring Europe tasting tons of Biers and eating sausage are finally seeing their vision come to life.
Pooling all their traditional knowledge and experience and pouring it straight into the gullet of York with their very own STEIN BIER KELLER.
Featuring Authentic Bavarian Keller Decor and Live entertaining Oompah band shows nightly; they’ve even shipped over some of their cheeky friends to lend a hand, which means of course…. EXTRA FRAULEIN.
Serving over 27 of Europe’s finest Biers, speciality Stein Cocktails and an array of Sausages & Snacks to soak them all up!

We came to the bier Keller for my hen party on Saturday 11th June, there was 9 of us and we had a fantastic time and would definitely come again! the only thing it's was like a sauna inside of the bier Keller but other than that staff were on the ball and very helpful and always there if you needed them for drinks etc!
I have to say when I read the reviews on trip advisor I thought there's no way i'm going there cos most of them said how horrible it was, but...how freeking awesome was saturday night for our hen group!!! We absolutely loved it, it made our night. We've even planned our hen reunion for next year so we can do the bier keller again. Cheers guys X
I had an amazing night here for my hen do (21.05.16). There was over 20 of us there and every single person absolutely loved it. The 2 guys up on the stage really got everyone going. The music was great, dancing was great and the drinks weren't half bad either! Thanks Bier Keller!
Highly recommend for a fun night out. Much more exciting than just drinking in the same old bars. Beer was good, hot dog a nice thought but too much bread. Service great. I think the booking system may need to be looked at as some on our table hadn't paid for package 1 (£20) as we had and they were closer to the front.
All in all you need to visit. Well worth it.
Brilliant night last night only went in on a whim but bar manager is a fantastic guy! Great service from him with lots of banter! Didn't get a seat but had a good night listening to the music and chatting to randomers! Will be coming back again soon!

Absolutely fantastic night for my friends hen night, brilliant atmosphere, great drinks at reasonable prices but what's going on with the toilets. There absolutely horrible, smelly, dark, no loo roll. Just dirty.
A group of 35 of us went for a combined celebration stag do/ birthday and everyone of us loved it! Bavarian hats off to the staff and dj. Great fun
A group of 16 went for my hen weekend some werent too struck on going but i had the last say being the hen im so glad we went it made our weekend and the shared toilets werent that bad all toilets had doors and locks on them just had to wipe the seats a few times cos of the fellas with small dicks that couldnt get it in the bowl we had a brill night and even talking about a reunion this time next year every ones still raving about it now
um pa um pa stick it up your jumper , got everyone going we had a great night. small, dark , toilets not good . but we all had a great time.
Had a great night, only down side was when they opened the doors to the night club next door and people kept trying to nick our benches!
Glad I've tried this but after being once I'm not sure if there's anything there to go back again for. Steins priced at £7.20 were good value, staff friendly, entertainment cheesy but fun and it's hard not to join in with the merriment. Toilets do all need fixing or sprucing up a bit. Nothing wrong with unisex toilets but at least fix the doors so they close/lock so there's some privacy.
It was Ok, not very German and most of the bier was British, there was no German Schnapps, but there was a bottle of Jaegermeister? Serve real German and only German Bier, only German Schnapps and only German food and I'll go back.
Thought it was a German Bar??? So why the Irish music?? Feel cheated to be honest, it's my hubby's Birthday and seeing as we have lived in Germany was really looking forward to some Oompah music (should have told us before hand that this was not going to happen. Omly reason I'm giving g it 2* is because the biers nice.
Unfortunately this was an awful place. Not the fun, entertaining evening we were expecting and actually 19 of us left after an hour and a half wasted. Don't waste your time visiting, I usually like to leave positive reviews, but sorry I can't say anything positive about it.
Gone downhill drastically. No Oompah band, no singing, no atmosphere. Can put up with the crappy toilets if you're drinking and dancing but may as well put something on YouTube at home and saved ourselves 120quid reservation fee.
Dreadful place. Not what we were expecting. No atmosphere, cold, dirty. Some random guy came over and asked each of us for £10 - £5 for the table (we were the only group there) and £5 for either a beer or a nondescript 'cocktail'.
I certainly would NOT recommend
