South Yorkshire Police Yesterday at 12:41 · ADVICE: Police issue advice after pet thefts in Doncaster Police in Doncaster are urging pet owners to check their home security measures after a series of reported animal thefts across the town. There have been reported burglaries where dogs have been stolen from rear gardens, and in some cases entry forced into properties, to steal dogs of value.... In one burglary, 13 Pug dogs were stolen. In another, an attempted burglary was reported to police where there were a number of Pug puppies inside the property. Eamonn Larkin, Crime Reduction Officer for Doncaster, said: “We understand that this type of theft causes a considerable amount of alarm among pet owners living in Doncaster and we are investigating whatever lines of enquiry are available to us. “While a couple of the incidents reported to us have involved Pugs specifically, other burglaries have been reported to us that display no particular pattern on breed. In some cases, rabbits and a tortoise have been taken. “There aren’t really any identifiable patterns in the location either, which means at this time it is very difficult to determine whether the crimes can be linked – we’ve had reports from Wheatley, Bentley, Scawthorpe, Askern, Balby and Hatfield. “Our advice to all pet owners in Doncaster and across South Yorkshire is to review your home security. “If you have dogs or puppies that are high value and/or desirable breeds, please make sure your home security is up-to-date and up to the job of keeping them safe. “If you let your animals out in the rear garden, don’t leave them there alone and try and make sure you have some basic security on any outdoor kennels or dog runs.” More information on securing your property is available on our website: http://southyorks.police.uk/Bewise

Good morning, a message from Doncaster crime prevention. We are experiencing an unusually high number of vehicles being attacked and property stolen from within. There is no particular location that is being targeted, as they are happening across Doncaster. The link is that on many occasion, property has been left on display inside the vehicle. Please ensure that when you leave your vehicle that you remove valuable items. If necessary even open the glove box to show that there is nothing placed in there. On one occasion, a small amount of loose change was stolen from the centre console. Opportunist thieves are breaking into cars if something is left on display. Hello, An urgent crime prevention message. We have had burglaries recently in Armthorpe and Bawtry when Bank cards were stolen during sneak in burglaries at business premises. Offenders later rang the complainants claiming to be from the Bank issuing the cards. They stated that someone was using the cards to try and withdraw money from the account and asked for the owners PIN. Luckily the owners immediately realised that the cards had been stolen and ended the call. Plea...se consider the security of your work premises; Take the same security precautions there, as you would at home. Restrict access to non-public areas and put your valuables whenever possible in a locked and secure drawer or cupboard. Your Bank will never ring you and ask for your PIN. Anyone phoning or indeed emailing you and asking for your PIN is not from the Bank but wants to use the details to access your account and empty it of funds. Since the 1st of January 2016, over sixty burglaries have occurred in Doncaster where car ignition keys were stolen. In the majority of these burglaries, the corresponding motor vehicle was also taken at the same time. The type and quality of security devices fitted to many motor vehicles means that relatively few vehicles can be stolen without a key; necessitating in most cases, the key to be stolen in order to steal the vehicle. Some thieves will take car keys, which are ...found during a burglary and take the vehicle to take themselves and the stolen property from the scene. Others will target the house after seeing a desirable motor vehicle parked at a house. The common thread during these burglaries is that in all cases, the keys are easily found as they are usually left on open display. In some cases, vehicle keys left on a table inside the front door have been stolen by reaching through the letter box using a pole or similar with a hook on the end. The main prevention technique is to hide your keys where a thief is unlikely to find them. Do not leave car keys on a table inside the door on the kitchen work surface. The belief that offenders will come into the bedroom to steal keys is not one supported by statistics. There is only one report of this happening and the vehicle in question was a Supercar valued at over £300,000. Secure your house to reduce the chances of becoming a victim of burglary. If your doors have Euro profile cylinder locks that are more than two years old, change the locks for ones that comply with Security standard SS312 or TS007 3 star. Further information on these types of lock can be found via your local Master locksmiths or on their website at http://www.locksmiths.co.uk/…/lock-snap ping-most-secure-lo…/ Burglary prevention advice can be found on the South Yorkshire police website at http://www.southyorkshire.police.uk/…/4 -9-14%20Janes%20appr… If the thief steals the car using the ignition keys, that also means the alarm system and immobiliser are inoperative. Consider fitting a tracking device to your vehicle or a separate physical security device.

Good morning, a further message regarding Euro locks from Eamonn Larkin, Doncaster Crime reduction officer. We have had a number of domestic burglaries where entry was gained by snapping the Euro lock, we also had a further three where entry was prevented because the house holder had replaced their locks with ones that have been upgraded to the TS007 3 star standard. If you have Euro locks older than two years, consider upgrading them to the new standard. If you require further information visit the South Yorkshire Police website http://www.southyorkshire.police.uk/…/E urolock%20leaflet%20… or contact Eamonn larkin at Doncaster Police Station
