The story of Taplins Butchers
John Taplin was born in 1841 in London, John was a stone Mason and moved to Newcastle in 1870. In 1872 John married Jane Briers who was originally from Hexham. They had 10 children of which the eldest was William Briers Taplin born in 1873, William took a job as butcher.
William went on to have 13 children (5 sons 8 daughters). In 1916 following the death of his parents he moved his family to Harehills in Leeds and opened up the first Taplins B...utchers. Through the mid 19th century William and his sons had 6 shops in and around the Leeds/Bradford area.
One of Williams sons (David B Taplin) born 14th Feb 1931 pioneered the business into Bradford markets with his wife Patricia. Within the Rawson Market in Bradford they occupied 6 shops all overseen by David with many family members working for him. David and Patricia had 2 children (Keith and Susan).
Keith Taplin Born 1st June 1956 was helping out in his dad's shops from the age of 7 and when he left school went straight into the family business. David Taplin died in 1995 and the business was passed on to Keith who has kept the business thriving ever since. Keith has 3 daughters from his first marriage and through a second marriage 1 step-daughter and 1 step-son. All the immediate family have worked in the shop and many other family members over the years.
Keith's step-son Jonathan currently works in the shop full time closely with his dad as he prepares to carry the family business forward into its next chapter in history.....

travelled from Huddersfield today to buy some quality meat from the best butchers around was taken to this Butchers as a littlle girl back in the late 60's by my mum and I have alway made a point of going when i can the best Butchers never been disapointed in the exellent quality and valve for money and fabulous service .

i love this butchers they go out of their way to give you what you want, their friendly and our family have been going to them for years and my brother used to work for them... absolutely brilliant choice of meat at brilliant prices i recommend them to everyone

been coming here for years the best cuts the best meats and the awesome team/family behind the counter is always smiling

always had good customer service ,the meat is second to none wont go to any other butchers Taplins is the best by far

Very friendly and helpful every time I tell them what I want I hv just received my order to my door in pudsey good prices to will defo recommend them to friends and family

Ordered a meat hamper and they made it to suit what I liked and how many it was for and the price I wanted very good value for me will defo use again ’┐Į busiest butchers on the market by far which obviously says something

My parents have been going to Taplins since I was a little girl, now my little girl comes with me! I come from Huddersfield to get my meat and when I lived in London I used to bulk buy and take home with me. Great meat, great prices but really lovely people!

Moved to Baildon from the city centre in February.

Picked meat up from Taplins whenever i was in Bradford, but oftentimes had to resort to buying supermarket meat, which wasnt great quality. I was devastated (well, unhappy that i had to buy from a supermarket, when ive been a faithful Taplins customer for 2years)



Queue, me drunkenly messaging their facebook saying 'i miss taplins meats! ’┐Į'. Found out theyll deliver to my door!

got a HUGE meat order in today (all for ┬Ż60!, including fillet steaks!)

Excellent customer service and quality produce. I went in yesterday for the Xmas meat, with my disabled father and 2 children in tow (stressful ’┐Į!). A lovely lady gave the kids a lolly whilst we ordered. The lady who served us was very helpful also. Once we had finished, I realised how much heavy shopping I had, plus Dad and the kids, so a kind member of staff then helped us to the car with it all. Top service! Thanks to all at Taplins and have a lovely Christmas and new year! X

My dad has been using them for years and I've been ordering from them since Christmas. Love the idea of free delivery too.. saves trekking them heavy bags round town ’┐Į.
