We were very excited to have booked lunch at The Ivy York. We were not disappointed. The service, food and wine were everything we hoped they would be. The restaurant had a very friendly feel about it. We will definitely visit The Ivy again next time we are in York.

This is the first time I’ve attended The Ivy and it did not disappoint! I was there for a friends 30th Birthday and the staff were fantastic with helping us in celebrating. The three course meal was absolutely delicious and I would definitely recommend anybody to come here for a special occasion! Gorgeous addition to York!!

Ok so today was my 6th visit. It’s fair to say that I am totally hooked. Food, staff, ambience, service amazing. So nice to have a restaurant in York which is calm and focusing on quality of service and food rather than on quantities of customers. I am already planning my next visit. 5�s from me

My husband booked us in here on 21st April for a surprise birthday meal. He knew I've wanted to go there since we saw it last Dec. Anyway we weren't disappointed! Loved everything about it. The decor, staff so helpful and polite. We ordered mains and deserts. Absolutely delicious. York is our favourite place so will definitely be calling again.

My husband and I visited yesterday after a failed visit to Betty’s ( I won’t talk about that they don’t need attention drawing to themselves).

We were warmly welcomed and seated . Our afternoon tea was brought out swiftly and it was beautiful. Not only visually but also in taste ! My only ‘criticism ‘ is that it was top side heavy on sweet things and I’d have appreciated a little more savoury but that’s just me!

A wonderful experience and definitely one we would travel back for!

Just been for a fabulous meal for my mums birthday treat! Food was absolutely gorgeous! Hands down the best fish & chips I’ve ever had! Couldn’t fault the service or staff... only slight criticism there could have been a dress code. No hoodies or trainers etc... otherwise a lovely visit will defiantly be coming back!!

First time we’ve dined here, but will certainly not be the last. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was exceptional. Could do with a slighter wider range of cocktails, but it’s hardly a deal-breaker! Would most definitely recommend.

Enjoyed a visit to celebrate our 20th anniversary, enjoyed every minute, service was fantastic, the food was amazing, decor a pleasure to sit in, all round thoroughly enjoyed and pleased we chose the Ivy. It’s the little touches that made the visit extra special .

Elegant place, totally lovely staff who are great at their jobs but fun too and the food was incredible we all loved it and I felt like I was a regular diner which of course I will be now!

The hostess at the main door on Monday night was brilliant. She looked amazingly elegant, was pleasant and managed to get me a table even though I hadn't booked. Food was amazing! Had crab linguine with the tenderstem broccoli. My waiter was fab. The only thing was he hadn't tried the two dishes that I was debating so couldn't help me decide! However he was so lovely (and it wasn't his fault, you MUST feed him everything!), I had a brilliant time chatting to him and the other staff members. Decor and music amazing. Food high quality.

Lovely lunch, food arrived promptly and hot, was very busy (Fri afternoon so expected) but staff still attentive and efficient, will be returning to sample the evening menu next time. Only gripe was the 12.5% service charge while we didn't mind paying this for our lunch & drinks it's quite a hefty amount if only having drinks or nibbles, would much prefer to tip waiters an amount of our choice. But would definitely recommend.

Lovely Place but one of our party meals had really burnt toasted bread as part of their Truffle Chicken sandwich dish. The toast was replaced but would really expect better of a top establishment and the price paid.

Service was good until another of our party had to chase the waitress for her change of the payment of her bill.

I visited York for the weekend with a friend and we went to The Ivy for breakfast, the staff were attentive, friendly and professional. The food was great and there was plenty of it. They were acommodating when we requested different options and replaced an item my friend wasn’t happy with. No fuss and no quibble. I’m not a fan of service being included in the bill, it should be discretionary, on this occasion it was worth it so we paid it, our waiter did have a sense of humour and we were made to feel very welcome.

A decent little restaurant in the city centre. Staff were very helpful and friendly. A waitress named Amy served us, who was very polite. Personally I think there need to be a little more choices on the menu but what they had looked great. I had the Ivy burger followed by a creme brûlée which was delicious. My mother had the Crispy duck which she thought was delicious but she wasn’t too keen on her grilled chicken as the avocados were quite hard. Amy our waitress dealt with it brilliantly, apologied and gave her a complimentary glass of Prosecco. Altogether the experience was great and would come back. Would definitely recommend the Ivy York to anyone.

What kind of establishment says it is company policy not to serve soup with a soup spoon? The Ivy does! All fur coat and no knickers. Also waited 30 minutes for the bar staff to open a bottle of beer. I eouldnt have minded but the place only had anout 10 diners in at the time. Very poor service though admittedly the food did taste good. Not imptessed that a service charge was added to the bill however

Visited on Saturday with my cousin. Really been looking forward to going but I'd heard mixed reviews but went with an open mind.

The staff were pleasant enough even tho they could smile abit more instead of being so stone faced!

We had the champagne afternoon tea. The food was nice but nothing amazing and I could get better (and more) food for much less!

I didn't pay the £6.88 service charge as I didn't feel the service was good enough to warrant one! We were the only table who's waiter didn't come back to ask if everything was ok... perhaps our faces didn't fit!

At least I can say I've been, but unfortunately I won't be returning!

Took the family for a celebration meal only to be told no steaks available and no bread!! Deeply concerned that an establishment could not offer the full menu. starters came out 2 by 2. again not a good start to what i thought was going to be a special night!! Told the waiter to take the service charge off the bill as i wasn't prepared to pay for a service i would expect of a top eating establishment!! Reluctantly gave a tip but if this is the service the Ivy offer i may have to cancel my next booking in June!! Up your game guys. Not to much to ask considering the prices!! ��

Food was average at best, service was average, drinks were average. Don’t go expecting luxury. The tables are very close together so you get to know your neighbours. We were politely reminded that they needed the table back in ten minutes which would have been fine had we not been waiting a while to order desserts and then having to ask them to bring our bottle of wine to the table so we could actually drink it. I’ve experienced it now and wouldn’t go again.
