Our Menus. Enjoy 😉
This bestselling ale has a distinct cereal character, combined with malt and caramel. Equal amounts of fruit and bitterness create a balanced tasting ale with a smooth, creamy texture. Pop in and enjoy 😉
An enticing aroma of resinous hop, sweet malt and delicate roasted notes. The mouth feel is a balanced, complex blend of succulent dried fruit, lightly roasted malt and a subtle yet assertive bitterness. The finish is dry and refreshing. Pop in and enjoy 😉
Interested please send me a message. Thanks
A beautifully balanced, light gold coloured beer with dominant hop flavours and pale malt character. Guzzler is an easy drinking, crisp & refreshing session ale brewed with Challenger and Celeia hops that bring about a light citrus palate with overtones of Grapefruit. Pop in and enjoy 😊
Black Sheep. Bittersweet in mouth with a dry finish packed with fruity notes and Goldings hops. Masses of hops, orange-fruit and roast coffee maltiness. Pop in and enjoy 😉
Find us. The Exhibition Pub. Send me your photos in our lounge, garden or conservatory and will share with everyone. 👍🏼
Timothy Taylor, Landlord. A strong classic ale with a golden amber colour. It has a scent of caramel, light fruits and roasted malt hints. Pop in and enjoy 😉
Inspired by an original Gordon’s recipe from the 1880s, Gordon’s Pink is perfectly crafted to balance the refreshing taste of Gordon’s with the natural sweetness of raspberries and strawberries, with the tang of redcurrant served up in a unique blushing tone. Made using only natural fruit flavours to guarantee the highest quality real berry taste. Pop in and enjoy 😊
We stayed at the Exhibition on our recent visit to York. The room was a good size for a family of four. The price was great, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was delicious! We ended up staying for an extra night.
The place has a ton of character. It's a bit noisy (in the front room you are across from another bar and the road) but manageable and to be expected. We still slept well (and the kids slept in!)
It's also a great location to explore the city.
I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting.
We love this place. If we need to meet up with friends, this is the place. The food is excellent! The kitchen staff really care, and make the effort.
Plus! If you like an open mic, for poetry or prose, The Ex has welcomed the York Spoken Word for over 11 yrs: one of the longest running open mics in England.
Top pub, top food, top people. Brought a party of German tourists to York and the pub became the temporary local while we were in the area. I can fully recommend it. I will definitely be coming here when I visit York again.
Massive beer garden and nice food , deffo reccomend it !
Lovely warm friendly clean pub, we always visit when we're in York, we've stayed twice & the room was cosy clean & warm. Four years ago we got married at the registry office over the road & friends family & us all bombarded the pub after our ceremony, they accommodated us very well with excellent food & hospitality, they were wonderful with our grandchildren too.
Lovely pub, nice large beer garden. We had Sunday lunch in the conservatory. Food was really nice, the roast beef melted in your mouth and not a bit of fat in sight. Will definitely go back next time I'm in York.
Lovely friendly pub with a large beer garden that makes you feel like you’re in Spain.
Had a great weekend in York, stayed here the weekend to celebrate my birthday, nothing was too much trouble, all staff were lovely, Rose is just a gorgeous lady, on arrival to the room I had been left a birthday card, two mini bottles of prosecco and chocolates, a lovely, thoughtful touch, the room was spacious, very clean, breakfast was very tasty, the pub itself is great, I would definitely stay again..thank you all
Fantastic place to eat, food is top class and staff very friendly and polite
Beautiful beer garden and food great
Another fabulous stay. Gutted to leave all the lovely people who work there. The breakfast room is a joy. Great breakfast allways
It has stood the test of time. A good solid pub that has a decent selection of ales and serves generous portions of food.
Nice beer garden as well.
Visit at least once every time were in York. 5-6 times a year.
The bar staff could be more friendly and concentrate on who is next to be served
Lovely traditional pub but we waited hour and a half for a sandwich!! Two separate parties of four had to be refunded because they couldn't wait the time due to trains and buses. Needs a better multi tasking chef works at a snails pace. Yes it was busy but it is expected on a Sunday when the Xmas market is in town, Staff weren't too bothered about the complaints either
Came for a roast on Sunday - ordered but waited nearly an hour for our food with no communication as to why the delay. We then overheard that the pub were stopping serving food as they had a large backlog. Husbands then arrived but mine didn't for another five minutes. The food itself was lovely although didn't get the extra gravy we had asked for which left it a bit dry.....
Average pub food at inflated prices...chicken tikka masala was all sauce and very little chicken...better places to eat in York for reasonable prices. Bar service was good.
horrific. ordered food - my girlfriends sandwich had hair in it (it happens) the bar man (pleasant man) took one look, apologised and went to get a replacement. He refunded the sandwich but then came back apologising for the chef/manager who wanted the money back as it would cost to much too replace the sandwich (I'd spent £55 at this point on 2 sandwiches, some nachos, 4 pints and half a coke) I asked too speak to the chef or a manager but the nice man behind the bar said he was to angry to angry to speak to me as the chef was to scared what he'd do. most bizare experience I've ever had In a pub and I run pubs. put your money in some of the many nice pubs around york. - aside from the experience the food was very average.
Visited last year & had a great time with staff place room at front above front door, total contradiction this time for our stay in room 6, staff miserable apart from lone barman, owner, Rosa, seen pouring wine for self in bar was extremely confrontational when told room unsuitable as main boiler for hotel constantly going and running water, kitchen extraction fan going every 5 minutes outside window said we should apologise... Then put us in room 5, health & safety/fire hazard, this room should never be used as a guest room. We left a day early, money refunded in cash. We will not be returning to what was a great pub in a great location. Advise if your booked cancel and find alternative before you're disappointed
Too expensive........... £9.30 for a pint of Guinness and a pint of Amstel. Rip off !
