Went in tonight for tea, to hear a male customer being very rude to the staff, the manageress then tried to speak to customer to who he then raised his voice and again was very rude

, when he was informed that some of the staff were in training he replied Not at my bloody expense..... and continued to raise his voice at this young lady who then informed him she was the manageress , She was very calm and professional, she kept her manner and dignity, I then noticed that this young lady was pregnant and that her staff were all watching concerned, the man continued until the young lady asked him to eat his meal and leave several times , I was upset to see a middle aged rude man take on a young woman showing no respect whatsoever, But would like the company to know what a professional young lady they have running The Green Tree, And our meals were perfect as usual xxxx

User

Was in last night for a meal with a friend ...it couldn't have been a more pleasant experience. ..food was good and the staff were exellant. . (Becky) very nice will call back when passing ...thanks

User

Had carvery with my family and 11 month old baby yesterday. The chef was wonderful and went so far out of her way to make up some food that my daughter could eat as she suffers with a lot of food allergies. She even made her up some of her own gravy! Thank you so much xx

User

First time me and my husband went here today and all I can say is WOW, the staff are really friendly, food was lovely, it might not be the closest Stonehouse to us but we prefer this one to Trent Port, well worth the money and the travel

User

Came in today with my husband & son. We had carvery & puddings. We all left happy & full, It had alot off customers in, I was extremely impressed how clean the pub area was & staff kept the tables clean. The food was excellent & the chef was happy & friendly too which was really nice.

A member off staff called Louise served us first & was very friendly & helpful as it was our first time going in.Thank you all for such nice food & happy service, We will be back.

User

Called in on Friday night to be greeted by a wonderful smell from the carvery which myself and my good lady thoroughly enjoyed but after ordering two puddings felt a little disappointed with the portion size appearing in a huge bowl.

User

No eggs or fresh orange duice. Did you forget it was breakfast time or something?

User

I went here yesterday as a group of six with family and my partner. We ordered our starters and mains (my partner and I opted for pizza) and asked if the garlic bread could be served with our mains. However, when we were buzzed to collect our food, the starters and mains were all cooked at the same time, and the chef had misread the instructions. They did apologise and that was ok, but then the food tended to be luke warm rather than hot.

Anyway, after we’d had our mains we decided to order desserts. These seemed to take ages so I asked a male waiter where they were, as they had been ages. He was quite rude and went to check and they would be along soon. They brought me mine with cream and not ice cream, when I informed him he did not apologise, nor about the wait. When we tried to banter with him he just seemed to be in a mardy mood instead. Our plates were not taken from the table the whole time we were there so we had to put them on another table to make room for our dessert plates.

The establishment was not busy whatsoever, so not sure why it took half an hour for two cheesecakes!

Overall, the food was nice, albeit luke warm, and the ice cream with the cheesecake was dreadful! Definitely change supplier for that! Not sure I’d go back anytime soon as it’s half an hour distance away, but please, please, ask your young male waiter to be friendlier and more apologetic when required! We visited about 2pm yesterday and left about 4:20pm

User

Food lovely... cooks did an amazing job. Front of house team not so much. Not punctual at all. Something we ordered not available and instead of asking what we want instead presumed and sent a substitute

User

Came last night there was 7 of us 3 of us ordered the larger carvery where you get more meat and a sausage, we got to the carvery deck to be told there's no sausages we were ok with this although a little disappointed but when it came to the meat we were given the same as a the person who had a small carvery we informed one of the waitresses who I cannot fault at all she asked the carver to give us some more meat as thats what we had paid for she tutted and put 1 piece of beef on a plate, the food we did have was lovely and the bar staff were also great but the carver not so much it's disappointing as the food was good and we regularly come here however I think we will be trying elsewhere in the future

User

We came on Friday night a rather large bunch of us and there was not enough forks on the table nor was there any napkins at all the place is slowly going down hill my brother went last Monday for breakfast an he was fuming about not having much stuff an he comes all the way from Alnwick once a year to go to your establishment for a family meal he even said it's gone down hill now the food is either dry or still hard on the carvery section. The pizza's tho are lush loved the duck in hoisin sauce pizza and sweet chilli

User

Waited a long time for food then once it was here the onion rings were cold the potatoe skins were rank the sour cream was like cottage cheese. Then had to wait for a fresh batch of chips to be cooked which turned up when we nearly finished our meal and wasn't fully cooked. The pizzas were nice though but no staff around when needed and not once did the staff come over to see if everything was ok with the meal! Would not go again.

User

Visited yesterday(14.04.18) with my girlfriend and her family from 2pm till about 4.30pm.

Good points:

* The food was tasty and full of flavour. I would recommend the hummus starter and meat feast pizza to anyone visiting.

* The concept of a pizza and carvery is quite novel!

Bad points:

* Excessive waiting times. We waited at least 30 minutes for both our starters and our desserts; unacceptable when you consider it was not exactly busy - only a smattering of tables had any customers. There didn't seem to be any urgency about anything on the part of the staff.

* A miscommunication with our order resulted in mine and my partner's starters and mains coming out together. The chefs were apologetic and kind though, so it didn't present too much of a problem.

* After a dreadful 30 minute wait for our desserts (just two cheesecakes!), we had to send one of them back as we had asked for it to come with ice cream, and it had been sent with fluffy cream.

* The young male waiter was unacceptably rude to us regarding the wait times for our desserts. There was no urgency to our requests and no apologies for having to wait half an hour for two slices of cheesecake.

I used to be a kitchen team leader at a local volunteer project; had any of my kitchen staff spoken to any paying customers as this waiter had, I would have been furious. This was definitely the low-point of our visit.

* The food, while tasty, was lukewarm.

Conclusion: Despite tasty food, I will not be in any hurry to rush back.

User

Went into green tree and was highly disappointed having to wait such a long time for our starter and mains of which when my pizza came out it was burnt and looked like it had been sat there for ages was dry and didn’t look fresh. I don’t think we will be visiting anytime soon!

User

We come to green tree a lot as it is local to us. However after today experience we will not be visiting again. We ordered two large and one childs carvery. At no point during the ordering process we were informed they were short on meat.

We went up to get our carvery and were told they only had pork. We were offered pie also. Me and my partner did not want either but were offered no other options so accepted. I have to say the staff member doing the carvery was very apologetic.

We sat down to eat our meal the pork was completely inedible, it was just one lump of fat. The pie was burnt and the roast potatoes were rock solid. I paid £10 Each for chips and gravy essentially!

I would not normally post this without speaking to the manager first however I asked to speak to her. I was informed nobody had seen her in about 5 hours. I was then given a business card which was suppose to have her number on and it didn't. Very disappointed.

I appreciate you were busy but why were we not just informed when ordering there was no carvery and we could have ordered something else?!?

User

Utter shite. Having booked for 15 we turned up to find only a table for 10. One of the staff then added a table, however he did not wipe this table despite clearing dirty plates from it. The barman who served us for drinks did not know what Shiraz was! Service was incredibly slow.

After ordering food we were given a buzzer meaning we had to go and collect our own food even though it wasn’t carvery. Even ordering from the set menu you still have to join the carvery queue to get your own chips and salad. There were no bowls available for this. The burgers that should have had bacon and cheese on came out as plain burgers. It was only then that we were informed there was no bacon available. No option to change the order or offer of refund for food that had been paid for but wasn’t available. Whilst service was incredibly slow there did seem a rush to clear the tables. Other tables seemed to get table service. Coleslaw was ok. Suspect it is delivered in and not made on site. Probably why it was ok. Chips were dry and mildly warm at best. Probably been out all day as the place was empty.

Altogether this place is a shambles and I would recommend avoiding like the plague. The plague would probably have been a better experience.

User

Theres been a terrible decline here... the service is terrible, everyone is polite to your face, but there's no urgency about anything.

Today, my order was forgotten in the kitchen... pretty hard going since we are pretty much your only customers! This resulted in a 30 minute wait for a fish finger bap. Which was particularly annoying as my young son also had to wait as he eats my salad (because apparently I cannot purchase salad on it's own for him) This is the third time, we've had an order forgotten. How is that even possible?

On half our visits you've not had items on the menu available and we've not been notified, until we make enquiries to where the food is!! The carvery is terrible all round. The meat is generally tough, the pies are so over cooked you cannot cut the pastry. The pizzas and burgers to be fair are usually pretty decent albeit a little greasy at times.

Today there were 4 staff just having a chat amongst themselves outside.. no one inside serving.

Everything is just really poor in recent months, which is a terrible shame as we've been visiting regularly for years.

I hope you step up your game and get things back to how they were before.

User

Payed for the carvery, as I'd had one at the Stonehouse in Scarborough (and enjoyed it). The same can not be said of this visit. All the meat was dry and had clearly be sat under the lights for far too long. When I pointed this out there was no mention of bringing a fresh piece out or that it would be coming out soon. The only option was to have half a chicken. It was not nice. The vegetable lasagna did not fare any better. The mash was stodgy, the peas were shrivelled and the carrots, turnip etc were cold and very bland.

The only enjoyable part of the meal was the roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. On the whole very disappointing and I won't be visiting again if passing by.

User

Myself and 2 boys came last night and chose a carvery. I went first and got the last Yorkshire pudding, I chose turkey & beef, turkey tasted funny, beef was dry. I added dried up carrots, beans, cauliflower cheese, a bit of mash and some roasts, I daren't try the dried up peas!!! The boys got their meat and whilst waiting for the Yorkshire puddings to be brought out, they chose mashed & roast potatoes and decided against the dried up looking veg. We were then still waiting for the Yorkshire, all 3 meals getting cold!!! There was a lot of food left on the 3 plates and obviously the waitress failed to ask the all important question 'was everything okay for you?' Definitely won't be back and definitely won't recommend!!!

Went into green tree and was highly disappointed having to wait such a long time for our starter and mains of which when my pizza came out it was burnt and looked like it had been sat there for ages was dry and didn’t look fresh. I don’t think we will be visiting anytime soon!
